I think it's a style thing. Winnieb lv wears tiny bags and she doesn't have a tiny frame. However she has tips for making straps longer and i think she wears a tote for like folders and laptop and work stuff

I prefer to chose a bag that fits my body rather than follow a fad. If you are tall or larger sized, tiny bags look silly. If you are tiny or petite, a giant bag will also look ridiculous. I stick to mid sized bags except for evening and the occasional tote for practical use. Then I ignore the trends. I think proportion impacts the attractiveness of a look more than color or style.

After many disappointments with the drop length of straps and not being adjustable this is my number one consideration now. I am 5’2 which makes handles and straps on bags a challenge ~ some bags nearly hang down to my knees (it feels like it anyway) 😂😢 Thanks Sophie for highlighting this!

I do agree, best to try on before you buy unless you already know the style/design works and you're purchasing a different colorway or material. I'm not really the petite or slim type, but I absolutely love my small/mini bags and wallets with chains. Whenever I go out, I only need a card holder, tissues, a key, lip balm, and my phone. Oh, and I attach a hand sanitizer on the outside of my bag. Now, when it starts raining, I actually prefer wearing a raincoat instead of an umbrella. I find that medium and big bags are just too heavy for me and have way too much unused space inside that I end up not using.

I do agree about your height/size and proportions looking off. I’m 5’7” and a US 12/14. I purchased a Hermes Evelyne in the TPM size and it looked ridiculous on me, like I was carrying a toy bag. I ended up returning it and getting the PM size. Not only does it hold more than the bare minimum but it also looks so much better on my frame.

I am 5'11 and when I tried Alma BB my bf started laughing, that bag on me really looked like a tiny child bag, it was ridiculous. For my height I need bags that are at least in the size of Speedy 25, Lady Dior medium or small Peekaboo.

I'm very petite so I always pay attention to the strap length in the description. 20 inches is ideal for me to wear crossbody because I like my bags to sit high. I really prefer medium size bags (around 9"), but these are the least fashionable since they are neither mini nor large. So I make do with mini bags, which look the best on my small frame. Actually, I'm glad to see large bags be on-trend now but again, I have to be careful with proportions.

I have swung back and forth on bag sizes, and I’ve come to the conclusion that medium sized bags usually work best for me. I love the idea of a mini bag, and as a minimalist I’ve gotten by with just my money, ID, and lip products. However, I’ve come to the realization that I can put those same minimal contents into my medium sized bag and still have room for anything I pick up while out and about. Some smaller bags are also much harder to use because you have to fiddle with them while arranging your things in place so they fit.

I think your idea of waiting for at least three weeks before purchasing a handbag or any fashion item that costs a lot of $, is a fabulous idea. When I look at bags, I have to see if they call attention to my stomach, which is always a problem area. As for tiny bags, the problem is that phones are rather large these days. Long gone are the days of the tiny flip phone. No matter the occassion, I have to have a bag that fits my phone, usually my car's key fob, a small bottle of lotion, contact lense rewetting drops, a tissue, debit card, and lip gloss - and frankly, reading glasses.

I have the crossbody chain length issue with a YSL bag. The chain attaches inside the flap, so I started basically “wrapping” the chain to the opposite side of the flap, which makes it a great length for me and I suddenly want to use the bag more.

Wow! I lurve that yellow lemony Coco handle, the colour is just pop n stands out, absolutely stunning! That design of Coco handle was the best without it's top flap stitching around the edge, making the bag puffier n more 3 D. The new ones come with edge stitching which I don't really like on the Coco handle n the bag looks stiffer n less carefree

When it comes to bags I try to stay classic especially because I like to spend a bit on them. I never buy oversized or tiny unless it has a purpose (i.e. small backs for cocktail and large bags for work). I also agree with Sophie that smaller day bags done always look the best on adult women. It kind of looks like something you took from your toddler's closet and put it on.

As a petite woman, I would never buy a mini bag, even if proportionally it suits me, because I know from experience that in a post-flip phone era, the size just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm somebody who needs a medium-ish sized bag to fit all my daily basics, due to needing to carry around two eyeglass cases throughout the year (my daily glasses and prescription sunglasses). The only time I wouldn't do that is on date nights, in which case I think clutches are far better, since they often have bult-in card holders and/or are long and rectangular, so fitting your phone shouldn't be a problem.

