I don't believe it. I have had to return to working a non-tech job because I can barely get an interview let alone get hired. I don't have decades of experience. Postings are a false flag.

Expectations are higher but I would say specialize in something if you don’t have decades. I had the same issue and decided to specialize in IoT. Most specializations are generally the same as regular tech roles in terms of the skill set you need. Just different context and pace

My on-ground experience does not match the claim that tech jobs are coming back. I can see a trend that they are decreasing. HR budgets would increase many months before hiring begins again. That hasn't happened and isn't even being discussed in companies in which my contacts work.

I'm guessing you were so focused on criticizing me that you didn't actually read what I wrote, or perhaps you struggled to understand it. You could be the most qualified candidate, but with thousands of other applicants, the chances of your resume being noticed or securing an interview are slim. I have about 16 solid years of experience, and I customize my resume for most of the jobs I apply to. Despite this effort, for every 1,000 jobs I've applied to, I've only received one or two interviews. In total, I've had probably 6 or 8 interviews. This indicates that my resume is either not being seen or there are many other candidates with similar or higher qualifications. You should use your brain for thinking, and by not doing so and writing the first thing that comes to mind, you're not doing yourself any favors.

Nothing is back. Jobs have been open for months. Developers are still ghosted. Data from retirement companies shows only people with salaries below $55k / year have been hired in last year. Dev jobs have been shipped overseas while systematically more expensive devs are fired in US. Just look at openings.

I haven't been laid off during this cycle (yet). But I feel there is a lot of people pent up ready to move on, but no one is hiring. I feel when the interest rates come down (5 over the next 1.5 years could be a bit ambitious though), there will be a bunch of people looking. Both employed and unemployed. Many companies use job postings as a free/ budget friendly/ low effort marketing tool to stay relevent in the tech and LinkedIn community, to "look okay or like they're not struggling" when in fact the entire Tech industry is struggling and reshuffling.... it's kinda scary for us professionals..:(

I am working finally. But, one thing I noticed was location. I'm in Salesforce administration. I live in a resort town with a couple of web agencies and computer repair shops being the most tech you'll find. I am an hour away from the closest tech jobs, which is still a small area. I am 3 hours away from a reasonable tech area. So, my only real choice was remote. I couldn't afford to relocate my family. But, what I found were people having multiple job offers, for hybrid roles primarily, near the big cities. So, location, location, location. Also, being involved in meetups regularly were helping people land jobs. This is also kind of a location thing. I had to drive over an hour one way to get to a quarterly 3 hour mid week gathering in a relatively small tech area. Most people work for one big company there with a few offshoots.

I see a ton of "junior" dev roles that are pretty much senior developer positions in disguise (with junior pay, of course). There are different categories of fake jobs. There are a number of vacancies that the company must publicly advertise in order to legally hire its candidate with visa support. There are jobs that are advertised to sharply hire and then fire the staff to inflate the company’s price or show savings. There are fake jobs to reflect growth, to reassure investors who pour money. For example, you need 2 Senior developers, Architect and tester. I.e. 4 people are needed, and the company places 15 vacancies to make do with different combinations of expertise within the budget if candidates are not found.

Maybe there is a slight upswing but they say the 2nd quarter is strongest so I wonder will it last and I wonder if the election will bring on more instability. I had had a few more interviews recently but it’s hard to get over the negative impression that I still have and I have to wonder what does the next 18 months look like

There are opportunities for blockchain engineer (golang, rust, solidity). But these jobs are not as stable because these companies tend hire and fire fast. Also if market turned red next year, you will most likely need to find a job again. Depends on your interest, i would not go into the space just for money.

@@elvis5667 I love the blockchain space but again, the companies are just like you said. They hire faster, promise higher salaries and fire in 6 - 18 months, then they go bankrupt. Thanks for your advice

All the best and good video. In my opinion it is still a good time to invest in different stocks like gold, silver and digital currencies. This is one of the most important skills to learn and everyone should invest instead of saving. Some may agree, some may disagree. My big compliments to Natalie Rose Strayer for improving my portfolio!!....

So much doomerism in the comments, but the layoffs between 22-24 represented approx 2-4% of SWEs in the US so still a tiny fraction of the overall workers. The other 95%+ are busy working. You wouldn’t think that though based on how loud this small minority is. I understand right now the market is very bad and very slow, but overall it’s gonna be fine with some time

It's hard enough for local people to get a remote job in the U.S without someone on the inside giving you the job... Best of luck. Fact of the matter is that a lot of these tech jobs where people seem to be living great, have tons of money and free time got there based on their relationships. Not just because they are developers. Look at games studios. They hire based on company moral and not overall experience.

Here in AUS its been a transferance from contracting to permanent roles which are nearly paying the same $190k a year is about median for a Senior Hybrid cloud engineer or Devops Engineer like myself and the contractor low end for a day rate is $900 a day so works out around $197k unless your finding a decent contract role at the $120 an hour or $1100 a day which are out there but no benifits of leave / sick days ect so its a trade off at the higher end your making $240k a year but work all year with no other benifits.... in australia its a weird time as it used to be make alot more as a contractor now tech companies and the big boys want to pay near the same scale and it keeps retention and those skills in house
