I think Askren is a great dude: funny, good at talking and a hell of a salesman. I honestly feel like if Askren ever stood a chance against any of the top UFC guys it was years ago for 2 reasons: 1) he was closer to his prime and 2) guys evolved a lot in the past few years, the UFC's welterweight divisions stacked af right now. The ones he stood a chance against back then (Robbie, Masvidal) nearly killed him twice in two fights, they were both scary af to watch tbh. Usman/Colby/Woodley are on a whole different level, either of them would completely destroy Askren. His one dimensional, charge forward style just doesn't work anymore when there are people who could wrestle with him all day while lighting him up on the feet. They should keep him on staff for commentating/commercials, maybe a few UFC related shows. His "Top 5 Grapplers in the UFC" list was very entertaining. A few more fights like these and he will have too much brain damage to have any type of career after, hell with his style he might end up actually dying: Jorge could have easily shattered Ben's skulll/smashed his face in with a shot like that and even without that the speed his brain smashed against his skull both in the flying knee and the head slam pushed him years closer to CTE. I say call it quits while you still have you brain, you can make plenty of money off that.

Actually the shorter the knockout the better, means he didn't get dominated. Notice the story is all about the freak knockout, which can happen to anyone, and not about Bens skill or him getting outclassed. Huge win for Masvidal, not such a total loss for Askren.

the only skill Ben demonstrated was putting his head in the path of an oncoming train without noticing or even checking even though he said he expected something. Most basic skill is defend yourself at all times. He was dominated and outclassed for the entire fight even if it was 5 seconds. His opponent landed more strikes, more significant strikes, controlled the octagon, did more damage standing and on the ground and had a 100% takedown defence. Ben did nothing. Literally. That loss couldn't happen to anyone. Most fighters wouldn't go for a 2second takedown with no set up or disguise. Ben has skills but because of his pre-fight and in fight tactics didn't get to show them.

I give Ben the respect for staying humble and accepting his defeat. But I wanna see him take this opportunity to expand his fighting skill and get broken in by the more experienced guys in his division. He's not a bad fighter. He just wasn't ready for what UFC had to offer off the start

I agree with you. Ben and Ronda are awkward strikers and sometimes it catches people off guard. Like Ben has won some fights striking and Ronda beat Betch. However they don't throw a punch like a boxer does and they wince a lot when they take punches. Brock is also in their category.
