Week 1 won't be about luck. The team that the Rams played in the wildcard was the 29th ranked D secondary, and Cam Sutton and Vildor playing CB were burned constantly. Rams will be facing a much improved Lions D secondary this time, and I expect the Rams to lose by at least 10 points in week 1. With Puka being covered, and Stafford being a pocket QB, Stafford is going to be on his back a lot in week 1...

He also goes down after first contact which was a huge problem with the coaching staff and they were always frustrated with him on that. While everyone else was scratching and clawing to gain yards and be on the field, he was still keeping the status quo of a losing team and not playing with a fire under his azz.

He wasnt reliable behind a philly oline he probably wont be behind the bears oline. And hes a rb getting older, and they usually peak between 2-4 years into their nfl career hes a great player but dont expect help later into the season he will help you to a solid start

Lions fan here, Levi Onwuzurike is a very talented player that was taken in round 2, after Sewell and before McNeil. He was known coming out of the draft as being a bit undersized for a 3 tech but had explosive flashes on tape and was a high motor, twitchy and strong guy. In some ways I would say that the Lions drafted Mekhi Wingo for the same role that Levi has not worked out to fulfill. I think he would have been more impactful than Cominski and Buggs for sure, and he is not far off of the Josh Pascal mold either. However he had an injury in his back that was not known about, he actually had surgery to fuse disks in his lower back, something no NFL player has ever had, and played significant snaps afterward from. It is sad really, but he has already defied the odds. While I am rooting for him, I am not sure if he can sustain it. I am not going to get into personal details but I follow Levi closely because his story hits all too close to home for me.

Bears O line was ranked 21st in 2023. Eagles O-line were ranked #1, and the Lions were ranked #5. Swift played for the Lions in 2022 and the Eagles in 2023, both seasons he racked up big yards. What makes anyone think that Swift, who's biggest weaknesses are his injury history and his habit of avoiding contact, is going to have a successful year in Chicago? Swift is only dangerous once he gets into space. Unless the Bears O line improves substantially, the only way Swift gets in space will be if he plays in the slot. And if he plays in the slot against the Lions, Brian Branch is going to lay some serious wood on him. Swift = non factor...

I always thought the injury thing was overplayed with Swift. I believe he missed a total of seven games in three seasons with Detroit, not that significant, RBs drop like flies in the NFL, his track record was average. Then, none with Philly? He averaged 5.6 ypc in '22, I would never call him a non-factor. Granted, he played several games hurt also, where his productivity was minimalized, but....still, 5.6 per carry... very good pass catcher. As much as I love Gibbs, I really thought we would have done much better keeping Swift, and getting Gonzales, or another top notch CB or DT like Kancey. The only question would have been, could we have resigned Swift. But with the direction the team was going, and our elite line, he would have.

Yes the schedule is tougher but we are not the same team we got better especially on defense. We were the 29th rank defense because of our secondary and still made the NFC Championship game and had the lead at halftime. Now that we had a great off-season and we are very much proved on defense. So we will be ready for anyone.

Every division, every year is tough. The Lions, on paper, were a much better team than the Bears last year, and they didn't deserve to win either game against them. The Bears' defense is legit, and we'll see how Williams is playing once the games come around. I always predict 1-1 in division games. Lions win at home. Bears win at home.

I think the NFC talent is a benefit to the NFC North fans. We play every other NFC north team twice a year and it is potentially equal to playoff level opponents. This will be great for the fans.....barring injuries.

Ask Duce Staley, former lions RB coach, about Swift 😂. Guy never went the right way, never did what he was told and never wanted to practice cause SOMETHING always hurt. In Hard Knocks from a couple years ago Duce literally tells Swift we need you to work through "some of the little injuries" LIKE THE REST OF THE TEAM. Swift is soft as 💩 but a talented runner. Yeah people get mad hearing him called a Game Manager but honestly I think he's comfortable doing what he needs to do and trusting the team to keep up their part. He had it kind of rough with how the secondary put him in alotta shootouts but he pulled it off more times than not. Goff could honestly play a little worse this year as long as the secondary holds up in a top 15 status and we'd have just as many if not more wins.

The bye week scheduling is a clusterfk, IMO. The only FAIR way is to schedule bye weeks by division, not by team. Thanksgiving week would be the only week in mid-season w/o byes that would begin in week 6 or 7.
