Ah, Ben! You ARE cool! 😎 I really appreciated this discussion. You young men and women have tremendous insight. I don't know the man you were discussing, so I can't comment on him, but I enjoyed the perspective from each of your guests. Thank you. (Since finding your channel I have a vague recollection of meeting you - I think it was at Preston Temple or the British Pageant...) 😊

The way Batchlor expressed himself resonated the most with me. He was very logical and I liked that he shared the universality of the obligation and how it should apply equally.

Stick of Joseph: Hayden YOUR WIFE IS RAD!!! I am thankful she was so bold on this show today, spitting 100% truth. My wife is on the same lines as her! I scored and it sounds like you did too.

Batchlor needs to realize that families need someone to work for the family to survive. Given the different natures of men and women, it’s better for the man to work and women to be with children (on average, there will always be outliers). Also, dual incomes are not more valuable than being with your children and raising them but living with less wealth. We can survive and thrive on one-income if we’re humble enough. Of course, there are more options than having to work a full time job away from home for moms these days. Also, you need to take into account the price of child care - it’s almost the same amount as income from full time work.

What’s up Snagret!!?? I just wanted to say I agree 100% with you on all you said here. Sadly though, living even within your means on one income isn’t working for many of us like it was two or three years ago. I haven’t received a 40% raise, but everything I do costs 40% more than it did two or three years ago(the 25% BS we’re hearing from Obiden media is absolutely BS and low balling what is really going on). Rent was $1350 now for same house/apartment it’s $2100-$2500. I’m dumb and didn’t buy in 2020 because I truly felt prices were too high then and with Covid would drop, but now the same house I almost bought that was $285,000 is now $420,000+. Food was $150-$175 a week is now $250-$300+. Car insurance was $200 for me now it’s $300 and increasing AGAIN this month. Gasoline/diesel was $2.29-$2.79 January 2021 and is now in June 2024 $3.79-$4.29 but were and have been as high as $5 for much of the last few years. Clothing, car repairs, school costs, supplies, medicine, doctor visit copays EVERYTHING is skyrocketing. I made comfortable money two to three years ago, I saved monthly, I had fun date nights, fun family money to do little things together that we can’t do now. Something has to give. I for the first time in my life am living paycheck to paycheck NOT putting money into savings, 401k, IRAs, car repair funds, etc. I will be asking for money from my retiring parents and grandparents to live. I’m already working 12 hours a day. I’m not above getting a pizza job nightly to make ends meet but now there’s no time for family, which most irks me. Two incomes is pretty much the only way we are going to survive now. I hate it, but if I’m doing this bad and struggling with my once comfortable single income, how are the young couples doing it, the young families doing, who aren’t independently wealthy, or the rare entrepreneur or creative money maker that’s never going to be a lawyer or a doctor? I’m struggling here. I want to ask…is God listening? I know these are first world problems but… Anyway I’m just ranting. Good to see you commenting here. I think the KC kicker was amazing. Christianity liberated women, I don’t know what the guy in the yellow jacket is saying.

My wife worked a 40 hour per week job all through raising 4 children. It wasn’t for money, it was for her mental health. As for me, I didn’t marry my wife until my mid 50’s (first marriage) as I never wanted to be a father. (She divorced her first husband when the kids were adults). My point is everyone is different in their definition of human fulfillment. As for this Butker speech it was 100% controversial. Myself and my entire family are 100% Catholic. That speech does NOT reflect the majority of Catholic’s. My Catholic women relatives are all balancing careers with motherhood and they all hated his speech.

Respectfully, I think it is dangerous to suggest you can have it all. "No man can serve two masters". I agree more focus should be given to the importance of fatherhood for men. Life is a sacrifical experience. Yes, our world is different. Women used to work alongside their husbands in the fields, for instance. Our current culture is not family friendly. Both in terms of jobs, and in terms of the lifestyle which is marketed to us.

I like your podcasts because you are all young and an inspiration to me. I am 66 and lifelong LDS. When I was a boy/teenager it seemed at every general conference speakers would say women should stay at home and not work. I bet none of you younger people have heard that said nowadays

The Church teaches the general standards of the church, and of God. Ultimately, it is between the husband, wife, and God how best to fulfill your roles as parents. It is the right balance fir each family, with Gods input, as to how to move forward in our roles of fathers and mothers in Zion. Proclamation to the Family ...In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation...
