I will have to check that out. I like tar hollow next door. I may hike both and camp over night. Did you see many camps set up?

It is a nice hike. Sorry for the delay in response. We have been sick. Anyway, the trailhead is at a campground. Although it is in a state park, the campground has a bit of a commercial feel. Nice, but wide open. There were a couple RV’s and I believe one tent was set up the last time we where there. We plan on checking out this campground this spring or summer. Don’t recall any backcountry options on the trail.

@@BushesOnTheTrail I finally made it down a few months ago. I hiked about 12 miles and I agree, the hill on sugarloaf was no joke. I liked the park but did not care for the tore up trails due to the horses. A group of us are going back down in December to camp and hike. Camp ground is small but I doubt many will be there in the winter months.

@@rickshears1 I agree horses can kill the trail conditions and make them miserable after a rain. Hope you enjoy your trip in December. I agree that nobody will be at the campsite in December, but you may want to check with the ODNR or State Park System to make sure it is open for use before your trip. Happy Trails!

Yeah, I'm from Columbus Ohio and when people come here from out west, they're always saying how flat Ohio is, but I always ask them "have they've been to the eastern or southern parts of Ohio?" they say no. lol I'm like go to Cincinnati, the city is nicked named "The City That Sits On 7 Hills". We do have mountains in Ohio, In North East, South East and South West. They're not the biggest Mountains like what you can find in Gatlinburg or out West, but none the less they are mountains.

Sugarloaf is fun. Sand Hill is good. If you want good elevation, this is a great spot.
