Everyone wants a perfect smile and some ads promise just that for a fraction of the typical $20,000 price. However, buyer beware; they may not be dentists. Some are not licensed to practice dentistry. Instead, they take a short training course and receive a bogus certification. Inside Edition found unlicensed operators advertising their services across the U.S. Jay Colombo of Fairfield, New Jersey, sure looks like a dentist and online he calls himself the “dental daddy” but don’t be fooled by that charm. Inside Edition producers went undercover and met with him in his office.

Dentistry is a weird profession where not a lot of stuff gets regulated. Licensed dentists can ruin teeth, unlicensed dentists can do stuff like in the video

The dentist I go has her DDS, and is freakiest AWESOME! She is all business when it comes to taking care of her patients. Anything she can't do, she will refer to someone else (ex. Finding an endodontics doctor for a root canal). Any fake person pretending to be what ACTUAL professionals do, need to be jailed for YEARS, and pay back every single penny they made off of the patients.

My daughter had them done last year and her’s look very natural. Like someone else said, you get what you pay for (and it also pays to do the proper RESEARCH). You do what’s best for you as others will do whats best for them. Costs nothing to mind your own business.

I would never trust them. If people choose to see these people, they deserve every consequence that follows. Likewise the wannabe "veneer technician". See a licensed and competent dentist. Its not like dentistry is new and untrustworthy. If money is a question for veneers, then I guess you just aren't getting veneers. Dentists dont go to school for 8+ years and take difficult exams to not know what they're doing. If anyone has been to the dentist, you can see how unprofessional he is and how he has no idea what he's doing.

My legit dentist still keeps pushing veneers for my teeth too. So they will look “perfect” but I say heck no. I know they shave down the tooth enamel to put over what is, basically, a fake tooth that needs replaced eventually. I will keep my naturally teeth & enamel as long as possible!!

Let's not forget the scrubs/proper dentistry workwear. The colors and style mean something. They look like they just grabbed whatever fit.

Yeah that’s basically the procedure. Shave your natural teeth down, take some measurements of your mouth and put porcelain veneers over them with a special glue. You’ll need to have them remade every 15 years or so as well.

Pretty much any real dental work costs 20g or more and dental insurance doesn't exist in America, it's just a coupon for 3 to 10 percent off the insane prices. That's why all these people keep getting clientele.smh

Uh, dental insurance definitely exists. I’ve never not had dental insurance except when I worked maybe retail jobs as a high school student. I’ve had fillings, braces, and wisdom teeth removal done all while having dental insurance at different jobs. So either your job sucks or maybe it’s regional. I personally wouldn’t take any job that did not offer health, dental, or vision insurance.

Not everybody is in a position to have good dental insurance or dental insurance at all. I needed up two thousand dollars worth of dental work and my insurance would not pay because I already used my lousy maximum.

Idk how that is selfish to spell out basic facts. Most places have it as an option, including yours apparently. The fact you went over some annual maximum is specific to your insurance. You still had dental insurance. And yes, like surgeries, insurance often won’t cover elective cosmetic procedures like adult braces or veneers. I had braces again as an adult so I had to pay extra monthly to have it partly covered. And I still paid around 3.5k through my HSA over a two year period. Dental insurance should be a basic bare bones benefit an employer offers. If they don’t, find a job that offers it or demand it. Pretty sure even my retail job offered it for full time employees.

Dentist nowadays cant be trusted either. I literally went in for bottom denture's and a top partial. She lied to me about pretty much everything and I went all of March with literally no bottom teeth because she made the impression wrong. She was fired and now im even more traumatized from the dentist and can eat less things than I could when I bad teeth. Luckily my kids dentist is wonderful and even gives them small toys after each visit plus they're fast and trustworthy.

I feel very bad for these people. It's not right that they're taking advantage of them.. There's a lot of dentists out there right now that's purposefully tearing up people's teeth so that they keep coming back to get them fixed. When there's nothing wrong with your teeth to begin with even. They will mess up the wrong teeth on purpose so that you have to come back for an extra visit and pay all that money to get it fixed. My husband has been going through it with Dennis because that happened to him. They took out the wrong tooth and then told them that they would fix it but they didn't and now he's just screwed. And I see ads like this and I'm like look let's do this or that and then I have second thoughts because something just doesn't feel right thank God. And when you do things like this because teeth make a person have confidence if they have not had any in a long time, it's just not right to do that. And knowing fully will they pay all that money and might not be able to either do it again or to get them fixed.
