Jay, the AoS and 40K Daemon Princes are a Dual kit that lets you build whichever you want. As for the stuff on the LoV trike, all that stowage was also present on the old Rogue Trader squat bikes and trikes. So it's a little of the old look combined with the new designs.

I'm someone who played back in 3rd edition. I had an army The Lost and the Damned which was entirely based around mutated and psychotic chaos cultists and marauders. Combine this with the new models for kill team and it's looking like I can actually bring that list back in a new form. I am so so excited. This is what will get me back into 40K. This is what I have been waiting for for over 15 years

The HH models are called Gal Vorbak, and if I remember correctly they were the original Possessed, hailing from the Word Bearers legion.

I actually love the Word Bearers novels in the Horus Heresy series… yes, the Gal Vorbak were the first possessed Astartes, and their Chapter Master, Argel Tal became their first Daemon Prince. It was actually against their will… and as they started to appear, it freaked everybody out, including themselves! Erebus was behind it all… ironically, the first Astartes Chaplain.

I may be in the minority but original Squats looked stupid and there is a reason they were shelved. These new squats actually look like space miners rather than caricatures from Viz. Also there is no reason why they keep doing the mining theme for Genesteeler Cults.

I just wish they had more "typical" dwarf design. I appreciate them trying something new but we already have two high-tech sleek/clean factions in the Eldar and the tau. And while I'll agree they're basic infantry was goofy af they were still great, and the biker theme was badass.

I honestly think GW outdid themselves with these new Chaos Space Marines and their cultist buddies, there is a touch of Lovecraft and Cronenberg and Clive Barker to these new minis and that's great! They really should look grotesque and weird and menacing, horns on someone's helmet just doesn't cut it, crank up the gory supernatural spookiness to 11!

I'm carefully excited for the new cultists box. I haven't seen anything about whether there's weapon options, or if they're all just melee weapon/autopistol, but at least I'll get extra bodies for my Chaos Cult gang, thanks to them having the same design as the abyss cultists. But geez, I _really_ wish GW would stop sculpting Black Legion symbols on ostensibly neutral CSM. It's like all Primaris came with nice modeled smurf logos everywhere.

@@Remixersoloman No, the Black Legion uses the Eye of Horus as their symbol an almost every model has one sculpted on it.

I expect we'll see unique cultists for each of the 4 gods eventually and then we the cultists currently will probably be aligned to black legion. Though scraping off a horus eye is not very difficult for most people to do. They can be covered with greebly bits too easily enough instead of scraping if you don't fancy scraping details. They're chaos so changing them a bit should be expected.

The thing I've noticed with the GW army books in direct correlation with their kit box art is that the colour background on the book will reflect the one used for the box art on the relevant units: Codex Space Marines (Ultramarines, White Scars, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Salamanders, Raven Guard) - Orange Codex Supplement Dark Angels - Pink Codex Supplement Space Wolves - Ice Blue Codex Supplement Black Templars - Purple Codex Supplement Blood Angels - Green Codex Adepta Sororitas - Grey Codex Grey Knights - Violet Codex Drukhari - Orange and Black With that being said, I'm digging the dark crimson colour used for 9e Codex Chaos Space Marines and hope to see it on their box art. More incentive for me to grab Obliterators and Havocs for my Iron Warriors.

The deamon prince is the same one as the one for age of sigmar so I think the wing option for 40k will be same wings that the AOS version got.

New Daemon Prince is the same kit for both 40k and AoS, just like before, no? They even have the same knee armor. It's just they got better parts into it. So the wings for it are seen on the AoS version.

The Squat’s mining aesthetic differs from the Gene stealers because the Squats have a more professional old age of technology look to their equipment so far, while the genestealers have a more chaotic design with cobbled together technology. I’m really excited for these Squats, I’m looking forward to making a triker gang

These models are really cool. I repaint the sergeant right now for my Iron Hands. They never get old and look way better than the sternguard models that came out later. 🥰

My only issue with the new Possessed is I feel like they're not really a massable unit, like if you want more than that one squad of five it's gonna look really obvious that it's just a duplicate kit (assuming it doesn't have a lot more options than the photos imply). Also just not really a fan of having faction specific enemies on the bases, maybe it's just a personal thing but it feels stupid to be fighting genestealers and for some reason one of the possessed is just murdering a marine. Also pretty sure that the Daemon Prince is two options of the same kit, one for 40k and one for AoS you can see things like the fact that they've both got the same knee pads.

the thing with GSC, is they can come from any corner of the 40k universe, they could be miners, but they could also be nautical themed, high society themed, any other aspect you can imagine, so they could easily shift them away from being miners, whereas squats are kind of bound to the mining concept. even if they did have two mining factions, that could make a cool boxed set, miners mining things and competing for some weird artefacts they uncovered

The Dark Commune models really have a close appearance to the Ringwraiths and Mouth of Sauron from LotR. Nice models though, the Mouth of Sauron was such a sick concept that was cut from theatrical release.

