I'm constantly giving one of my silkies baths. Think she's made a good two solid days without getting pooped on. It's definitely a special breed. Did watch her run into a barrel and then try to fight it.

My silkies are loved pets. They are very gentle and sweet. My entire silkie flock goes to roost every night but there are only bantams in that coop and run.

the feather feet help them with the cold because chickens can get frostbite on their feet.

Yes, and that's why chickens will sleep laying on their feet at night when it's cold. And they may huddle together for warm too.

Lol. Don't do that. 😂 I have three white silkies. They are very sweet. It's definitely aggravating that they won't get on roosting bar. Silkies are very loveable. The reasons you named are Amazingly good reasons

He gives no good reason he Hates them except they get dirty! If u want to raise your own chickens you need a banty, why not get a cute bird. Silkies r very friendly better than some of the smaller breeds. I ran larger layer breeds like Australorps & Wyandottes. My roosters were 3 sizes. And they were buddies. My silkie watched out for his larger buddy who would frequently get stuck under something. If David hasn't told me were Goliath was, Goliath would have died more than once

Silkies are wonderfully soft to the touch. And because they're small, they probably eat less than the average chicken.

My silkies go to roost but I had to put them to the roost every night for a month to teach them.

don't make the roost so high! Mine roost but only like to about 18-20" off the ground....they prefer it over the floor if given that choice, same as most chickens. Also a spot to roost in the brooder as they are growing helps too.

I love, Love, LOVE Silkies! I could go on for an hour straight how much I adore these Teddy Chickens! I have several that know their name and come when called and learned it by 8 weeks old....pretty sure puppies don't do that! However, if you want 'egg layers' do not torture sweet Silkies with your inadequate care and setup!
