Really appreciate your clarification. I am a BIM at UCI, but sometimes I feel whether BIM is the same as MIS, IS or BIS because at the end I have to find a job. Meanwhile, software developers might not be the goal when the programming language that BIM has is not as deep as computer science or computer engineer student. Hence, I have to find out what the career path I could find.

Hi I just got admitted to BIM at UCI. I’m trying to get some more information about the program before I decide to commit. I was just admitted from my appeal yesterday and any help would be much appreciated. How do you like your classes are they very challenging? Do I need to enter with some programming knowledge because I have zero? How are the career opportunities do you think the career opportunities are better with this program or a regular business degree? Is it easy to switch majors to the business school? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Awesome video. By the way, I found a degree called Business and Information Management. It also combines business with technology but it doesn't have any programming classes as a requirement. It does offer data analytics and social media marketing as specializations. In the data analytics specialization, data analytics and visual analytics courses are requirements for that specialization and no programming courses. Is this degree essentially the same as MIS?

My school changed the name of the MIS major to BIT (Business Information Technology). People I talk to tell me it's still the exact same thing, with just a "modernized" name. Do you think this will negatively hurt my ability to find a job as BIT doesn't seem to be a very common name for the major?

No not at all... You can call it what you want on your resume 😳

thank you so much for this video. I'm choosing MIS as my major InShaAllah. however, since you do happen to know a lot about this stuff- I was wondering what u think about Uni or Northern Iowa to get ur Undergrads in MIS from? thank you.

Is a masters in science ITM the same as a masters in business MIS?
@elijahansley80813 жыл бұрын
Hey, so I switched from an associate program in Business Info Systems offered at a community college to Business Administration degree that will transfer to a 4 year BSB MIS degree. Is this the better option or could I have stayed in the BIS associate program for the same result? Thanks! Your videos have been extremely helpful!
@ElevateToTheUnknown3 жыл бұрын
The better option isnt determined by what I think. The better option is should be determined by what is in the best interest of yourself and your situation. I think the choice you made is good. A 4 year degree in MIS is valued more in my opinion.

Is INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT (ISM) the same as management information systems?
@ElevateToTheUnknown Жыл бұрын
No, they are not the same but very similar. "Management Information Systems" (MIS) refers to the study of technology and systems used to collect, process, and disseminate information to support managerial decision-making. "Information Systems Management" typically refers to the broader discipline of managing various aspects of information systems within an organization, including strategy, implementation, and maintenance. While related, the terms emphasize slightly different perspectives on the subject.
