Just an idea for those who are not able to have a reference sheet or don't want to go look for one all the time. I take a small piece of paper, color it with the marker then tape it to the marker. That way I have a reference, but, I don't have to pull out a sheet all the time. I do have a swatch sheet for some things, but, I did it with my gel pens because they never matched the cap. Try it, you might find it works for you.

I own both the old version and new version of the 80 marker set. I am so curious as to how the colors differ and what once they added. Time to research!
@thefrugalcrafter6 жыл бұрын
the big difference is they had some super pale shades that were in the 120s and 130s that arent in the new set but there are pastels so maybe the got rid of colors they though were redundant? And the neons are alcohol based instead of the odd waterbased neon color that were in the old set.

Do you know if we can replace the nibs in Ohuhu alcohol markers with a brush nib? What brand would fit them. I have the 200 set and I’m very upset as I cannot get into small corners without going outside the line. I’ve even seen a brand that had an attachable brush nib thingy. By the way. This large set has a lot of very pale shades in it. I just want to learn how to use them since I have 371 alcohol markers with the bullet nib & chisel nib. I bought them because I wanted a ton of colors and they were less than the brush tips and had more colors but I’m frustrated now. BIG TIME

I'd try the replacement blick studio brush nib. They are awesome quality and way cheaper than copic. I think they will fit the chisel side. I just got the 200 set and am very pleased with them. Those light purples are gorgeous!

thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Interesting. If by chance you try them and they work would you please post it. Thank you. Personally I don’t like the Blick Studio markers. What ink do you recommend stamping in when coloring with these markers? I thought Momento Tuxedo Black was considered alcohol ink friendly, but I am getting bleeding when using these markers.
@thefrugalcrafter6 жыл бұрын
that is what I use and it works great for me. Just make sure you have the ohuhu alcohol based markers and not the waterbased ones which are skinny and come ina round drum. If you have the alcohol ones and it still smears check your paper. A coated marker paper might bleed but I have used Memento on some marker paper with good results. Try heat setting the ink, that can help. Another odd problem might be if you bought the wrong reinker for your inkpad and it was reinked with a bleeding ink? Try another paper and if it still bleeds and if it is an original ink (you didn't reink it) I'd contact Memento and see what they say. I have never had it bleed on me with alcohol ink and I use Memento inks a lot.
@flamechica6 жыл бұрын
@@thefrugalcrafter Thanks, Lindsey! I do have the alcohol based ones and the images I stamped had sat a couple weeks, so they were definitely dry. My ink pad hasn't been re-inked. It's still the original ink. It could be the paper though. I didn't really consider that. I stamped a bunch of images at once and some I used Bristol Smooth and some I used just whatever cardstock I had handy that day. I didn't really pay attention to which ones I grabbed to color with my Ohuhu markers. Unless you look closely, it all looks like the same. I will take a closer look and do some more expirimenting.

these markers have alcohol ink in them like a sharpie. I wouldn't use them over gesso because the alcohol can dissolve the acrylic and clog the nibs but you can gesso over them if you like. I like memento black and neenah classic crest super smooth cardstock in solar white.

These look nice!! They seem quite affordable, though I get uncomfortable with things that are not created to be refillable (in the sense that they don't sell refills for those and one has to try and find a matching copic refill).
@thefrugalcrafter6 жыл бұрын
Doing that is very expensive. I have discussed this with a company who was going to offer refills for a product down the line and in order for them not to lose their shirts they need to sell a massive amount if markers at a higher pricepoint to make it work, in other words you won't find a cheap refillable one. That said I would never need refills for every color, just a few of my pale copies but they still have to make each color available and you need a lot of customers and stockists to make it happen. With the nearly 400 colic in colors I am sure someone could get a really close shade of in but when a bottle costs $8 they may not for a 50 cent marker. Bottom line you can refill if you want lol:)

I have had the new style Ohuhu markers for a while but when I got mine the biggest was 80 colors. I have really enjoyed them but I do wish they had some lighter colors. I have bought a few lighter colors open stock from other brands. I have a few of the concept markers. The colors of those are nice but the design of the marker barrel/cap is frustrating. The covers are tight and sometimes the markers actually pull apart when removing them.

