I've fixed few Precision T4 based turbos, and it appears that the normal Garrett T4 rebuilding bush bearing kit goes straight on on the Precision with 1/4 shaft. They would go straight into a Garrett bush bearing T4 bearing housing assembly with back plate and work. To me the shaft between the two is same.

You have no idea how many parts and bits are shared amongst them. You can grab 3 or 4 different Garrett turbos ex. gt1549, gt1549v, gt1749v, gt1852v, gt2052v, GT2056V all of these use the basically the same core internals. The GT2052v and GT2056 and bigger ones use bigger vanes housing to accommodate for the bigger turbines, but the core internals are interchangeable. keep in mind that turbine and compressor wheel are ALL different from each other, in the same GT1749V you have a few different turbine and compressor config, turbine houses machined accordingly ofc. I'm only talking about some of the turbos i tore appart/fixed

k04 turbo works on those ... I have a mini cooper s which runs the same stock as yours.... either k04 or frankenturbo

@@esbekay Even better is a modded K04 with bigger comp wheel, 4 to 6mm more should do just fine :D not too big if you ain't switching the turbine, you should keep them somewhat matched. Also for more power, get a bigger compressor housing, it helps move more CFM, CFM going in the engine is what you want, makes the setup more efficient

Yes, it doesn’t mean the turbo is bad though

Is it a random event or the GEN 2 ball bearing turbos seem have more chances to smoke oil compared to the GEN 1 BB turbos?

The rear seal is the same. The front seal is different but neither is a seal issue. Most of the time people install the turbo incorrectly

@@turbolabamerica too much oil pressure or turbo angle not helping oil drain into the pan are the 2 main causes, right?
