Also history is written by the winners of wars . The first casualty of war is the truth quote from Ancient Greek Aeschylus . The Great War aka WW1 was always over who run the Mesopotamia & Persian oil fields. When I was at school in the 70s that was never mentioned. It’s clear as daylight for everyone today. Is this woke ? Or is this the truth !!! Sykes / Picot Agreement drawn up in 1916 , was the spoils of war to the victors. That cat was only let out the bag by the Russians who after there revolution told the rest of the world . That Russia pre revolution Great Britain & France had a bigger plan all along . When the cenotaphs first went up in villages , towns & city’s up & down the country no one ever mentioned that Britain last so many of its best fit young men all over oil . I think woke gets mocked by people who don’t like the truth at times . The word truth has in certain areas been rebranded woke. We need to stop the B S that divides us. When will people get into their heads our education system might as well be a totally and distinct country that is run by its self, for its self and for us to pay for it. Only a total reset with removals at very high levels, prosecutions, non-graduate teachers from industry as I was and effectively a cleansing and removal of all political bias materials (now pretty much of it), will 'begin' to change things.

Yet if you study events in Europe from 1930 onwards you can clearly see that what is taught is a political view of those actual events, mainly be omission of things that don't fit the required narrative and image of some countries that is wished to be projected. The same applies to current events and those since 1970's. History is becoming more propaganda than it is historical fact.

If they are, IMO they started doing this as early as the early 1970s, and likely earlier than that. History has long since been a passion of mine, but I never took it past O'level. Even then what I was being taught was highly selective and concentrated far too much on what I saw as socialist propaganda. All kinds of assertions and assumptions were being rammed down my neck, which did not run true to my understanding of human nature, just how or why things actually happen in this world. I strongly suspected then that very little comes from the bottom-up, and that virtually everything comes from the top-down. We get what our owners wish or permit us to have, for whatever reason they wish to do so. If they wish to ignore us they will, if not, they won't. What we may think is a grassroots movement is rarely anything of the kind. What we may think is an act of God, or some kind of accident is rarely anything of the kind. Things such as World Wars don't just happen because some Austrian feather hat wearer got shot somewhere in the Baltics. Actually, I believe it was in the stomach area. That is a joke BTW. Yes, indeed the Bastards have been covering their tracks for much longer than many are conditioned to believe. History is written by the winners, which should provide an enormous clue as to where many of these Bastards reside or run their operations from.

I don't think history "ought to be a celebration of who we are" or anything else other than looking into what happened, when, where and how. British schools shouldn't focus exclusively on British history but rather on interesting case studies from around the world. When and where did the notion of monarchy arise? How and why and with what has it been replaced in various parts of the world? What factors influenced the emergence, consolidation and eventual weakening of the sovereign nation state? How were major empires able to form, consolidate their power and finally be eclipsed by others? What do we mean by "democracy"? Where are its roots to be found? Where was it first implemented (not in Britain)? What has been the route towards universal suffrage and what factors have accelerated or prevented its introduction around the world? All of these issues and many more can be studied and taught with reference to both genders and various social divisions, castes and classes and with strict reference to primary and secondary sources. Ideology - whether geared towards a celebration of Britishness or the furthering of the so-called woke agenda - has absolutely no place in the study and teaching of history or any other discipline.
@DancesWithSpiders2 жыл бұрын
Here are a few interesting case studies by way of example: The German Hanse (corporate power v state power; transnationalism; innovations in transport and logistics) The Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania (elected presidential-style monarchy and rise and fall of a super power) Burgundy (sovereign state or political pawn?) The Church (the hijacking of a set of superstitious beliefs in the service of raw power politics) Slavery (previously almost universal; European slaves in North Africa; differences to serfdom, indentured and forced labour) The nation state (British monarchs and the Angevin Empire; the string of states that were established after WWI; forced migrations and language policy) Exploration and conquest (Africa, the Americas, Asia; differences between say Roman colonialism and modern colonialism) The Suffragettes (women's suffrage and rights more generally; a model for other rights movements?) Today (history is being made as we speak; who is shaping the narrative and why? Fact checking - how can we discern the truth from within our own social context - think data overload, language limitations, unconscious cultural biases) Etc. It's interesting stuff