Yeah 30k had the gal vorbak which were essentially possessed word bearers Space Marines and they also had the mhara gal tainted dreadnought which was in a similar vein to the gal vorbak.

It's funny that you say they've improved the faces on the new show. I don't have Warhammer+ so I haven't seen any of the shows, but when I watched the trailer I thought the dialogue didn't match the face animation at all. The animation felt so over the top, like everyone was supposed to be yelling their dialogue.

Having death guard, thousand sons and world eaters separated means they have had to fill the void in the main codex. When they finally separate out emperor's children I will be happy. Good noise marines and sonic weapons are sorely needed.

I just bought the combat patrols for sisters and Tau. The number of parts that were needlessly subdivided is incredible. I am disabled having a slight tremor at times with less that 20/20 eyesight. Even with tweezer nd heavy magnification the Sisters kit has been challenging. I have not ganed in a few years but put together hundreds of not thousands of models since 1993. Start collecting type kits need to be reasonable, more and more detail brings diminished returns of players can not get to fielding due to slow building processes. My flush cutters could not even get into a few areas on the so it sprues.

I’m a little disappointed the Heretics are just from the Rogue Trader box, but that’s okay. Some people like to use them and they’re harder to get. The new Traitor Guard, that were shown today for Kill Team, are honestly what I was hoping for.

I'm sorry to say that I don't really like the SoB army. The color schemes seem random and the basing is extra lazy. The kit bashes don't seem top notch but I'm not really a basher. I love the idea though, and I respect the hell out of the commitment.

I think the randomness is intentional to be “punk”, I think it’s a cool idea but they are painted to a very basic standard which doesn’t really do justice to the models or conversions

At least the 40k release was something. The AoS one was small and uninspired. A single Skaven model, single Kharadron male infantry hero (which they have a ton of), single Vampire (which they also have a ton of), an option to use the 40k Demon Prince, three awkward ogroids, and 9 Sylvaneth models is everything. Worse was the news that they'll change Cities to a conquistadory crusading 40k Imperium knockoff (to add fascism, because you need to have all the dregs of humanity). 40k received a lot of love in the Chaos Cultists, I even don't mind Space Marines if they look like the possessed, and the Votann lady is brilliant.

Hey EOB! I just realized this while listening to you point out the similarities for GSC and LOV and I think it might be on purpose. The squats have a history with the Tyranids. I think them both being miners might be some kind of intentional juxtaposition. I’d like to see some kind of lore/set that depicts the LOV raiding an imperium mining outpost, discovering the GSC and just erasing the entire planet population which is what announces them back as players in the universe.

The real interesting bit of the LoV lore is that the V is AI! If that was discovered by the imperium or the admech it would be very bad for both sides. The LoV appearing just as the tyranids are being very much a huge danger to the imperium is telling, especially the octarius wars. It makes me wonder if they have some nasty anti tyranid weapons...

I have two units of autogun cultists from the dark vengeance days that I painted up emperors children colors. I’m very proud of them. Buying all autogun cultists after the fact was kind of pricey 💰 I don’t really play CSM any more tho. I’m furry green balls deep into orks

The face of the AoS Daemon Prince looks really silly IMO. That's the main drawback for me. The head on the CSM Prince looks really dope (although the paintjob on the "neutral" one isn't great imo. The eyes make it look a tad silly.)

Cool models for the most part but the basic cultists do look a tad dated imo, big ham hock fists clutching pistol/CCW, never missing traps and delts in the gym but i also don't think cultists in 40k should be Fantasy Marauders with Guns (The female looks good mind you). I would prefer them to be a bit more emaciated and 'cenobyte' esque, like the stuff in the 3.5 edition/Inquisitor sourcebooks. The Squat bike makes me excited to see what Squat vehicles will look like, though like many others here i am a bit concerned about how similar they look to Genestealer Cultists.
