They won’t “default” they will turn on the money printer, and allow hyperinflation to set in. They will force the world to drop the dollar and with it the reserve status. So make sure that you keep a minimum amount of “shit tickets” we refer to as dollars and trade them in for real assets. 😉

They won’t default, they dont have the balls for that, instead they will turn on the printer and issue more depreciating shit tickets. Hyperinflation will do the rest, kill the dollar and its reserve status. So trade in your dollars for real assets.

Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?

The U.S. debt crisis is a topic that stirs up a lot of questions-and for good reason. If the United States were to default on its debt, the impact would be felt globally, not just within America. The U.S. Treasury securities are considered one of the safest assets, so a default would shake confidence in the entire financial system.

In situations like these, it’s important to take measured steps rather than reacting to market rumors. Adjusting your portfolio now can create a more resilient foundation, so you’re less affected by external shocks. Whether through bonds, equities, or cash reserves, strategic allocation can provide some insulation against market volatility.

Our debt load is rapidly growing. The government can either default, pay it back through massive austerity/reduction in annual deficit spending, or inflate it away. I bet it will inflate by printing more US dollars to service it. So buckle up, retirees!

The debt is high because we are trying to run a government that doesn’t tax the rich which simply won’t work. We need to get back to 1960s tax rates so we can start running surpluses again. Certainly we can save on the spending side too but it’s the lack of revenue that’s the biggest part of the problem.

Over 50% of tax filers pay little to no federal income tax, and this number doesn't even account for those who don't file taxes at all. This is the highest percentage in recent history. However, taking away this tax break from most Americans would be extremely challenging politically.

As an investor, I'm concerned about the impact of this debt on the market. it would most likely lead to volatility. To mitigate these risks, I've partnered with a top ranked financial advisor and a hot topic even among financial elitist in lower Manhattan. who has helped me diversify my portfolio and invest in 'real' assets. Our partnership has yielded impressive growth, positioning me to weather economic storms. she helped me rebalance my portfolio for rising interest rates, invest in dividend-paying stocks and REITs, and explore alternative investments like gold and precious metals. This proactive approach has protected my investments, ensuring long-term financial success. I encourage others to consult an expert and create a tailored plan to navigate today's market challenges.

The U.S. economy relies on ongoing credit and debt generation for sustenance. The Federal Reserve is expected to increase the money supply, leading to further debt accumulation for the average American. Meanwhile, foreign nations continue to desire the U.S. dollar, despite their own economies facing significant challenges, some even worse than that of the U.S. This situation raises concerns about who will ultimately bear the consequences of these economic dynamics.

Guy, just to clarify one item. The US has defaulted before. We defaulted in 1971 when Nixon closed the gold window. That was absolutely a default because the US had made a commitment under the Bretton Woods Agreement to make dollars convertible into gold upon request from foreign countries. When too many of them wanted the gold and not the dollars, Nixon bailed on the commitment.

@@Eskeeter03The problem is that at the same time the currency reserve status of the dollar is being challenged by other countries, mainly the BRICS and global south countries. The dollar has gone from being used in over 70% of global trade transactions in value 50 years ago, to less than 50% today--and falling. Countries like China, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Argentina, (largest non European economies) among other countries are already trading things like grains and oil/gasoline in alternative currencies. And even major European economies (that are faltering) like Germany, the UK, and France are not happy with the U.S. with some like France making overtures to the BRICS. That puts the value of U.S. Treasuries at risk. And if countries like China and Japan--the largest foreign holders of U.S. Treasuries aka debt--start selling them off, that will cause inflation in the U.S. We got a preview of this when Japan sold off U.S. Treasuries at a loss a few months ago to stabilize the yen. The U.S. dollar briefly lost value causing a mild spike in moderate inflation. But that was just a few Treasuries compared to the huge amounts they hold. The U.S. can ill afford any crisis right now, even an external one. Its only a matter of time...

Raising the retirement age only works when there are paths for businesses to employ the elderly. There are not. Agisim still exists in business, despite the benefits of the enormous life experience, work ethic, customer-first focus, and patience the elderly offer.

Debt is only all the externalities that are not priced in such as pollution, social impacts and environmental impacts. The more we include such costs, the more the economy is going to flat out near 0% GDP growth. The US can of course kick the can down the road with more debt but this, and natural disasters which is eroding capital at a growing rate will put the US eye to eye with reality. Bitcoin being closely related to energy (the base of everything in the market) will accelerate this transition because of the limit of 21 million limit. As of right now, markets are in for the huge growth potential it offers but get this, the more the adoption, the less interest in the US dollar. Gladly, satoshi found a money that is not infinite the same way natural ressources are. Just worried about the transition and how its going to affect us all as it could be a very bumpy ride.
