I’m not in the US but if I’m honest it’s confusing as to whether one needs to formally seek copyright registration or not. I know things are copyrighted from the moment of creation but it’s unclear as to how this registration process may help in cases of infringement. I know how to critically appraise information as good as anybody in higher learning but find this subject seems to be on a different level. Maybe plain old consultation advice from the likes of an entertainment lawyer is what’s needed

I Used Splice for a time, but I realized those samples not going to make my beat unic. Everyone else can use the same samples, so I asking as a producer how can I provide value if I sound same like others? I think the best way is to learn to write chords, melodies and create your on samples. This way you can truly say you are a producer! In terms of drum samples obviously you not going to make your own kick and snare generally speaking, but the rest of it is possible and fun do it.

Hey DJ Pain gotta question. So I understand splice is royalty free. Main issues I think most people are confused about is they probably used a loop and someone published it before them. Now the next producer used the same loop and they didn’t change it enough or didn’t flip it. So they probably got a strike or copyright violation. I think thats why most people are under that assumption splice isn’t royalty free. I would like some more clarification on that as well to confirm if my own personal assumptions were correct, since everyone stating hey you’ll never get a sync placement due to splice and trying to clear it because someone probably used that exact same loop.
@DJPain17 ай бұрын
Okay but that doesn’t make them less wrong or any more intelligent when the claimant is never Splice and Splice has a whole system to deal with these claims
@ProdByArtVolé_YT7 ай бұрын
@@DJPain1 I’m not excusing that mindset at all. Like you said the spread of misinformation is very rampant in our community. That’s why I asked the question. I 100% agree with you but just like many upcoming producers that don’t too much about the climate of things and how they work. Same thing was said about Cymatics some used a looped didn’t bother to change it from a free pack or whatever or didn’t get their own licensing which I know cymatics does provide licensing and royalty free samples. Someone got pissed that they didn’t do much to the loop posted it and got hit with copyright and stated oh if you upload a cymatics loop to major DSP for distribution they’re not royalty free they’re gonna take all your money etc etc. Since you actually have the experience and it’s not hearsay I can legit see your accolades and look through channel. I wanted to know personally to dispel those rumors. I stayed away from loops due to all that hearsay. You made super valid points which I’m going to use going forward like the splice department for copyright claims. I’m starting to piece together it’s probably someone downloaded a pirate pack and got screwed or they don’t know how to generate their licenses to prove ownership. Like splice and cymatics does. So I’m relieved but then again I would spent my whole growing career staying away from loops because of that “uncertainty” now I know it’s just lack of knowledge or work ethic because it’s pretty simple to get those licenses unless that got their loops illegitimately.
