My Thrustmaster T150 has served me well the past 5 years, and it would still serve me good. But i decided to upgrade - The rubber grip has gotten very sticky, and the table mount screw isn't the most stable but the quality of the internals is solid for the price. The plastic grip of the screw is easy to break when installing the wheel on a table, especially if you want to really tighten up the wheel on your desk. - After it broke two times, I've been pretightening the screw into then mount and just slid the wheel onto the table. The Force Feedback definetly isn't the best, far from it. But for beginners or casual Sim-driving/racing the wheel is perfectly good. I played on 60-70% force feedback strenght most of the times, because i had a wobbly desk, but also because the force feedback didn't clip as much and preserved detail. Even though it lost strength because of it, it made much more fun to play with more details. The Thrustmaster eco-system also comes in handy if you're having fun in the long run, because you could get the three pedal set and the shifter as you mentioned. And if you want to upgrade the wheel base, it isn't a problem because the eco-system also works on other wheel-bases. That's a way to save a little bit of money if you want to upgrade to more serious stuff. The buttons after five years have shown it's age though, at least on my t150. - Some of them were double-clicking or even triple-clicking on some occations, which made it really annoying to do actions (for me, turning on lights in Euro Truck Simulator 2). It still was usable, but with the other issues i had (sticky grip and damaged screw), it made it somewhat annoying to use. - Put some kind of bicycle grip tape on the wheel to prevent that, or use it when it's needed. Another solution would be to get sim-racing/driving gloves, although it deminishes the already weak force feedback of the wheel. All in all, it's a solid racing wheel that could last 10 years, if handeled properly and having the luck on not getting a faulty product, which can happen to anyone, if we're being real here. I personally had more issues with Logitech-wheels with the quality side of things. My Driving Force GT started smoking after the FFB-motor died, and friends of mine had software-problems with the G27 and also the G29 on the PC. - But I've also had some other friends around me that are very happy with the Logitech wheel. In conclusion, if you can get the g29 for 200€ (new), go for it. The build quality is better compared to the T150, and the force feedback seems even or a tad bit stronger than the one of the T150. On the other hand, if you can get the T150 Pro (with the 3-pedal set) for around the same price, I'd personally go for that one, simply because of the upgradability path and my previous experiences with both companies' wheels. I hope i helped you guys with that. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Some G29 advantages you didn't cover: -although the force feedback is loud on rough terrain, the actual spinning of the wheel is smoother and quieter when driving slowly or on smooth surfaces -the force feedback can spin the wheel much faster than the T150 can, very noticeable when drifting -the G29's base is low profile and flat on the top, if you have an adjustable screen you can set it up so you can see your gauges through the wheel itself, just like in a real car -the stiff brake pedal is a feature, it only gets hard to push at about 65% of the travel, simulating the feel of the hydraulics in the brake pedal of a real car, it feels really good when you get used to it
@tonyhong202 жыл бұрын
I own a TMX pro and the T3PA pedals have a conical rubber stop that's very similar to the G29 pedals. When the G29 was $400, the Thrustmaster wheels were a bargain but that's not the case now when the G29 is much more premium feeling and has more buttons. I did a pretty common ball bearing mod to my TMX/T150 which replaced the plastic belt rollers and greatly reduced friction. The FFB feels more detailed and spins faster than stock, almost comparable to the G29 speed. But again, for the same price the G29 is a much better deal

I returned the T150 Pro after a week specifically because of the T3PA. Lots of wobble. Squeaks constantly. Of course you can take it apart and lube it but that's something I refuse to do with something that's 3 days old and is under warranty. And there are no spikes for carpets. It's ridiculous at any price point. But you get the same pedals with the T300RS as well... G29 has wheel wobble and the brake pedal clicks. Returned that too. I tried to upgrade from a Logitech DFGT and I honestly think there are no wheels worth considering under 300 dollars. I haven't used a Logitech wheel. But I've had two thrustmaster wheels and they both crapped out within a month. One even lasted for just one f1 race weekend (100% event length). It worked fine for the first hour or so then it started registering split second left turns at full lock at random. I noticed it was also spewing alarming amounts of rubber dust out of the back of the wheel itself. So I am extremely weary of getting another thrustmaster. In a world of electronics designed to fail I'll take the Logitech any day. Also, if I didn't know any better I'd think "Thrustmaster" was an elaborate sex toy. the g29 and g920 sounds like its breaking under load of the FFB especially if you try to counter steer or such. it sounds like there's gears in there and its making ratatatatatata sounds everytime and feels really jagged in ur hands.

