Probably the most in depth video I've seen on this. I honestly didn't know that you have to use tubeless tires on hookless rim, even if you use an inner tube. 😮 Cheers for that!👍

Thank You!!! This presentation was very informative and is satisfying to watch to a manufacturer's product description based on technical facts, and not the typical marketing spiel.

Ran tubeless on mtb, gravel and road for years so well experienced in all the ins and outs. Finally got fed up with all the faff, mess and expense and gone back to tubes. Happy days. Tubeless makes some sense off-road with wider tyres and less pressure but road tubeless just sucks big time.

Been using schwalbe pro one tubeless for 4-5 years now. I will never touch a tube again in my life. Run a wide road tyre, low pressures with a good sealant. Check regularly or top up every 3-6 months. I use muc off sealant. Never leave the tyre to deflate over an inactive period, your sealant could dry out. Keep it consistently pumped up. Air is free. 15,000km, every puncture has sealed except for one side wall gash. Fuck tubes.

Brilliant. Cheers for your additional tips! You are absolutely right.

same here, over 5 years on tubeless. MTB, Gravel and Road with tubeless, never an issue. Few weekends ago rode 28c good year eagle wth 30 PSI with not a single problem. if that doesn't fail, I don't know what are they doing to make a tubeless fail.

110% for 5 minutes?! That's not a good safety margin. 160% for an hour seems pretty solid though

Our thoughts exactly. This is why we go beyond the ISO-Norm in our tests.

I am searching for "Schwalbe Marathon Almotion (OneStar)" size 35-622 tires, but can't find them anywhere. Or similar tires with low rolling resistance. Do you still sell these or should I buy them from the competition, which are easy to find?
@doubledutch34396 ай бұрын
After hours of googling for information that should be on Schwalbes website I decided to buy Continentals instead, which takes less than a minute.

What about G-ONE allround? Very similar performance.

5:26 It would have useful to see those tubed/tubeless markings close up. Also an explanation of what you mean by 'tubeless rasy' vs 'tubeless ready'?
@RyonBeachner6 ай бұрын
It’s just a painted marking that says “TLE” and another that says “TUBE TYPE”. It’s very easy to see in person when handling the tires. Tubeless Easy (TLE), and Tubeless Ready (TLR), are the same thing. Different brands use different names. However all of them share the term “tubeless”.

Fair point. We will think of that in our next video.

@@SchwalbeBikeTires Every German I know pronounces the 'w' as an English 'v'. He may be accommodating English speakers. (?)

So the bead is Kevlar or Polyamide?
@ericpmoss6 ай бұрын
All their website says is "high modulus aramid". Kevlar stretches without breaking (why it's good for tow cables), but the stretch makes it the wrong thing for hookless rims. There are other fibers (like what BERD uses for their spokes) that can be stretched and then used, but I don't know what Schwalbe actually uses. Carbon fiber doesn't stretch, and can flex enough to be used in belt drives, so it is probably better for beads -- whether that is actually done is something I don't know.
@ericpmoss6 ай бұрын
I just checked, and Maxxis uses carbon fiber for road tubeless tires, kevlar for lower pressure mountain tires (tubeless, tubeless-ready, and tubed).

The Pro One is like a 6 year old tire. Old tech. When is it going to get updated? You guys are getting left behind in the past.

The new one released last year, what are you talking about?
@probikeguy6 ай бұрын
Yes it is. But Hookless is not the same thing.
@SchwalbeBikeTires6 ай бұрын
Very true. The point where the two topics are related is, that you have to run tubeless tires (TLE or TLR) when you ride a hookless rim - even when you have a tube installed.
@robbiek44006 ай бұрын
Yeah but the title of this pretty awesome video is disappointingly trigger bait. Hookless v hooked is the concern here. Not tubeless in general.

No
@stibra1016 ай бұрын
There is no reason to ride tubeless on the road, so messy, dirty and dead feeling. Tubulars still rock.