I have a full set of TouchFive markers that I got a bit over a year ago. I have always stored them lying on their side, but I have found that they are starting to dry up - not all of them, but I have a small pile of 5 or 6 that I have noticed are now dried up. Meanwhile, I have a tiny set of Prismacolor markers that I've had for more than 10 years that are as juicy as ever!! I do want to get a new set of alcohol markers at some point, but I'd rather not deal with the drying up. I'm not prepared to spring for Copic or Prismacolor markers, given the price, so those are off the table for me (at least large quantities of them). I think the Blick brush markers might be the ticket, but does this brand last without drying up? I have also noticed that over the course of a few months, a drawing colored with the TouchFive markers is prone to notable fading, even when not exposed to light (but even more so for the one I have had hanging up in my house!!). The fading seems like a bit more than I would have expected and is a bit disappointing. Not sure if it's just the quality of the markers, or if that is something I can expect to see with other markers as well.
@qud39136 жыл бұрын
Well, the best advice is, go with TouchFive/Ohouo markers for works you will be scanning/practicing with, but serious work requires expensive materials, and as much as I would love to say the cheap markers/colors are the same as the expensive ones; They're not.. especially on the long lasting comparison.

That would be about 100 projects, hmmm you may have used up the ink. You can try adding a few drops of features alcohol to them and revive the ink that is left and if the ink is used up (not just dried up) you will have some paper shades and that's not a bad thing:)

Also, as you said, very VERY few pastels, yet colors 32-37 are virtually identical?? Go figure! lol
@thefrugalcrafter6 жыл бұрын
+Robin Schaefer lol, I just posted a time lapse with these and I used the chisel more than the bullet. Fun fact the original copics were bullet/chisel tip and they replaced the bullet with a brush tip so maybe some like the chisel brush combo best. I started with prismacolor markers so I am comfortable with a chisel tip but blending with a brush tip is so much easier. I think it is more about cost than preference on using a chisel vs a brush tip as replacement brush tips are about $2 or more each (for the good foam ones) so it wouldn't be possible for a 50 cent marker. Studio 71 markers have brush and chisel and they run about $1 each in sets in sale. The tips are a felt brush so not as nice as copic but they do blend better. I have a review if you want to see. The 48 set goes on dale for $40 often and replacement markers are $2 and that us the cheapest brush marker I've found. Blick studio (I also reviews those) have a foam brush like copic at just over $2 each in sets, about $3 open stock, are an excellent choose fie an affordable brush tip marker too.
@mcescher19576 жыл бұрын
Lol...you're probably right...I watch quite a few "inexpensve" marker reviews and the number one complaint is "no brush tip". I don't mind a bullet as long as it's not too chunky...my first alcohol markers were the original Promarkers because they were so much cheaper than Copics (in fact I ordered them from an online shop in the UK that had free shipping!) To each his own I guess...I don't use the chisel often, but now at least with Copics you can buy a fine bullet to replace that chisel if you want. After 10 long years my Copic collection is complete...but I have been looking for an inexpensive (relatively) brush tip alcohol marker to use with my coloring books, as the thought of wasting precious Copic ink on a coloring book makes me uncomfortable! I hope I didn't sound snarky...I didn't mean to, it's hard to convey tone when you're just typing...lol. Great video as usual...and don't mind about your fingers...mine tend to always look like that....lol (BTW...in your opinion...does a decent set of inexpensive brush tip alcohol markers exist?)

Anyway have a good day!

The sets have not increased in price as long as I have used them, they have always worked out to about 50 cents a marker or a bit less the larger the set. I don't let the fact that a product was sent me me for free influence my review. I review it with the price of the item in mind to determine if the item is a food value or not. I get multiple emails a day offering products to review and i simply dont have the time but when there is a change to a product i recommended in the past i want to see if they are still worth reccomending. Are they as high quality as copics? Of course not, the brush tip and the fact you can buy refills sells that marker. But many people can't afford, or dont want, to spend $500+ for 100 colors when there is a $46 set that does a great job. I am not sure why this would annoy you unless you owned a marker company yourself.
@AmieCreationsx6 жыл бұрын
thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich I don’t need you to see why it would annoy me. It does, I don’t need you to agree. Just voicing my opinion as anyone else is free to do. I never said there was anything wrong with the product, only that I do not understand why people are so crazy over these, when so many other “copies” like these are getting less attention. Though I can only assume it’s because Ohuhu sent these to bigger you tubers to review and other companies have not. I’m not looking for an argument with you, I just perhaps don’t offer the same view.
