I was about to write the same. Its amazing how many reviewers/youtubers said the same about the pedals. I got my pedal just 2 weeks ago, and this was something I notice just a few minutes after I took them out of the box. You can move each pedal to the right and to the left. In fact I believe is a way better design that those pedals that have the holes in the front. Anyways, overall is a nice short review.

The only complaint I have about the pedals is the brake being way to stiff but you can remove a foam piece and it makes the experience a lot better
@thecornercomplex5848

Its so weird that they wouldn't just remove the piece if it causes a problem. The spring in the brake is already the strongest why add a piece that makes it unusable.
@Codrean
@Codrean Жыл бұрын
Have you ever driven a real car? There is a natural dead space and once the brake pads touch the discs the pedal becomes extremely stiff. I've bought a used G920 and put the rubber back then recalibrated the pedal. It is not that easy in real life to reach 100% braking power, removing that rubber is simply not realistic. For it to become more realistic, a two-stage spring is a better option, the original one is too stiff at the beginning, there is no dead space feeling.

Funny but its the complete opposite for me, I mainly race with open wheel cars that doesnt have abs so my wheels lock up easily and I use the mighty g27 that doesnt have the rubber block in the brake so i stuffed some very stiff rubber in it and my brake pedal become like a solid piece of concrete 😅(it makes it much easier to apply consistent brake pressureso my wheel doesnt lock up) It took a while to get the hang of it but i cant live without it now

Real racecars have a VERY stiff brake pedal. The average person can barely push down the brake of a Formula 1 car so the stiff brake is a part of realisim NOT a annoying flaw.
@nova8747
@nova8747 2 жыл бұрын
You're completely right in that. Although, I think the reason it's annoying on such a budget set is that most people who run the G29 simply have it clamped to a desk, and sit on an office chair. And due to the stiffness, they probably end up rolling back or swiveling, which is pretty off-putting.

In one hand, this brake pedal reminds me a little of a BMW 325i that a friend lend to me...That bmw had the vacuum pump and/or servo brake faulty. In order to brake I had to LITERALLY step over the pedal. But, at least in the sim racing the car actually stops. Thus, I would say the Logitech pedals are very close to the Citroën "Hidropneumatic" brakes. If you had drive one of those (CX, GSA, DS, etc) maybe you will understand. :)

honestly I find the pedals are fine, not perfect, but they're pretty usable early on if you can get a way to keep them from moving around your set up (though thats basically impossible on tile without a mount), though I will agree the brake is really stiff, but the big problem with this wheel set is really the shifter if you get that option

Hear me out: the thing with this pedal set is that I just truly love the build and the look and feel (not while pressing though :P) of it, for that reason I took the route of upgrading the internals with various hall sensors and TrueBrake, I used the brake spring inside the clutch and the clutch spring inside the throttle and I'm using a cable converter to independently plug it to the computer so I can use a different wheel. They now feel so amazing, as good as they look and I'd never want to change them. The TrueBrake honestly feels like a good load cell. I know this is not the most money upgrade path, but it was for me as I started with the full G29 set gifted to me then upgraded the break pedal and finally the wheel.
@TheGrimeyVibes

I upgraded to a true brake around about a month ago. I have just ordered a Leo Bodnar cable and a stiffer (38kg) spring for the true brake. The true brake makes a huge difference but that shitty braking curve in the wheel firmware makes braking so inconsistent. If the cable really makes the difference it is supposed to, I won’t be in a rush to upgrade my pedals because the mods have cost me around £100. Rather get a new wheel base.

As a G923 owner and experienced sim racer, the pedals are really not that bad. Sure the brake feels stiff, but for the price, you can't complain. especially with the amount of mods on the market for the wheel, shifter and pedals. it's an easy entrance without a big pay gap and it's easy to maintain due to the way it operates.. the bigger issue is indeed the sliding of the pedals. even against a wall it will find a way to move around. But if you're handy and know how to mount it or use a playseat ( low budget idea) using the 3 screw holes you're able to brake as hard as you want. It ain't Thrustmaster or fanatec quality, but it's a lot better than most low budget pedals. especially when these pedals come with the wheel. and if you don't have a drivers licence or driven a car, then trust me, you won't know any better.

3:20 actually you can adjust your pedals, though it is just slight a bit. But you can unscrew the screws in the pedals' front and there are three placements for each pedals to adjust, maybe 2cm distance from each placements in a single pedal. So, you're wrong, you can somewhat adjust the pedals and I think it is more than enough for a pedal set like this. And considering the price, I would say it's better than not having the ability to adjust...

My G29 pedals lasted less than 18 months. I had issues with the potentiometer in the accelerator pedal. Apparently this is common due to the amount of use the accelerator pedal has. I stripped and rebuilt the pedal set several times before finally giving up on them. I've now upgraded my pedals to Fanatec V3's, I could have gone for CSL's, but chose the v3's instead because they have hall sensors rather than potentiometers. The good news is, despite what others say, you can use the V3's with the G29 wheel on a PS4, all you need is the Drivehub and it works perfectly. You won't get the rumble motors working on the V3, but that's not really a problem in my view.

