Have you been able to follow up with this interview? I'm seriously looking at this UAS unit for surveys and would like to know how this has evolved over the past year.

Any update on whether he has confirmed the use of GCP are not required with the RTK unit?

Thanks guys. Really good and objective information on the P4-RTK. I appreciate Jason sharing his practical, real world experiences using the RTK without a sales pitch. It was very straight forward, with more technical explanations only when needed. Good to hear it from a fellow land surveyor. (Paul, I didn’t see a link you mentioned for a supplier.)

When you cant get RTK signal on the ground, the Phantom 4 RTK will not allow takeoff. Turn off RTK software switch, get drone airborne using GNSS, then switch RTK back on. It will get lock when its above the buildings. Had to do it a few times when taking off between buildings.

Surveyors need to establish a spacial relationship between the photogrametry and ground based measurements on monuments, utilities, and other features. GPPs make this possible because the GCPs can be used as control points for other survey equipment. I'm not relying on coordinates alone to relate the boundary survey to the photogrametry. GCPs are a must.

Thanks to Jason for the Surveyor's perspective. For my surveying, GCPs will be required for the foreseeable future. We have GPS rovers and total stations on site anyway, so shooting the GCPs is not a problem. As surveyors, we need to quantify the accuracy of the data, which is relatively easy when using GPPs. I'll stick with the P4 Pro for now.

I'm curious as to the need for GCP's for large topo survey's where accuracy beyond a few tenths isn't necessary. We do a lot of large land development projects specifically golf course conversions where we use traditional Leica rtk gps. Most of our clients could care less if we are off by up to a half of foot. In these cases couldn't you just put out the project as is?

I would be interested on your thoughts about using 1nr Propeller Aeropoint with the Phantom 4 RTK , I see they are offering a subscription plus 1nr Aeropoint instead of having to buy a set of 10

I'm Curious about the accuracy of having a base compared to working from a network solution. Also the accuracy of the final product between using straight GCP's and using RTK with base and GCP's.

when we use Matrice 300 RTK with D-RTK 2 Mobile Station for matrice series Does it necessary require an internet connection will the RTK work in Area where there is no internet or even mobile phone signals ???

Hello there, I didn't see the link to where you can purchase the RTK on your podcast. I might not have looked hard enough! Can you provide the information here, though? Thanks!

Is the Matrice 210 RTK V2 PPK able, if you will?

Open the freeflight JPEG in a text editor, the RTK accuracy (STD) is located in there in the XMP data.
@christopherkeefe96666 жыл бұрын
The RTK data is not in the EXIF, its in the XMP data directly encoded in the JPG as viewed in a text editor.

Thank you Paul. Can you please review the Yuneec H520 RTK and the H520 -G? I know you're not a fan of the E90 )or E50) due the lack of the mechanical shutter...but with a slow speed or a stop/shoot option the result will improve. PS: Not related to the mapping, please review also the E10T camera. You videos are a big help for all of us. Keep up the good work!

When using Terrain Awareness option; what is the P4R using as its datum? I load a DSM (SRTM 1 sec) lat long wgs84. The planning is fine (although you can't load a boundary kml at the same time) It doesn't seem to matter if I set the capture height to 60 or 100m when the drone operates, it wants to go up to 140m above terrain. It follows the terrain but the actual capture height is not relevant to the take off point. Any tips?

Great vids, question, Is the mobile station can be use to record GCP locations?

not yet, DJI is looking to allow mapping with the pole after a software update not yet released

do you think the ground station will increase accuracy ? Do we know if the ground control needs correction ? especially if set up on a known point
@wxjeremy6 жыл бұрын
I have a question that I haven’t found a solid answer for yet. If I’m using the D-RTK-2 base unit for RTK (and not connecting to a correction network via WiFi/hotspot), do I need a previously surveyed control point to set my D-RTK-2 at? Or can I just show up to a site, set up my D-RTK-2, and fly my mission with RTK? I ask because much of the work I do is at sites that likely don’t have marked control points, and are outside of cellular service for network-enabled corrections. We also do not have the equipment to shoot control survey.
@CryptoNut826 жыл бұрын
Wxjeremy I’m curious of this as well. If anything, it will just obtain a lat&long for where your base is setup but its absolute accuracy will probably be 10’+- as it’s not getting corrections. Maybe there is a static mode to occupy a point for a set time period and then be post processed later for tighter results
@guillaumeberthier9156 жыл бұрын
No you can't, your orthopohoto will be constructed with less deformation (because relative accuracy is increased), but positionning accuracy will not increase. If you use D-RTK2 base station you need at least 1 GCP and put the antenna here.

Hey guys do you have any more training/videos on the P4 RTK ? I work for a Civil engineering firm and we just one in for land surveying. Please message back thanks!

Their signing surveyor lists himself as an owner of Target Surveying, Inc. Which holds probably the most complaints of an LB I've seen.

Useful.. although our surveyors hate drones.. they think this little quadcopter is going to take their jobs!!
