This was BrightonSEO. There are tons of SEO conferences that happen every year. a Google search for "best SEO conferences" should give you some options you can plan for :) -Sam

You would hope people act honestly, but they are humans after all. Money is the primary motivation. In the end, they are selling a product so they'll only be positive regardless of any outcome.
