As a mid-handicap coming from an older set of CB Callaway clubs, this smaller clubface was more difficult than I thought it would be to get used to on the course to hit consistantly. It is a very rewarding experience to get a nice, square hit.

I recently started playing again after a 20 yr layoff. Back injury. In May I decided to give it a go. I use to play scratch. I was use to playing Titleist Blades. I saw these clubs and Loved the Small Traditional Head. After a couple of lessons. I was off. These irons feel great. The Sweet spot feels Awesome. They feel soft, Distance is a Plus. I love the fact that I am able to work the Ball Again. At 61 yrs old I still hit a Stiff Shaft. Your review helped a lot.

Rick I love these videos of the new equipment you do. I feel like you cover all the aspects of the clubs perfectly. I don't hear many give something like the sound much thought and hearing if it makes an odd or loud sound at impact is something that does matter. You typically don't think things like that will get your attention, but it does when constantly hearing an awkward sound.

Looking at all these reviews and prices of clubs, the average costs for a full set of decent, custom fitted clubs are just outrageous. $500 for a driver, same for a 3 wood, a hybrid of about $200 if you want one, $1000 + average for a set of irons, plus about 400 dollars plus for wedges and some of the costs of a putter and it is no wonder that golf participation is going through the floor. Every sport requiring equipment costs a lot if you buy quality stuff. The nice thing about golf is once you've done all that, you can keep it for a lifetime if you don't find reasons to change your gear every couple of seasons. The real price tag is the crazy greens fees and memberships

Not sure how manufactures feel about you discussing price... but Im glad you do discuss price... price is part of the equation when consumers purchase product and not only do we want great performance value but also great price value ... it sucks when valuebis inflated by marketing schemes "injected face" "Twist Fave" " longer distance, 10 yards more"

I have the previous model of the Apex. Bought them a few years ago, and absolutely love them. The feel is amazing. The only one I’ve tested that is close is the Mizuno forged. I’m an 11 Handicap, so I went with the regular Apex, not the Pro version for a little more forgiveness.

Ive not been a fan of Callaway but I recently hit the Apex pro and loved it. I thought that the small head would not be as good to hit but it is better. It makes you be a bit more careful about the swing which helps the strike and results in better shots! I love the size look and feel! WOW!

The "dot" below the number on the Apex Pro is actually where they inject the tungsten to adjust the CG. I have played the Apex CF16/Apex Pro Combo set for the last couple of years and will upgrade to the Apex CF19 (4-7)/Apex Pro 19 (8-AW) Combo set here in the near future.

Got to go in the bag, and I believe callaway will do a combo set where they will match the chrome finish and the lofts so people can have the longer irons in the forged and the shorter in forged pro to help a bit more forgiving but still the feel when needed. Shame they are excessively expensive though.

I got fitted for the old design Apex CF 16’s last summer. I just don’t like the design of these new ones as much. There is too much plastic backing on them, and the faces are way to chrome. I like the brushed look of my current ones.

I'm a low to mid handicapper with decent swing speed. I'm buying the mizuno mp18s SC but if I had the money I'd buy the pros in a heart beat. My god these are the best irons I have ever hit. Every shot was within 5 yards of each other with good spin for me (8500 for a 8 iron at 160 yards is really good for me). The gapping was great the shaping was easy. It felt like the club did the work for me. For a pro iron they felt like butter and the distance was 5 yards further than the CB or the mizuno even though the loft is traditional which is what I game. Can't wait for these 5 years from now so when my mizunos are beat and worn I can reason myself to buy these used lol. Now if I can just learn to putt and chip better.

First off thank you Rick for doing the review. And thanks even more for showing the lofts of the clubs. The Pro irons seem to be a throwback to the lofts of a few years ago before everyone started to tout distance.I am a weekend golfer but I noticed the sound difference right away as well and that was quite pleasing to the ear. Even with that price tagI say bag them Rick, I don't think I have ever seen you give an iron set that high of a rating.