I don’t carry a lot in my bags. I would say, the majority of my bags are small/ medium sized satchels. I do have some tiny bags and I love them! Great for errands or going out. I have a few baby Fendi’s and a tiny Moschino bag. All from the early 2000’s and going strong. 😎 I tend to change my bag with my mood or where I’m going so I like a variety of sizes. Now, only my personal preference, but I can’t carry large bags anymore. Too heavy and they look too big with my 5’3 frame. But, they look fabulous on others!

Fashions come and go and at the end of the day, there will always be occasions when you need a big bag and others where a mini is suitable. If you don’t want to end up with an expensive bag that you never reach for, I think it’s more a question of colour. You’ll always have use for a mini in a neutral or metallic colour, but in peach or lilac?…. Not so sure.

I had an LV Pochette st Germain. I’m taller and the bag just looked like a literal wallet on chain. But compared to the Chanel WOC, the Chanel WOC can look like a bag bc of its dept. Yes, strap lengths are very important, whether they're removable or not, or adjustable or not. And of course the size of the bag compared to one's body size and height is important as well. I have also downsized my wallet to a card case and carry just a lipstick ! However, I did make a Huge mistake, when I fell in love with what I thought was a medium bag,😢 bought it, only to find out it did not fit my phone ! 😮 Such an elementary mistake ! 😄😄😄

Yes! Strap length is so important. That's why I don't like rectangular minis and Wocs. Square minis are perfect for me. Straps need to be at least adjustable for versatility. Once in a while, we need bigger bags too for travel, work etc, whether it's in trend or not. But micro bags are definitely out now. I watched a Chinese reseller say the prices for those have plummeted a lot this year.

I think people should not buy bags just because they with big brand name and “affordable”. 2 Fendi bags you shared literally super average, for such bags there is no need to be Fendi and cost even 1500. On the point of the video, you are right, there is a place for small bags, but wardrobe should have variety for different needs and different occasions.

Chanel bags definitely need to be tried on in person because the strap lengths differ so much between all the bags. The mini square is too short on me while the mini rectangular is perfect. The classic woc hangs a little too low on me but the reissue woc is just right. I wouldn’t buy a bag which doesn’t fit my phone so a woc is as small as I’ll go now.

For me it's the total opposite. I'm only 5'3 and smaller bags are flattering on me but bigger bags not so much. I tried bigger bags but always ended up selling them as I realized that I don't go for them as much esp. as I don't carry so much stuff with me anymore since I've been mostly working from home. Another thing to consider...if you are tall or overweight, tiny bags make you look even larger; also, if you're petite in height or skinny, large bags make you look more diminutive. When in doubt, medium bags are the way to go = fits a large phone, normal sized wallet, keys, sunglass case, etc. I own a handful of small bags, but I definitely don't need the tiny ones. I'm average height and a little overweight, so the small bags aren't the best match for me.

Agree that height and proportions are key. I am 5" and I will not be able to pull off the big bag trend. I would look even smaller visually (relative to the bag). I bought a white mini Chanel CoCo handle in 2022, the strap that came with is quite long actually. Perfect for crossbody. Maybe they changed the length of strap at some point? Or, it could be because it's a different size.

It’s crazy to me how people fall for the marketing of luxury brands. It’s my opinion that tiny bags serve the same purpose that oversized clothes do but in reverse. Hear me out: You can almost track bad economic times with oversize clothing - and good economic times with logos and branding. When the economy was horrible and we just started getting all these new cell phones that were mini computers - we no longer needed big bags for laptops because we could do so much in our phone. However, brands weren’t going to offer smaller bags for cheaper. lol the genius of selling bags that fit in the palm of your hand for thousands of dollars and saving on all the material costs to boost sales is unmatched. It’s like how oversized clothes always seem to be popular coming out of bad economic times - yeah - you know what those times bring - excess fabric stock that can’t be used in the future. Best thing to do is tell people all these massive pants are in / huge shoulders are in and then you can get rid of all that fabric waste and sell it as a feature. Fashion really is one of the most clever industries.

makes me wonder why can’t luxury houses make all their bags w long shoulder straps adjustable ?? Like it won’t cost a lot right ??