Here’s the trick to these. Buy the “loadcell” Truebrake mod from AXC. It absolutely transforms these into a completely different level. Find a good set from someone willing to give them away. Then remove the pedals from the plastic case and mount them either inverted, or to a stiffer plate (steel, wood, aluminum). I think to feel an upgrade now I’d have to spend $600+ on some real high end stuff with a load cell.

I guess I really need to try something expensive to understand this because almost all good games offer option to adjust brake sensitivity. You can get the pedal to apply 100% brake at 50% the travel which will take much less effort & you can set it exactly at the point it becomes too stiff.

They are better than some more expensive pedals that come with some wheels. Moza R5 bundle comes to mind. With a mod or two the logitech pedals can be decent.

That's why the older G25 pedals were better than the new ones on the G27. The old ones didn't have the stopper and has consitant pressure. Still using those with my Thrustmaster TX and TH8A shifter.

Yes, the brake is terrible. Nearly impossible for me to get any kind of consistent breaking, especially on a console where they don't let you make adjustments to the brake. You can take the black rubber part out of the brake pedal spring which is better but then the brakes are too soft, at least you can apply consistent braking. I have a 12 year old and he can barely push it hard enough to brake. He's gotta down shift 2-3 gears to have any chance of braking enough to make a reasonable turn lol I'm upgrading the brake to the true brake V2 mod. The gas is a tiny bit soft for my liking but it feels fine, clutch is also fine.

There's a lot to like about the Logitech pedals, especially for someone just getting into simracing. All the structural parts are metal and the design has been around for almost fifteen years now, during which time a lot of aftermarket and DIY mods have been developed, including load cell brakes. Their worst flaw in my eyes is that the potentiometers start to wear out and give spurious outputs after a few hundred hours of use. I've been spraying my accelerator pedal full of contact cleaner, but the problem is still getting worse. Logitech's support was no help. If only they would supply replacement pots, I'd have nothing to complain about.
@wm973
@wm973 3 жыл бұрын
I've used these for many years. At first I didn't know what sim pedals should feel like so these did the job and I enjoyed the sims. Then I saw a video... what to change first.... and started looking at how limp these really were. Like I said I've used these for many years and know there must be a better solution.. not a quick fix. So.... I broke my budget and bought true load cell pedals and I am very happy I did. Quality load cell pedals offer much better feel and control. I'm not a competition simmer. I compete against myself and that's fine. But these add a level of realism I was looking for. Looking back... yea... these old pedals should have been replaced long ago. I have to save for everything I buy so budgeting is very challenging and takes time. I'm glad I got the wheel/pedal/shifter I have because it has given me many hours of fun. But it's time to look for ways to upgrade and get deeper in the immersion of the game.

Which true load cell pedals are you using?
@wm973
@wm973 2 жыл бұрын
@@janguitarw2023 Thanks for your question. First I have to be more specific on which ones I was using. They were the G25 pedals. As with the wheel, shifter and pedals they are built like a tank. I'm still using the wheel... it just won't quit. I bought these because it's what I could afford at the time.. a long time ago. Professional gear was way outta my league. I'm no pro simmer so getting the emersion is my goal. I put up with the pedals long enough and saw the plastic and foam "load cell" fixes. From what I could tell they really weren't worth the effort. I decided to get the Fanatec V3 pedals because of the solid construction and adjustability. They have performed perfectly and I don't regret spending the money. As the article sugested... pedals first and he was right. Only drawback is they need a platform to bolt to. They are heavy so account for that to. Hope this helps.
@janguitarw2023
@janguitarw2023 2 жыл бұрын
@@wm973 Thanks for your answer. I'm looking for used v3's and csl elite true load cell pedals. Right now I have the pedals from the g920. I have mounted the Pedals and the wheel to a solid stand but I use it with a normal chair. Do you think it is fine with the force I will need for true load cell pedals?
@wm973
@wm973 2 жыл бұрын
@@janguitarw2023 Wow... your quick:) Once anyone starts to upgrade their wheel, shifter and pedals I would highly suggest they buy a stand. I bought the GTOmega Apex and used it with a solid wood heavy chair with no wheels on carpet and it worked pretty good. With my old G25 pedals, I really couldn't put enough pressure on them to push my chair back but with the V3's it was apparent I needed a solid full rig. Lucky the Apex has an extension that bolts on and is pretty solid. I bought one of their seats to. I've noticed that at times I am exerting a lot of pressure on the pedals. More than I expected so I'm glad I have the whole rig. So to answer your question, yes, you will probably need to make a platform for your stand and chair so your not sliding all over. If your stand has an accessory to add a racing seat, that would be best and you will have a blast and be more comfortabe. Hope this helps..
