Your information about Napoleon is higly wrong. He wasn't teased in academy because of his stature, he was teased because he spoke horrible French as a child(since it was his second language, his mother tongue being Italian) and because despite his French he was the best student out of all which made all the other boys jealous. He didn't leave Corsica because of power steuggels he was sent to prison because he lead an armed rebellion against the French and killed 2 civilians. On his way to prison he came across the rebels in France and joined them against the government but later switched sides and got pardoned by the king for his help putting down the rebels. The short stature thing is a load of bullocks, he was completely normal height. It was the British propaganda that portrayed him as the "small guy who wants all" and this was reinforced by the fact that there was no metric system yet, and French feet and inch were smaller than the British. This means that if you were 5"4 in France, you were around 6" in England

1:18 actually Napoleon wasn't short for the standards of his time , its only propaganda by the coalition forces and a misconception between French inches and the current inches , he was 5 "2 in French inches which is just below 5"7 in our inches , and the avg height for Frenchmen back then was 5 "5 , so he was taller than most ppl
@colinp22386 жыл бұрын
Some of your facts are just gossip. It is now thought that he was 5'7" which was not short in the eighteenth century.

Actually Napoleon was above average height for an adult french male at that time.

Why is he saying "part good"? It's "good part"! Very different.
@TheWorldInsider6 жыл бұрын
he wasnt actually short for his time btw being 1.7 metres tall it was above average for all europeans at that time. Him being short was just British propaganda to demorolize the French and moralize the Coalition as pictures and videos arent created they only reliable source for people who dont get to see napoleon in real life are stories and paintings.

I met a man with the last name Bonaparte here in San Antonio Texas ..He was making a credit card transaction and I damn near fainted when I saw his last name…Of course I asked if he was related to Napoleon ..He replied ‘I am from the illegitimate bloodline’…😳….About 5”10 in height and looked very much like Napoleon..😁

Napoleon was not short, he was 5'2" in French inches which is the equivalent of 5'7" in English inches. (5'7" was the average height back then). The British called him short as propaganda against the French. And it stuck with people through history.

He wasn’t that short for the time, about 5’6”, which by modern day accounts is short but for the 18th/19th century was quite tall

Napolen was taller than avarega person at the time. He is said to be short because french feet were bigger at time than brittish so this is why he was fan of metric system

The notion that Napoleon was short possibly comes from the fact that when he was accompanied by his royal guards, which were purposely chosen due to both their skillsets and sheer height, he appeared short. In actuality, he was average height for a Frenchman of his time. If anything, his royal guards were insanely tall.

3:06 Not the little "king", Idk where you got that from. He was however called the "Aiglon" (little eagle) but "King" was never heard concerning Napoleon or his close ones. Simply for the fact that first, he was an Emperor, not a king, and second King was still a dirty word in France. Remember that the France in which Napoleon lived was a post-revolutionary France, the Kings and all of their symbols were seen as representative of the Ancient Regime, and a symbol of tyranny and bigotry. Imperator however, had a better connotation...

Bonaparte - or buona parte - doesn't mean "part good" but "good side" or "good part". Some adjectives can go both before and after the name in Italian. Bonus: the "opposite" is Malaparte
