Why do you seem to be having a hard time with the LOVE of GOD ?? He first loved us while we were yet sinners, He is Love, for God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son !!! He is absolutely deserving of praise and all glory and Love........

"Your happiness shows off his holiness." (?) Now contrast that statement to the scene of Jesus Christ dying on the cross......... There was complete Holiness in person and without a show of happiness or a happy face. Even the devil himself must smile from time to time in his own form of twisted happiness. More like: Your faithful obedience even if silent or unseen to others shows off His Holiness in Gods own eyes.

Maybe if the statemant had been your happiness is the only thing that shows off his holiness it would be false? Happiness is a way Jesus shines through. Happiness that's not of the world and isn't touched by the troubles of the world. Either eager to be contrary or I misunderstood.

In the context of the sermon, the happiness being spoken of is a happiness found in gloryfing God. Listen to pipers sermons on being sarrowful yet always rejoicing. The happiness he is speaking of isn't a happiness from human pleasures, but rather, a happiness found in the glorification of God regardless of the circumstances. It is a happiness in God alone not a general happiness.

(context of the sermon) "Your happiness (found in doing everything for God and for his glory) shows off his holiness(holiness litteraly means the way in which God is separate or different than us)" so your happiness in God alone declares and shows how different and glorious God is from every other person because you are only happy in God

"Being satisfied in the father makes much of the father." What do you mean by "makes much"?
@MelondyBeauty5 жыл бұрын
Humbly Healing. Try substituting that phrase with praises the Father. I think he’s saying that to be satisfied in him is to show appreciate and awareness that God is truly superior over all things and people. So I would say, to “make much” is to glorify his name and appreciate him.

Humbly Healing, the whole sermon is about nothing else! Immediately after that phrase, John goes on to use a number of synonyms for making much of, or hallowing God's name, and continues throughout the sermon to use phrases which expand on that theme. It's a wonderful theme and a wonderful sermon! We make much of our Father by enjoying, treasuring, and esteeming Him above everything and everyone else! ☺️☺️

So the ultimate question here is why does God want or need glory, especially from humans? Is it a power source for him? From what I can observe in humans, being worshipped almost empowers us. It gives us the confidence we need to believe in ourselves. It enables us to pursue our desires. Is this what God may be seeking though worship? More power?

@@humblyhealing5107 he's the only one deserving of worship. The reason he wants us to worship him is not only because he's the only one worthy, but because that's where he strengthens us, when he shows us his power and how he's in control and working for our good.

And if we take pleasure in the ways of Satan more than God, does that mean we're worshipping Satan? Does that bring glory to satan or empower Satan?
@derekwallacensb5 жыл бұрын
Humbly Healing yes, you are walking and living in sin, which is death. You will become like Lucifer, meaning not having God’s nature which is the Holy Spirit. Satan has no power through Christ.
@evanu65795 жыл бұрын
Derek Lagard Are you speaking of the God of the bible or the god of Calvinism? Because the god of Calvinism manipulates every seed of every being. Therefore following Satan is essentially the same thing as following the god of Calvinism. Take care.
@derekwallacensb5 жыл бұрын
Evan U No, lol, I am not talking about John Calvin’s god which came from the Roman Catholic Church. I am talking about GOD the MOST HIGH. Thanks and you take care as well.

Job was told "that we cannot Understand God and we are Not to Question Him." Let alone in our feeble way try to explain Him. John Piper would be one of Jobs friends God was not happy with.

kathleen Wharton Amen. Job 42: 7 ¶ And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath. JPs view of God through Calvinism is wicked. God bless

So we're born into a life of suffering ultimately because he wants glory? Jesus went on that cross ultimately for the father's glory? I'm not comfortable with that at all. I despise humans who curse children to this world for their pleasure so how can I not despise God for doing the same selfish thing?
@UltraX345 жыл бұрын
Our suffering is the result of us humans actually giving ourselves and our world over to evil on our own. God uses our suffering for his glory and for our good if we love him. We handed it over.

@@UltraX34 When did abused babies (born out of their control) hand themselves over to evil? Are you saying we all chose to be evil before we were born into this satanic world?

I think it would help to understand the difference between God's intrinsic glory and God's ascribed glory. Intrinsic glory is this: the amount of glory God has, the fullness of His holiness and all his attributes. Ascribed glory is this: Colossians 3:17 whenever we do something in the name of the Lord to give thanks to God through Christ. Ascribed glory does not in any way affect the actual intrinsic glory of God, in other words, doing something because God is glorious does not actually make God more glorious it just shows it off. Since God does not change, the purpose in creating the world was only to show off everything he already had. If God gained anything or changed in emotion at any time he either wasn't perfect before or is not perfect now. and since God was totally satisfied before he created the world, God is fully happy and fully satisfied and fully loving of Himself and only Himself. And to love anything else for any other purpose than to show off how great He is or to show off how humble He is, means God was not eternally satisfied before he made the world. It is impossible to believe that God does anything for you that isn't ultimately for Himself or else God would have needed the world to be God before he created the world. God's loving you is mearly a display of His humility and His own love for how great he is by loving you. Everything God does is only to display His gloriousness that He has always had. He does not gain from anything because he always was fully himself.

God isn't uncaring like human beings who discard their children. We messed up our relationship with God and do so everyday, but he extends grace and invited us into relationship with him through Jesus. Don't worry, he'll find you

@@landonsmith348 *"the purpose in creating the world was only to show off everything he already had."* If that was the case, then what is the purpose behind allowing humans to deviate from simply observing his glory? What is the purpose behind allowing humans to inflict pain on to one another? Makes no sense.
