I think the Whateverfiend is the real wrecker in the Eldritch Omens. I get the feeling either the unit doesn't sell well just now so they're using this box to shift inventory, or the various delays and hurdles GW have run into meant they didn't have another planned part of the box ready and opted for the Forgefiend as an alternative. Or some combo of the two.

I told myself that whenever the next Eldar models come out I'd get whatever box set they're in... I honestly saw this box and changed my mind. I dunno, I guess it's just too few models and they're basically all Rangers. If they had tossed in a squad of the new Guardians or Banshees or something I'd have been interested. We'll see what the new combat patrol looks like I guess

The Forgefiend ends up chewing up too much of the box's value. It's not a very useful unit and the model is rather meh too. If it was replaced by some other Chaos unit (a Hellbrute, Possessed, Raptors, Warptalons, Havoks, Termies, Bikes, hell, even normal CSMs) and you got a unit of Guardians and Cultists on top, then the box would be legit. It needs those filler units to bulk it out, and the Forgefiend needs to be replaced. And at the price being charged, I don't think asking for two more boxes of cheap units is too much.

i partially agree on the eldritch omens box, it just seems to small in size and even a couple more models would have made it good, like just throw in 2 more greater possessed from the start collecting box and a couple of warlocks and youd have a good box that said, i am going to be kitbashing the eldar into my dark mech army, and dont have a mauler/forgefiend yet so everything in the box is good for me

aos boxses: yea we stuffed in the asking price into one half of the box and then for the luls just added the same asking price in the other half. even if you buy it for half the models it will still be a saving 40k boxses: so we added elite infentry witch costs more than double of normal infantry because uhhhh points in game

I really wish they would’ve done a range refresh on the Mutilators and thrown them into the Eldritch Omens box instead of the fillerfiend. I think that would’ve made the box a whole lot more appealing, to not have such a huge chunk of it (price-wise) be a model that isn’t new

Eldritch Omens is the perfect Box for my Brother and me. I ordered one and the CSM part is my small gift for him ^^ But yeah, I am by far more excited for Arena of shades as I have both armies. For the Daughters side I never bought the Doomfire Warlocks but wanted some, Aelves are always nice and painting skin is a hell lot of fun. For the spoopy side: everything is just beautiful and there is so much potential in Nighthaunts for painters.

Yeah Eldritch is kind perfect for me, I've got a small collection of Chaos (from Dark vengence) and my orignal childhood army was Eldar, so I need to refresh my range with this Wave of models, so yeah this box is perfect for me to add to my army collection since the price saving for all the models combined is undeniable, plus with Kill team incoming with Corsairs/CSM will only add to these collections.

If you're having issues getting changes you might want to play with more terrain. If your opponent isn't getting close to you, you're winning objectives and the game. Best way I find to get a charge is to just end your activations right smack dab infront of models (in cover (or not)). You do this at the end of the turn with two or more models and your opponent will have to make a choice of who to save first. Great fun, especially when their souped up mega death cannon bites it because some hormabug had enough of them.

black legion is my main 40k faction and I see no reason to get my half of the box. Maybe in 6 months off ebay depending on the new book. The chosen kit is really cool for kitbashing other CSM infantry. But not worth the box just to do that.

For me and my Cousin new Chaos and Eldar Plastics that are a mix of Monopose, and Multipose from Eldritch Omens are great additions to our new armies (And I finally have a Choice of Male/Female, plus Weapon and option loadouts on an army HQ). I'm still waiting for my Eldar Codex to ship. But enjoying Customizing my Rangers, as my Cousin is with his Chaos warriors.

Me a game dev: [Takes notes on how to make a starter box....] Which I've been colecting the enterity of 3 games much less factions/ranges... In order of least doable to most doable... Catalist's Battletech range I missed a few waves do to things but still can go back and get them... Dystopain Wars very few products but "expensive" $20-$50 for like 3-10 models missed a few again but absulotly will get them all only missed like 4 boxes... World of tanks minitures... Peice of cake only missed like 1 tank and am planning on getting the next 2 waves each has 4 tanks and each tank is like $15. Which I only recomnd collecting an entire game, range, Faction or wave if you like collecting things or have an excuse like apart of gaming club or are a regulaor at a table top shop, friends you just like to play not anything else... Or have a KZbin, Devainart channel or somthing to montize your indevor... Else wise no real reason... Oh and pick a game that's new, small and cheap.

