There's no innovation, just rehashed content and remakes. What's your point Crajabli, because that isn't a good one. Of course, graphically, things have improved. Games have slowly become a canvas to ponder about since half of the new games mechanics and gameplay are practically missing, all show and no go.

Consumers are partly to blame in this. We are now well informed that pre orders are the greedy AAA gaming company's way to beta test their games & only start to fix it when people complain about it. But many people still preorder. Sure you can get the game ASAP but it will be with game breaking bugs & glitches. Stop supporting ANTI CONSUMER COMPANIES. Back then, game devs had no way of patching their game, since consoles didn't have digital stores yet and didn't have the technology to update physical discs. This made them ENSURE the game had no bugs, or else the player will experience/see that bug forever on their copy. Now, consoles can update physical discs, and digital stores obviously have digital games that can be updated easily, calming down game devs knowing that they can just update the player's copy if a bug is seen, so they tend to release with more bugs. I think that's why older generations of gaming tend to be praised more, since buggy games were more rare during that time compared to newer gens. Compare buggy games with game devs slowly losing passion and just focusing on profit leads us to this "dark age" of gaming.

I sure hope so. If gta 6 ends up being an amazing game, Rockstar will rake in ungodly amounts of cash, like totally incomprehensibly big piles of cash that no other game or movie or any entertainment product has ever dreamed about earning anything even close to that. IF, it ends up being amazing, that is. The chances seem good but we'll only know for sure, when it releases. Other game companies would be totally and utterly retarded to see that happen and then keep releasing almost literal virtual trash, when they could instead invest some time and money to make an actual good game that everyone will want to buy.

What is is the fact that we are in a bubble. Video game industry. It will never crash again like in 1983, but I do foresee the Triple A gaming bubble bursting it'll just be slow and eventually we will see games with lower budgets because the current model is unsustainable. I would argue that we've been in the Dark Ages of the video game industry since about The end of 2018. A few exceptions. I will say that I don't think Micro Transactions are here to stay because it wasn't too long ago we had things like online passes More thing and they fell out of favor. Germany and other parts of Europe micro transactions and loot boxes are illegal. Eventually, gamers will get tired of broken unfinished products heck they're even starting to now. It'll just be a little while before we get to that point. To be honest, I think all of this started with online gaming back in 2003 and the problems have just evolved from there. And saying it was bad in the beginning but it laid the groundwork.

Or even From Software Are not considered Triple A game developers. There's been a market shift away from what the Triple A market wants to do. Quick money. Lol. Release the game in a alpha state, and rake in all the cash while you the player have to wait 3-5 years for the game to fully complete and contain all the content they promised on release, if you're lucky that is. Many companies never finish the game or flounder before completion
@ozt65035 ай бұрын
The problem nowadays is that several companies (Ubisoft, EA, Activision, and others) have realized that regardless of the state in which the game will be released, the important thing is the money from pre-orders, or the people who have been fooled into thinking that such a game would be good because the game's trailer was actually all CGI. Cyberpunk 2077 is a good game, but if CD Projekt Red hadn't promised countless different things and eliminated some bugs, etc., the game wouldn't be as criticized as it was when it was released. AAA games nowadays are like a crapshoot. On the one hand, you have a chance to receive a 10/10 game that will give you countless hours of fun, or you can receive a completely messed up game that runs at 1 fps on a $30,000 PC. Yes, there are games that were made with love and affection like Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, and others, but many others were made to make quick money, and that makes me afraid of how GTA 6 will launch because of some recent decisions that Rockstar has been taking, like the trilogy. But let's pray that Rockstar doesn't ruin everything at the launch of GTA 6.
@CrackedJust1n5 ай бұрын
Thank you for this well written comment, when I ask for a question in the title or at the end of the video this is EXACTLY what I want! :) Regarding your thoughts, I agree that it's a gamble everytime a game is purchased. Starfield for example was advertised as a space game where you can go anywhere and be anything. The marketing was so good but of course they didn't touch on the fact that you had to fast travel everywhere, they also didn't optimize it for PC at ALL on launch. I love Starfield but they totally knew what they were doing with the marketing. I agree with you about Cyberpunk as well that they should have taken more time, if anything they should have just announced it later than friggin 2013... shoulda been 2017 or something. However I don't have any real worries for GTA 6 tbh, it's an inhouse project and from what we've seen in the trailer it looks great! Rockstar never does cinematic trailers, it's always in game scenery. Even the definitive editions didn't lie in the trailer marketing. Thank you for the comment homie :)

