Mortgage applications dropped to their lowest number since the mid-90s last week. Demand is drying up. There are also several concurrent factors that will increase inventory and drive prices down: Bequests (boomers are dying off or being put in nursing homes) Short term rentals being put on the market due to liquidity or regulatory issues Distressed sellers and foreclosures due to pandemic relief measures going away (mortgage extensions and student loans being the 2 main factors)
