When we finally switched to a licensed dentist who knew what she was doing, she was a tiny Ukranian woman with a dozen gold bracelets. She has kept us actually healthy with quality care of our teeth for almost 15+ years! And she cares about how we are doing and will call to make sure we are OK if we call with a problem. I do a background check of ALL my doctors and dentists (they don’t know that). I want to know about their schooling, background, any malpractices, etc. I truly do. It’s not hard to do. And sometimes I will go visit the office or call before my appointment to get a “feel” for their staff. I want to know IF they are problematic or anything. I really do this stuff. I recently had a procedure done at a hospital where they were trying to say I had a “Co-pay.” I do not and never have. Called my insurance, put them on 3-way right there in the office, (which they did not want me to do lol). After that, I had NO problems. Even my dentist said “oh you will be charged $$$ for this type x-ray for first time patient. Did the same thing with them. BEFORE my appt date, went to the dentist, did a three way (they weren’t happy about that either lol) and insurance told them “she NEVER has a co-pay.” I always check with insurance: is the facility covered; is the doctor covered; do I need pre-authorization for this procedure; is the anesthesiologist covered; is the room and board covered (if I have to unexpectedly stay). If you get your info beforehand, you can better know what to do because these doctor offices try everything to get more money out of you! I’m not having it! For anything I do medical wise, I call my insurance FIRST. Even if THEY say “oh, we will call them”. Nope. I call for myself. I’m telling you, you will be stuck paying thousands of dollars if you don’t check for yourself what is covered and what is not. JS

@anusha54105 ай бұрын
I work in insurance for a private practice. If they were trying to get you to pay your “co-pay”, they were definitely wrong. That being said , $0 copay doesn’t necessarily mean nothing comes out of your pocket. Usually, a co-pay (ex. $50 copay) covers the cost of an office visit, and any additional procedures or supplies during that visit will be payed either towards your deductible, or any coinsurance once your deductible is met. But in the case of “no copay” or “$0 copay” plans, this simply means there is no set price your insurance will pay to cover office visits. Instead, they give us a list of average rates that your office visit COULD cost. This estimate is called a “cost-share” price. For example, at our office, Cigna will say your office visit should cost $97, BCBS will say your office visit should cost $133, etc. If it’s an office that collects payment from you same day, insurance could still process the claim and decide they want to pay less than the cost share (and you owe the rest). It’s all a game of estimating until the actual claim is made. Copays, there are no estimates, and your insurance has agreed that your copay is your office visit cost, and that they won’t switch up on you once the claim is made. If you have a copay’s this $50 copay now replaces the contracted rate they told us. However, “no copay” or “$0 copay” plans simply mean you will be charged the average amount your insurance says an office visit costs. And this will come out of your pocket. In our example, if you have no copay and your insurance is BCBS, that $133 will come out of your pocket for the cost of the office visit until your deductible is met. If your deductible is met and you have 20% coinsurance, you still must pay 20% of the office visit cost. It really sucks when some scummy places try to take advantage of patients, I agree. Especially when insurance is so poorly understood in general. I’ve been there on the patient end myself. However for anyone reading this, if you’re asked to pay for an office visit and you have a “no copay/$0 copay” price, you’re still expected to pay the cost-sharing price that your insurance tells us to charge you. It’s just that if you have copays, they’re usually flat fees for PCP/Specialist/ER etc but “no copay/$0 copay” is really your insurance saying you’re on the hook for the cost of the office visit until your deductible is met or part of the cost until your out of pocket is met. Hope that explains it okay ! If anyone has any questions feel free to ask here

How does a county or state give a new business a license to run a specific business that requires a license (i.e. lawyer, home improvement contractor, DENTIST) without first verifying that they have a license to provide those services? The license should be presented, verified, put on file and then grant the business license to operate!!!

Again, All different races and genders, people who look many different ways in appearance, can be terrible at their jobs!! We had a licensed dentist (a white dude in ties and well put together in a nice office) for three years who made a mess of our teeth. But he was very nice and looked the part of professional and knowledgeable. She is the best! When she saw the fillings and work our original guy had done, she was like, "What was he doing?? No wonder you have another cavity, it's growing around the cracks of his junk fillings and badly done cleaning out of decay!!"

They are allowed to do these brazen crimes because they dont fear the law. Justice is not always just. Sometimes, it depends on who you are.

I mean when the cost of veneers is about 2k per tooth and someone is offering a whole set for 2K then ppl should know something is up. She should be jailed

Be careful and stop taking the cheap way out. If it isn't a dentist, don't let them touch your teeth.

One go to an actual dentist who actually post their licenses on the wall. 2. Stay with the same one you trusted. 3. 1000 for braces? Its not that cheap. 4. People are just stupid. Its not tht hard to tell fake vs real dentists 🙄🙄

I went to one when I was just a baby man. I have to have nitrous just to get worked on, I start freaking out in ways i cant control. I was too little to have spotted the differences then, like licenses on the wall, and it was my first visit I ever had. Two teeth wouldn't come out and the school recommended a visit, my mom found these people and had a discount so she brought me in. But it was horrific. We went back when I finally opened up about it and everything was gone, we didn't know how to pursue that beyond a police report

She got me. I was told she had to be paid 50% up front but would give me a full set for half price. I paid 4,500 for a full set of new permanent teeth. She said I had an infection and could start as soon as the infection was gone. After it was gone she told me that she would set an appointment to do my teeth. She told me they had to make my teeth and get all the supplies. A month later still no news . 3 months go by and I call and she is no longer acting like she knows who I am. No record of me being seen. So now what does an old man do now? I wish see spends years in prison. She got me for 4.500$ cash and 900$ in money orders.

Might be a good idea to check with the dental board of the state regarding current licensing when looking for a new dentist.
@j.catzen64775 ай бұрын
This is why insurance is so important, you find providers through your insurance, your insurance will provide you professionals with registered NPIs... which are identification numbers assigned to registered doctors of medicine which includes dentist AND pharmacist. A number that can be verified. Licensed doctors can indeed do a bad job too but one can at least verify beyond printable documents that a doctor is legit

Thankful for my dentist being on the first floor in my building. He’s not even covered by my insurance but I refuse to go anywhere else unless I absolutely have to. He was the first and only dentist to be honest about my mouth/teeth hygiene and turned things around for me in just two years.

Idk how these victims are still so calm and speaking in coherent English. If someone pretended to be a dentist, messed up my gums and wasn’t already in jail. Then only God could stop me from getting justice at that point.
