Yes. Both are connected because they are easily two of the sickest films of all time. Point Break is a masterclass in what an action film/bank heist film is and T2 is, well, T fucking 2.

Well...Cameron was married with Gale Anne Hurd, dropped her for Bigelow "after they broke up". Then dropped Bigelow for Hamilton claiming the same. Then dropped Hamilton for Suzy Amis with the very same claim. All of these stories were heavily rumored in advance. It's really not a secret that Cameron had affairs with actresses/co-workers and replaced them from one project to the next one. The sad thing about this, is that the fantastic "Strange Days" (by Bigelow) was produced by Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment and got more or less no marketing, so it flopped royally. Cameron is a great Director, but as a human being? Not so much.

Again, thank you for all the kind comments and DMs on Twitter in response to this video. But now we ask what's next for the channel? I'll be dropping a video soon exploring where we should go and the difficulties that come with making such long form content. If you have any suggestions, please let me know here in the comments. Thanks for watching!

Fantastic! I really liked your first one and this also. You create a really good atmosphere, rather than just dryly reeling off information. Aside from the insightful points you make, it's also a very relaxing video to unwind to. Keep it going! To answer your question: The only film I know of where London doubles for L.A is Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Although most of it was shot in L.A. The ACME Factory is actually Dimco Buildings in White City, Shepherd's Bush. This was due to the interior shooting being done at Elstree Studios. Wood Lane Power Station in Shepherd's Bush was also used for a warehouse scene. As a sidenote: As you mentioned Chinatown and the Flood Canals, the conspiracy in RR of the Streetcars being bought up by Road-builders to shut them down so people have to drive on their planned freeway actually was the plot of Robert Towne's never filmed third Chinatown film. As with Chinatown, it's based on a real life conspiracy. Outside of films, the TV Series Episodes was set in L.A. but filmed in London, so worth a look. One example is Matt LeBlanc's Malibu Beach House actually being in Mill Hill, and outside of London the very Californian looking Updown Court in Windlesham, Surrey serves as an L.A mansion.

@ElevenYearz I'll be honest: The smooth British accent elevates the video from an objective thought analysis to an intellectual thesis.🧠👌 It keeps me watching. "What other insightful statements will he make about this topic?"🤔 As Americans, we see the British as sophisticated intellectuals.🧐 When narrating the same content, I find myself paying more attention to British chaps than American blokes.😆🤷♂️💯👍...but I digress. Keep up the good work. I'll await the next one.🤟😎

Utah sees Bodi's eyes and realizes he still cares about him, even though he's a bad guy. So he doesn't attack him. The T-800 pulls the shotgun out and points it at the wreckage, but realizing its only a tire, and is no threat, he doesn't attack it. Awesome way of looking at their divorce.

Wondering why you didn't cover Strange Days more than you did (I find it the singularly defining US cyberpunk movie). Story by Cameron (and cowritten by him), directed by Bigelow. There's something weird about it, and in my mind that leans a little towards the story of The Abyss which iirc Cameron is on record somewhere as saying it was a bit of a simple for his and Bigelow's relationship collapse. Also, it has almost always been near impossible to get a physical copy of Strange Days, or find it streaming, at least here in Australia. Has always made me wonder. Anyway, another great essay. Been years since I've seen PB, will have to dig it out and give it another spin. Thanks!

Getting Point Break wasn't exactly easy. His role in My Private Idaho got him the role in Point Break. Kathryn Bigelow watch My Private Idaho and thought that's who I want for Johnny Utah. However convincing the executives at Largo entertainment wasn't easy. They had to sell the idea to Fox executives and they said Keanu Reeves he does comedy films no he's wrong for the part. However Kathryn Bigelow had a secret weapon....her then husband James Cameron and through him Keanu Reeves won the part of Johnny Utah. Now casting Patrick Swayze that was a no brainer. Although he had never played a villain before he was just off the success of Ghost and the biggest actor on the planet at the time. So he guarantee bums in seats. Point Break became the biggest summer blockbuster of 1991

From the footage you displayed, Old Kent still does not resemble LA. Although some similarities present (overpass, drive thru, etc.), there is apparently way more walkability and pedestrian focused thinking for city planning than the absurd mess of LA and its car-focused history.
@ElevenYearzАй бұрын
True, there are some sections of OKR that are pedestrianised, but there are others that feel like you're on a giant dual carriageway primarily focused on automobiles. But yes, it's nowhere near the car-centric sprawl of LA, it's just the closest we have.

Point Break is one of my favourite films and i don't agree that there was possibly a gay romance between the characters. Johnny Utah fell in love with the surfing lifestyle not Bodhi the man. I'll remind you that Utah was a high school American football star before a knee injury ruined his dream and he had to settle for being a lawyer and joining the FBI. In surfing and sky diving he reconnected with his adventures soul and he absolutely loved it. It was what he was missing in his boring suit wearing life. I'll also remind you that he tossed that bs FBI badge into the sea and we learn he now surfs every day. kzbin.infoGMN7Eal7NNw?feature=share

I stopped after 1 minute cuz you included 'The Core' with it's emergency L.A. River shuttle landing, which TOTALLY mirrors the "Miracle on the Hudson" landing shown in 'Sully'. An insidiously "Inverted" variant of that story was the Denzel 'No Happy Ending' film ''Flight', a full movie mirror of the Hanks hero flick. Clue: The Commander of the Shuttle in 'The Core' plays a Union rep in 'Flight'...(and Star Trek reboot Cpt. Pike). Also, 'Repo Man' contains a sequence (ball bat/whiplash) in the same tube-lit tunnel where T-800 crashed a cop car after chasing Kyle and Sarah in 'The Terminator'. I'm not yet certain if you've included 'Drive' with Ryan Gosling? During his moment on the L.A. river, a song plays with lyrics kinda sorta mentioning a "a real Hero". Flight 1549 Capt. Sullenberger.
