Mustangs rule. I have the Player 1 P90 version. Swapped out the P90s for two Seymour Duncan humbuckers. It is AMAZING! So lightweight. Easy to bend. Great tone. Can’t recommend them highly enough. The OG single coils are fine too… you can always swap them out and throw in hot rails if you want a warmer sound without doing any routing. If you want an out-of-phase tone, have your guitar tech put in a push-push tone pot so you can get that nasal tone.

Thanks for the video guys, there’s been very few on these models👍 Great improvements in the Player 2 Jazzmaster - love that rosewood’s back, the classic gear tuners, proper Jazzmaster pickups and a bunch of cool new colours . . Oh and I can definitely live without the rhythm circuit. Personally love the birch green! 😀

I love Mustangs and Jazzmasters. If others are happy with these Player IIs, that's awesome. I love that Rosewood came back. Just disappointed that the vibrato was moved and that the rhythm circuit was removed as well as the lack of normal switching and vibrato on the Mustang.

Does moving the vibrato make a big difference? I've only played a couple Jazzmasters and really want one. Trying to find the right one.

@@GuitarsRgood7 So I only have experience with more traditional JMs but my thought is that the overtones you get from the string behind the bridge would be reduced but may help with stability when using 9s or 10s? Not sure. I'm perusing Reddit's r/jazzmaster and r/offset to see it it does so I'll come back and let you know if I find anything from someone who's played them

Can happily confirm that the Player II Jazzmaster (got mine from Fender in Germany) in the traditional Sunburst is an absolute keeper, with pickups that really do the Jazzmaster justice!!! I also am lucky enough to own a Jazzmaster Made in Japan (MiJ) Traditional Late 60s, and it‘s also fantastic. The two instruments feel very, very similar overall. Workmanship is on a par, even though the MiJ was over 40% more expensive. And the pickups on the Player II are more Jazzmaster-like, for sure - with greater clarity and transparency (not that the ones on the MiJ are at all dull-sounding, though). I love both, and will now have the pleasure of going back and forth on them without ever having to betray my one big love…of the Jazzmaster. ;-) P.S. Even the bridge on the Player II works great. No buzz or rattle so far. The one on the MiJ rattled and buzzed (also due to my ignorance and inability to set it up properly) until I swapped it out for a German-made JAM Bridge (by Kiss My Strings), which I just installed today and absolutely recommend! But as I said, the Player II simply worked right out of the box.

Mustangs and Duo Sonic are almost twins, I have a both, this hard tail bridge mustangs are Just fantastic, the tone, the stability, the playability, so easy, so simple, BUT if Fender is removing the duo sonic, they should offer 3 model Mustang, 2 x Single coil, the P90 jems and finally a humbucker and single coil mustang (this is the best of all the options).... Mustangs are so easy to love!!

@grawman674 ай бұрын
@@NotALizardPerson81 Not really. You can go even darker with the rhythm circuit and turn the tone down on that below what you really would normally. You can get a great Woman tone with drive like that. Also, why is it an issue to you if some people want a rhythm circuit without having to rout the body? It's fine if you don't care but a lot of Jazzmaster fans like the rhythm circuit
@NotALizardPerson814 ай бұрын
@@grawman67 bull. The entire reason it existed in the first place was because back in the 50's tone pots basically did nothing. Now there is a HUGE difference between all the way up and all the way down.
@grawman674 ай бұрын
@@NotALizardPerson81 Yeah, but the rhythm circuit traditionally uses a different value of potentiometer that's lower, allowing for a darker tone if you roll that back as opposed to the 1k or 500 pots in the volume and tone. Again, why does people just mentioning they wished the Player IIs had the rhythm circuit bother you? I get not liking it but it can just be ignored

What’s in a name? I am probably like a lot of guitar consumers. Not a professional but a commited hobbyist that appreciates a finely crafted guitar. But many of us are on a tight budget so should one pay the extra dollars just for a famous brand name when you can get a similar guitar- some with even more features -for $200 less…or in some cases even half the price of these famous names? A Larry Carlton S3 or T3 is half the price of these Players II’s; their S7 has locking tuners and a roasted neck for $200 less. Harley Benton’s have some fine guitars with the same features as the Sires but even less. And if I bring up Jet guitars we are talking even more savings and from what i see they are fine guitar. Savings that could be put into a better amp and/or pedals that will easily get the sound of any Fender (and you have to get a good amp anyway to make a Fender shine.) I tried the Player II Jazzmaster. (Darn no rhythm circuit) It was just alright. The pickup switch had weird noises and there were some strange ringing sounds when i played without an amp. Maybe if I had the budget to keep a few guitars around I might have kept it but i was not so so impressed by it and I am still looking for that (next) special fine lady of a guitar.

I will never own a mustang. If you've got the right strat then you don't need another single coil guitar. Unless it's of course P90 equipped. Jazz master are cool but again if you've got the right strat you don't need it. The tele with dual humbuckers can find it's way into a lot of hands. I play Gibson SG s and love Les Paul but they're just too heavy and bulky for me. A tele though just fits nicely.
@miguelangelvacaheredia82303 ай бұрын
I have a Fender strat and I have a Mustang, they have very different tones, Mustang has a Thicker tone and if you install a humbucker/hotrails in the bridge the Mustang get a huge sound, its like a having a great Les Paul but with much better articulation and clearer tones (mustang are really light), Mustangs are a MUST... the playability is FUUUUUUUN. get one...try it for a week....and you wont let it go. FInally....hard tail mustangs (player series) are really trustable... not getting out of tune very often