Have now been driving the G920 for over 3000 hours of ACC play with no signs of wear. I just installed an Open Wheel Mod. Yes, the gear technology is relatively noisy, but there is a simple solution to make it almost completely silent. If you have some manual skills, you can do the conversion for 1€ in just under half an hour (Warning!!! Warranty expires) Unscrew the steering wheel, remove both motors and you get to the gear rail. Degrease cleanly and stick a thin layer of felt (similar to chair gliders) to the bottom of the running surface. Then grease everything well (including the felt layer), assemble everything and almost not hear it anymore. Quieter than the rumble effect of a controller. Because it is not the gears that make the noise, but the play of the rack on the sliding surface. Works for me now more than 2000 hours without problems. Even in continuous use of uninterrupted 12 hours. Can of course also be used on the G29... To do this, of course, remove the rubber stopper in the brake and if you want it to be even more realistic, close the air outlet hole in the lower sleeve with a screw and hot glue. Insert a thin round rubber seal into the milling of this sleeve and grease it well. Put everything back together and you will be amazed. Due to this conversion, the air in the sleeve cannot escape and the harder the pedal is pressed, the more it is compressed. It's not rocket science and both conversions present you with a better driving experience.👋

My opinion as a T300RS owner: The Logitech G29 should come standard with the H-Shifter for 250 bucks. (like they did with the G25) The Thrustmaster T150 is at best, a 150 bucks wheel. (not 200+) Anything 250+ bucks, one should start considering a T300 or better.

As for the build quality and sturdiness of Logitech wheels, I have owned a Logitech G25 since it's release and used it heavily and it still works perfectly. Only issues I've had have been with the shifter. I've had to take it apart and tighten the inside screws few times and once I had to solder a piece of wire to the switch that controls reverse. I have heard that some G27s and G29s suffer from overheating when playing for long perioids, but this can be fixed by cutting fer holes to the case or even adding fans. As for what you said about the Logitech pedals and the "too stiff" brake pedal, I see that as an upside and have even replaced the springs so that the pedals are even stiffer. Finally, Logitech pedals can be disassembled and mounted upside down (which I have also done) very easily.

This is a great review, I've owned the T150 and now have the G29 and agree the Logitech feels much nicer but it's just a bit noisier than the T150 which I can live with on my SIM stand.

I decided to go with the G29 because of the overall quality. I don't find it noisy, when I was experimenting with gain and damping settings the only time it sounded like grinding gears was when the ffb signal was actually clipping. Yes, gears. They have small end play and friction. I get the best experience when I turned everything damping-related to 0 and upped the gain to the point of near-clipping. The pedals were ok-ish, they are sturdy and withstand abuse. Default brake spring could use an upgrade and there third party upgrades available. Bad thing about pedals is the potentionmeters and their lack of resolution. Default potentionmeters hooked to the wheelbase get 8bit resolution. If you purchase an adapter that let's you hook up the pedals directly to the usb port the resolution is amped up to 10bit = 1024 points from 0-100%.

I have owned both. I started off with the T150 when i was getting into iracing before i was sure it was something i would continue to do for a long time. after i fell in love with sim racing, i upgraded to the g920 simply mounted to my desk with pedals on the floor. today, the g920 is mounted on an Obutto Revolution cockpit and i have a machined wheel adapter and 35cm deep dish wheel on it, deep dish paddle shifters, I have mods for improved feel h pattern and sequential modes on the driving force shifter, and i also have modded the brake and clutch pedals for improved feel. even umodded, my vote would be logitech because it has less of a "toy" look and feel about it even though the "genuine leather" wrapped around the wheel definitely feels like plastic.

Would recommend the T150 PRO. Do get the pro the pedals and the other version are shit. Yes the Logitec might be nicer to look at but thats not what you'll be doing. You get a better racing feel out of the Thrustmaster hardware. If you end up loving simracing you might end up buying add on's. The shifter for example on the logitec is a toy. The Thrustmaster is heaps better. If you end up upgrading over time you can bring the pedals and shifter along for any othter thrustmaster wheel you buy as it all interacts. As i read here before if you got a bit more money to spend the T300 GT edition is a great bundle. But the really isn't anything wrong with the T150 pro. At certain discounts i've seen through the years its an absolute steal.

One point regarding shifters: you can get adaptors that allow the Logitech shifter to be used as a USB device, so it doesn't plug directly into the wheel, but into the pc. Currently using one with my Thrustmaster TX and it's worked without a hitch since I upgraded

@ChrisFaa3 жыл бұрын
If price is the main factor, try and find a second hand G27 in good condition. I did this and it has been very good. Spring upgrades (pedals) are available too at a reasonable price. There is one potential weakness - there is a small optical sensor wheel which can fail after a lot of use, but there's a guy on the net making a nice brass replacement for this, so it's repairable. If you want something really good from the start - probably get the new Fanatec CSL-DD. People seem to like it (I have not tried it) and it's fairly cheap for a DD wheel base. Still going to cost a bunch for the whole setup though.

I’ve owned the t150 and then upgraded to a g29 for the clutch and gear shift. To be honest, with the t150 you can feel discrete positions due to the steps, while the g29 can roll seamlessly. While driving, the t150 seemed to be better tied up, while the g29 has a ffb deadzone around the center position. The g29 is a lot noisier, while the t150 has belts and is a lot more silent, especially when ffb hits. No, really, the g29 sounds like it’s hammering something down. The leather indeed feels more interesting, but the t150’s rubber is high quality as well. The g29 has a few more buttons and the rev leds. Now I own the g29 since a few years, I like it but from time to time I miss the t150. Still.