It's a bad price point, they bumped it up. Two of my friends agreed on getting two of them, and one of them almost backed out. So yeah out of the three of us, two chaos players and one eldar player, both chaos players feel kinda jipped on the deal.

Estimated value of Chaos stuff if bought separately: $200 cdn Estimated value of Eldar stuff if bought separately: $165 cdn If they split the cost of the box 50/50 it's actually the Chaos player that comes out on top. Only question is whether or not they already have or need a maulerfiend/forgefiend since that's an older kit. Advantage for the Eldar half is that everything is new.

That’s tough. I think the model count makes it a hard box to split three ways. It’s still somewhat of a deal for chaos, but figuring out how to split it is a bummer because either one person gets the maulerfiend and the other gets the chosen and the warpsmith dude, but that kinda sucks for the maulerfiend dude because it’s not new, or the guy with just chosen could have just waited and bought them separate. The only way it works cost wise is if it’s split 1/2 for the eldar player, and 1/4 for both chaos players

Bottom line is price vs. what you are getting....It's very low on what you get $200 and it's not even close to what you'll need to field a army?! Insane. Look, dont get me wrong I know hobbies are expensive, my other hobbies are hobby grade RCs and bass fishing, just my one RC was $450, BUT I was imeadetly using it, and its still going 3 years later so even though a modest investment I as a hobbyist felt like it was money well spent, GW stuff feels more like you're getting duped, $200, mmm kinda pricey but ok I'll buy it...wait I still have to invest hundreds more just to get SOME kind of use for it?! And foggiest idea about the abilities/strengths of a faction before I go down a path to build a paticular faction?! So in all probability as a new player in all likelihood I'll spend around a thousand dollars all told to field a viable army and they will probably suck. And just to add a new kick to the nutts whatever I do it's probably going to change within a year at most because GW will nerf the units?! I would lose my shit if just for a relatable example take my $450 RC I mentioned, bought it use it, LOVE it. But one day Traxxas comes and takes say my great shocks and replaced them with a worse performing set causing my trx4 to perform worse now well that would be shitty but ok I get over it...then they come and change the motor as well!...see where I'm going with this? The concept that I could easily spend hundreds of dollars on a army and knowing it's not only possible but just about guaranteed GW will change them in just one move is insane to me! I mean I'd be at the company looking for the persons ass I need to kick! Not only that as a hobby these products are something I WANT, not NEED it's the producers of the "materials" that make up the hobbies job to intice me to purchase thier products. Agian take my RCs for example Redcat Racing is a cheaper alternative to most high end RCs but why they remain a thriving company is thier great company practices, every interaction with them as a consumer is GREAT, the company LISTENS to thier clients, parts and products that are found inferior are almost always instantly refunded for free and if found to be overall poor reengineered to be better in future sales. Even at "entry level" RCs redcats are bottom end $200, higher end 1kish, nothing to sneeze at by any means but before I spend one cent it's easy to know EXACTLY what you are getting and the path the paticular products will take you down, not throw $500 into the magic 8 ball of Games Workshop just to shake it up and get a "your hobby purchase sucked, sorry, please deposit another kidney and try again!" While I agree with the overal statement, we also shouldn't forget that AoS models, especially stuff like Witches etc don't have any real options. They tend to be rather standard models. Meanwhile, in particular the Autarch has a ton of wargear options and customization. Same goes for the Maulerfiend kit, and I assume the Chosen will also have some variety (I haven't checked out their kits). Maybe it's because I really adore customization offered in kits such as the Autarch; but this box would make me much happier than the AoS boxes. Fantasy used to do this as well. They overload you with models, yet for me that somewhat takes away from the 'these are my guys' feel. Though naturally that's different for everybody.

