Russ was NOT THE ISSUE IN DENVER....Pitt will be REALLY GOOD next year and Pickett is gonna learn quite a bit...

Pickett doesn't have the chops to be a franchise QB. But that's not a knock. There's only like 20 of them on this planet. Pickett gets credit for actually being good enough to be a backup, which there's only like 100 of them in this world.

Not true, he was a major issue, especially on third downs and more than 5 when he had a tendency to hold on to the ball endlessly and invite endless sacks or check the ball down to his running back in the flat for 2-3 yards. Rarely did Russ run through his progressions, he was too intuitive and not enough of a system guy for that offense

Denver is just not the organization it used to be and we’ve seen that come to be over the last 6-7 years. This is a Steelers win especially considering they’re getting one of the better quarterbacks we’ve seen in the last 15 years, veteran presence not just in the QB position but in the locker room, and a different style of QB play that we haven’t seen before, all for a little over $1 million while Denver pays the remaining $36 million and Pittsburgh gives up not draft picks?! This is absolutely a win considering the circumstances. And if Russell truly proves everyone wrong with the offense he’s going to be working with, and he starts winning playoff games, all of these networks are gonna look like clowns.

Right now, that is the biggest steal I’ve ever seen in the NFL, especially if he helps us win and Tomlin mentors him properly.

The trade was contingent on Paton’s decision to sign Russ to an extension, and it was a good decision. Everybody, including the Seahawks front office and players (according to multiple interviews), expected Russ to have an all-pro season his first year in Denver. If he had done that, his salary demand could have been record-breaking: $330M over 5 years. The mistakes were: Hiring Hackett; Not properly upgrading the O-Line; Signing Randy Gregory; Bringing back Melvin Gordon; Not playing starters in preseason; Not replacing Tim Patrick for two years; The players had no issues with Russ having an office. They were free to borrow it on occasion and did so multiple times.

Where would that have put Denver? Back at square-one! Try to put yourselves in an athlete’s position and see this from Russ’s perspective…put yourself in his shoes for a minute. Remember something: the Seahawks had no intention of trading Russ when they did, and that is well-documented. Russ had a no-trade clause giving him veto-power over all trades. The only way he could be traded is if he demanded a trade and formally waived his no-trade clause. Russ successfully forced the Seahawks to entertain trade offers by advising John Schneider that if he played out his contract in Seattle he would walk away in free agency and heave Seattle with nothing. That was THE motivator for Seattle to trade Russ. There are multiple reports of how Pete and John spoke glowingly about their prospects for running it back in 2022. As it turns out, Russ left a year too soon. Russ could have led that 2022 squad to a SB. So Denver has an organization hired a head coach who didn’t know what he was doing in year one had injuries everywhere. Not to mention Russell was injured in year one would’ve pectoral issue and a knee issue you too you bring in a overrated head coach who proceeded to demand that Russ returned money, then sat him when he was having a top 15 quarterback season with no running game One good receiver and a defense I gave up 70 points. We get it your best friends with Sean Payton. You want to keep that relationship but you’re a joke you give this no context you’re just reporting on what you wanna report so that you keep your sources in Denver.
@DeCurtaRican

You’ve never seen him have nice weapons, nice protection, AND a strong run game at the same time. In fact, he has rarely gad good protection, although his line in 2023 Denver was solid if inconsistent. Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Jermaine Kearse, and even Tyler Lockett were GOOD receivers but they weren’t stars, and Beast Mode wasn’t Derrick Henry or Adrian Peterson. It’s funny how other QBs get to have loaded offenses and good-to-great defenses (if not elite defenses) and are never downgraded for it. In fact, let one piece be missing and the apologists come to their rescue with more excuses than a p!mp going to jail. Russ has never had the kind of rosters Mahomes, Allen, and Lamar Jackson have enjoyed. In 2019, didn’t the Ravens send about 15 players to the pro bowl, including me if Russ’s former teammates in Earl Thomas? When has Russ ever had more than 5 pro bowlers, and has he ever had more than two on offense? I want to see Russ play with a loaded team. Every other elite QB playing over the past 25 years has had a more loaded squad than Russ. The LoB was a talented defense but they were also overrated. They never made me feel safe that the Seahawks had it in the bag. Russ did.

The only real haters he had as former teammates were Richard Sherman, Percy Harvin, and Kam Chancellor, and Russ and Richard Sherman were yukkin’ it up at Pete Carroll’s retirement party. This narrative that everybody hates Russ is false. Most teammates are either indifferent or love the guy. But let me also point out the obvious: many memvers of the LoB weren’t well-liked by everybody either. Furthermore, no WB is loved by every teammate. The difference is that Richard Sherman, on some B* energy type sh!t, ran his mouth about things that should’ve been private. I’m quite sure plenty of Saints players disliked Drew Brees after he came out against t, and some Raiders teammates turned against Derek Carr during the protests. Do you think every Patriots teammate loved Tom Brady? Mo! They loved the winning! Do you think every Steelers teammate loved Ben Rothlisberger or Terry Bradshaw? No! They didn’t. Aaron Rodgers is prickly with teammates, especially young ones, and I doubt Jordan Love is a big fan. Russ is no different from any other player, and he didn’t alienate sh!t. He got the perks that go with a QB who averages 11-5 for a decade with two SB appearances and upwards of 40 game-winning drives. Teammates won’t sweat an office, especially when they’re invited to use it! Russ wanted that office for Dirk! He arrives before everyone and tends to stay later than everyone. He wanted it to optimize his time. Like I said, watch Brandon Marshall’s video on this platform. You’ll come away with a different perspective from a guy who knows him well. Russ is a good dude. He’s corny and demanding and may even come off as being a little phony, but he’s a good dude and a winner! You wanna talk diva? Brady and Rodgers are divas! Many of the athletes and entertainers you admire are different in real life, and if you were to speak to people who know them personally they would all have negative things said about them. If the worst thing you can say about an athlete is that he’s corny and demanding, you’re on good shape. Sean Payton is a fraud and a loser.

@@talbotdarren: Bobby Wagner, Earl Thomas, Jadeveon Clowney, and Cliff Avril loved Russ! Secondly, Russ did have his defenders, including Golden Tate, Brandon Marshall, and even Marshawn Lynch at times. Your entire post is 🗑️

Mike Tomlin realized they would never do better than 20th in the draft as they dont coach to lose. They got a veteran who is proven and they got a Top 11 kid cheap with upside that they can groom and make better. This is actually incredibly smart
