I currently have these in the bag and previously bagged the Apex. The pro16 are just as forgiving and provide a consistent flight and spin. It doesn't matter how big the club is if you cant swing consistently. you are better off to buy what you like and then take lessons to get better. no equipment will ever fix your swing.

I'm a senior over 70 just got a combo set of APEX PW-7 Pro16 , 6-4 irons are CF16. To be honest I like the PRO16 better the look great at address , no off-set and really hit the ball straight. I'm not long like I once was but if you looking to hit greens I would choose the PRO16, they hit great. I have DG R300 a little heavy , I would recondment the XP 105 ST. Some where down the road I may get them reshafted with NSPRO 950 in A flex with a tip of 1/2 trim so they would play between regular and senior.

I have these with the s400 shafts. WOW, they are amazing and I'm in love. Best irons I've ever had. I switched from a PING iron which I thought felt super soft (PINGs always do) and these are even softer. The only problem is that I've hit a couple off the toe of my 7 iron and wedge and scuffed up that perfect chrome....SOOOO SAD!!!

Thanks or reviewing these, I've been hoping for this for a while. I'd like to see the 30 shot routine in the iron testing. I feel that its tough to get a good review when you haven't played the club much, I'm a good ball striker but if I'm testing a new club or trying a buddies I never hit it great at first. always takes me a handful of shots to get the feel down.I play the fly z+'s irons and if i based it off my first 5 shots I'd have never switched to a players club. once I had the clubs feeling down it was night and day. I'll never go back. That's why I think its important to have the 30 shots. for all we know your last 10 may have been unbeatable. Keep pumping out the reviews. I have my set and driver because of them. I didn't look at cobra until I saw you on youtube saying they were very underrated, now they practically fill my bag!

Never thought I would switch from Mizuno MP's......but I did and now am playing the Apex 16 pro with recoil shaft. Love the soft forged feel, they are longer than my previous irons , have a high but penetrating flight, tight dispersion and the ball stops on a dime on the greens. And for me the longer irons are not close to each other in distance. The gapping is around 10m for each iron...just as before with the Mizuno's.

One of the best clubs on the market. i already play a blended set. 4/5 in the Apex with the lofts softened to blend into my Pro's. Best set I've had yet....

The have a custom mixed set now. It starts at 8 iron back with the Pro irons. Are you going to test it? I would like to see if the gapping is accurate when they mix.

Rick, Would you say that this shows that these "players" irons are just not worth it unless your a superb striker of the ball? I got fitted for MP5's/PSI tours in a fitting and generally have no problem striking a ball, however after a couple of weeks of testing the above clubs I have decided to go for the PSI's not the tours, just down to the fact of how much more forgiveness there is with them. Every test you seem to do for clubs along the lines of PSI, Apex '16, Ping G etc you nail them all pretty much straight at target and consistent distances, maybe worth looking past the outright "look" of the clubs and go for performance. If you think those style clubs are a little strong loft em a degree or 2 up. Its got to help #questfortheopen

I realize this video is over 3 years old, but I just picked up a set of Apex Pro CF 16 irons with UST Recoil 110 F4 shafts. It was a deal I couldn't pass on. Anyway, I currently play Mizuno Mp25's 3-pw with Project X 5.0 shafts. I really like them, but I've been intrigued by the Recoil shafts for quite sometime. The Apex Pros have Recoil 110 F4 flex 3-pw shafts, and they are very stiff! I was fitted into the Mp25's with px 5.0's and those are pretty stiff in my opinion. My Driver speed is 95 mph. I have a Rogue Silver 60 stiff shaft in my Alpha 816 DBD driver set at 8° and it's a perfect set-up for me. I gained over 20 yards on my drives with the Rogue Silver 60 Stiff. My question is, how would I know if the Recoil 110 F4's are too stiff for me??? I haven't gotten to break them in properly but just swinging them around the Shop, has me concerned about the stiffness. I've never seen a graphite iron shaft that was this stable. What would be some effects on my shots if the F4's are too stiff? I appreciate any help and info I can get. Thanks.

I went to get fit for CF16 and walked out with these instead. Was flying much straighter and almost as far. Love my clubs 5-AW in P X 6.0.

If clubs are going longer, as long as they're consistent on good contact, after a few rounds and range sessions, a player should be able to adjust, correct???

Great review Rick. I think having a standard stiff shaft would greatly improve consistency in the long irons, at least for myself. I can't wait to give these a try and I'm for sure interested in the combo set. I've never been a Callaway guy, but these irons sure are beauties. Cheers, mate.

Rick do you plan on doing a review on the pro combo set? I love the look and performance of the pros but the distance on the long irons are concerning. I love the distance in the regular CF16s but I don't like the "cranked" lofts. I hope you do a review lol if not send me your thoughts on the matter.