I honestly think a box with mostly new models and not a huge number is much more preferable than a box with loads of existing models. A smaller number of more desirable models is always preferable to me, given time restraints etc

10:30 they probably wouldn’t do it for chaos but if you could make the warpsmith like a 30k Gunslinger guy (forget what they’re called but they get two pistols and could sort of do stuff like Cypher but they’re just vanilla characters that I think any legion can take) where he just keeps blasting until he misses. There will be a Primaris lieutenant that does that before chaos gets one though lol

I hope the next box for Killteam wont be jungle terrain ... Killteam needs verticality to be fun ... and multilevel Eldar terrain would be mindblowing... as in ... never seen before afaik. I'm an Eldar player and have been desperate for new models and was excited about it and even the Chaos stuff as I could use it for Kill Team 2: Electric Boogaloo. The omens box suffers from the same issue that the last Eldar box suffered from. It's just insanely overpriced for what you get. Anyone who has played chaos for the last 5 years has multiple Forgefiend models because it's in so many other discount boxes. If they would have removed that model and replaced it with another new one, or even just something from the line that has not been in a discount box before, you would have a lot of people saying I want this box.

I really like the Eldar in Eldritch Omens, but sadly the deal is just not there. regarding the killteam terrain dough, i think it would be very cool if there was a combined terrain. imagine nice, smooth and clean Eldar terrain being covered and twisted by the energies and horrors creeping out of a teer in reality. from which the chaos team crawls.

Since I have both Iron Warriors and Craftworld Eldar, Eldritch Omens is a good box for me. (I've been wanting a Forgefiend for a while now.) I can see how this box is kinda meh for most. Rangers are niche within Craftworlds. Addind 10 Dire Avengers and 10 CSMs would have helped fluff up the numbers without overloading the box. This still seems to be a better box than Blood of the Phoenix.

I like their starter sets, like the recruit edition and the kill team and necormunda boxes, but yeah these releases don't grab me either. The kill team starter set i'm painting up for the nova open charities this year is a great value and man it was easy to prep. They have some great sets, but yeah this eldar one ain't one of them. Hit or miss with them.

The box isn't that great, but it fit directly into what I'm working on so I pre-ordered it. I wanted the rangers for my Ulthwe killteam, and the chaos chosen models will work great for my Night Lords. Not quite sure what to do with the Forgefield and warpsmith yet though. The shroudrunner jetbikes just look like fun to paint, and so does the autarch. A squad of Dire Avengers to round out the killteam and the Avatar of Khaine as a centerpiece will all make for a nice display group. Might put the warpsmith and fiend on eBay.

I question why new models need to be in big boxes on release 🤷‍♂️ like sure we are getting a saving but it's really a hassle.

There are always exclusive models in these boxes which you will get separately a LONG time later (if at all), thus people will buy the box and toss the unneeded models in their pile of shame.

I got the eldritch omens box so I can add units to my existing eldar army and to try out chaos Marines bc I have never painted any so it's a win win for me

I feel like they should have pushed this 40k box to be this year's big box with more models included. I like to think of these two player boxes as a great entry into the hobby, but this box feels more like a "What to buy next" set for both of these armies

I do find it slightly odd that the eldar are using a bird. It just seems too human for me. Give us some weird alien bird thing 😂

I know what you mean, I kinda like it though, makes me think of the Exodites, living in primeval planets in relative harmony with it's species, an Eldar having a Hawk-like companion form one such world isn't entirely unplausible.

@@dannyshadbolt229 Exactly :) Eldar who left the Craftworlds before the coming of Slaanesh and settled on Exodite Worlds, farming the lands, taming great beasts and generally being tougher and more rural thatn the Craftworld Eldar. They are super cool IMO and I would gladly collect them if they had an official model range! You can find lots of cool fan artwork of Exodites :)

@@Corellian Learnt something new, thank you for explaining. It would be a nice touch if maybe it came with a few options eg some flying dino from the lizard man range. Ooooh that may be a nice conversation project. May have to look these guys lore up a bit more!

The Eldrith Omens Box is pretty lame, because you are paying a lot for very little plastic. Fury of the Deep was cheaper and comes with 42 AoS Minis, even if half of them are just Firebabies, but the other half are dope as heck Idoneth. Now comes a 44 Mini Box with new Heros and a new Unit for Nighhaunt, already named Crossboos. AoS is just producing the better boxes right now.

The only thing putting me off of the new eldar boxes is the insistence on mobile units. I love infantry possibly supplemented by large vehicles. Cavalry equivalents are just not my thing.