I know you did this review a while ago, but it would still be great to see you review on the combo set. I've been playing it a while now and for anyone from a 12HCP down to a lower single digit HCP could really benefit from the set. Also, with the new Epic irons coming out it dropped the price significantly. I see a lot of these combo sets being purchased in the near future. Congrats on the dunk at qualifying today! The first Ace still eludes me!

Any review of the combo set coming? I am having urges for the regular Apex. I Play stenson clubs, Legacy black, but my HCP 16 I dont hit the ball as pure as I hope. Seldom thin/fat shots but I struggle alot with consistency and now been looking for an easier set to play me down to single digits. I hit the ball high and my #7 carry around 160 yards.

I am looking to get away from my Miura blades thinking of trying these before I drop $3000 on a custom set of Miura y going cavity back what are your thoughts? I never see you demo Miura irons. I went from a +3 to a 4 index over the last ten years so I think I need to go with something a little more forgiving.

Good review. 6.0 is a stout shaft - Spieth uses 6.0. TItleist labels 6.0 an X-Stiff in their fitting cart. 6.5 is a BEAST especially in a 4 iron. It's quite a bit stiffer than X100 on a frequency test. Thanks for the review!!!

The day a 6.5 is stiffer than an x100 I will laugh. An s300 is as stiff if not stiffer than a 6.0

+oojjac but on the rifle scale the 6.5 is 7.0 fcm and the x100 is 6.8, so it is stiffer. And, sorry to say, there is an even bigger gap between the s300 (5.8) and the 6.0 (6.5 fcm). The difference is in their bend profile. I love x1's, and used s3's before that, but can't stand the feeling of a PX shaft; they just feel dead, which in turn makes them feel stiffer.

+Diamnzpuck Again, "TITLEIST" calls the 6.0 an X-Stiff in their fitting cart. (They did last year, maybe they changed it). If you look at the fitting cart the butt cap at the end of the shafts is labelled. 6.0 is "X-stiff" on that little plastic cap.

+oojjac 6.5 is stiffer than an X100. There is no debate. It's .3 FCM stiffer. And the other thing is that Px is stiffer at the butt where X100 is stiffer at the tip and softer at the butt. When a shaft is stiffer near your hands it gives an impression of being even stouter than it really is because you don't sense the load. That's why DG X100 feels so smooth - the softness in the butt section.

2021 looking for new clubs got fitted for Callaway mavrik pros and seen an offer on eBay £200 for a full set from 4 - PW for these ones. And straight on to see if rick had any thoughts on them. The angle when the ball is coming in to the green with this new software is a little bit odd. It's hard to see ground level so when the ball land on the green it comes as a surprise. the old angle was better but the graphics is a lot better with this version. Great videos anyhow!

( had rsi to prior to this ) I am still using R15s is it worth upgrading to either M1 or M2. I am considering demoing them, is it worth it or a waste of time even demoing ? KR JUSTIN

Last February my Callaway X-14s went missing out of the trunk of my car; I'd had them since 2000. Thankfully, my insurance company came through. Now, I own the Apex Pro 16, 3-AW Steel Project X Stiff. I've heard players say "you can't buy a game", that's not true; my game has improved significantly but primarily because of the shaft. The $1,300.00 spent was well worth it. Like a good neighbor State Farm is there.

I've got the previous model apex pro and they are fantastic. Workable, beautiful feel with a degree of forgiveness. But, the satin finish is awful. Looked two years old after 3 months. battered and bruised. I look after my clubs but they weathered very quick. Chrome all the way for me next time round. id be inclined to wait 6 months and check used reviews and see if callaway have sorted the finish issues.

As i can see, for answer to the question, Rick have so much unconsistency with Apex. Hogan's test seems so far controllable, every shot was consistent so far. Maybe is a bad form period, but this awesome looking irons seems not so controllable. My opinion. Apex CF seems good also for very high hp, power irons and very good looking. I'll never do the mistake to buy a chunky set at all!

Not the most consistant data , my advice is stay away from the 3-4-5 irons in this set thats where the tungsten hell begins . The 5 iron is playable but with the 3 and the 4 feel goes right out the window the tungsten seems to dampen the iron feedback,??!" leaving me with no clue why i came up 10 yards short , The rest of the series AW-6 iron is EPICLY GOOD 3 have no clue what happende in the test because a 12 yard spread on a pw is just sick for a decent hit and i have never seen it and i hit like alot with that very club . any external factors ??

Stupid irons, how can a PW carry 140 a 7 iron 180 and a 4 iron 200, the gapping is well out surely. It just shows how everything's about distance and not control or playability. Like you say if you want distance there's loads of clubs M2 or g max or any Cobras.