It maybe launch with few bugs, maybe it will have a fairly interesting open world and maybe the trailer has been a good show of how good it will look, but considering how they have behaved over the last few years, I doubt it. The devs that made Rockstar what it is today have moved on and they have been riding shark cards for way too long now while completely neglecting cheating in GTA online and player security, all whilst completely killing Red Dead Online because it wasn't as profitable as selling overpriced fake money to children in an 18+ game now filled with flying bikes. The Rockstar that you know and love is dead. It went on to the other side, became part of the corpo machine where creativity dies. I think the most of what you’re saying applies pretty much exclusively to the AAA area of the industry, I think the only AAA title I enjoyed in recent memory was RDR2. Personal favourite of mine from 2023 was Hi-Fi Rush, it was a AA title published by Bethesda and developed by the studio that made The Evil Within and shadow dropped right at the start of the year with zero marketing and was released right as it was announced and was an amazing game. There are so many great indie games too if you’re looking for very clear passion and direction from a development team, too. I think the AAA studios are getting so massive and so much money pumped into it that it’s going to just crash at some point soon, I think R* would be an exception to this though with what people expect from them and how long they spend making sure their projects are ready for release, they’re in a safe spot I think.

And then, how can we forget about the definitive editions? Broken till this day and best of all, they took the originals off sale so you cannot even buy them anymore! Also, what about tons of terrible and pointless updates to both gta 4, gta 5 and online? And what about rockstar still selling cracked versions of their games on steam? Something worth noting ( i havent watched the whole video yet ) but back in ye olden times game developers couldn't just release day 1 patches. In order to release an update for their game, they'd need to distribute brand-new discs which basically meant if their game was broken, their reputation was permanently destroyed because they would not be able to make it up to people. It's possible that big suits are forcing employees to pump the game out because they know people will buy it regardless, then they can just patch it later.

I've played the original gta 3, vice city and san andreas, I still have it to this day. Now, I'm playing the the Definitive Edition and tbh, I'm having a blast. I know that everyone has been saying it's bad and even want everyone to agree that it's bad, but I'm actually having fun and I got no issues with it. I honestly thought that it's great that they updated its look. Wanting it to be better than what it is is understandable, but I think they did fine. I don't consider myself a fanboy of rockstar since I havent played gta 4 (graphics card not enough at that time) and I only recently (2-3 yrs.) been playing their games to completion like rdr2 and gta v. Maybe what I got was better since I bought it this year. Honestly, I do buy games (even before not just now) when they're atleast released for 1 year cuase it's cheaper and I got time to wait since I have life outside of games even if I'm excited as well for that game. My parents played the originals when I was still in single digits and it's no exaggeration that it's my very first memory of seeing a videogame. Even with all the negative criticisms of fans for The Definitive Edition, I'm happy with it for it also allowed me to bond again with my whole family cause when we're playing it, the whole family is watching any of us playing it. Pretty anecdotal I know, but it's my experience so far with it. Now for other games released today, nah I don't play then since it either is online, which I don't play, or I simply don't play games like that since for some weird reason (my family and I) were pretty picky 😅. Anyways, just giving my thoughts about the definitve edition of the first 3d games of rockstar and If you read all of it, thanks it means a lot. Even if my opinions sucks, well atleast I'm happy cause realistically I know not everyone will like want I like every single time, vice versa. If 2023 wasn’t one of best years for gaming in around a decade, I would agree that the dark age is already here. But BG3, Cyberpunk 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, Jedi Survivor, SpiderMan 2, and Zelda LOKR are only about half of all the good ones we got this year. The real dark ages will come with the effects of laying off talented devs that DO care about what they’re making, despite critical and commercial success on projects they contributed to. If making and launching a SUCCESSFUL game isn’t enough to secure your job as a dev in a AAA studio, why would anyone want to with in one at all? For example, the studios that laid a significant amount of people off this year have all been very successfully recently or semi-recently: CDPR, EA, Hasbro, (owns company that made GOTY BG3!!) Ubisoft, Epic Games, Microsoft, Bungie, Naughty Dog, Amazon, Activision-Blizzard, Unity, and whoever else I’m missing. These guys have had had financially successful, highly acclaimed releases in the last few years and either cannot, or will not, keep the talent that made those successes. Plus with all the crunch that companies have been forcing on these guys the past few years, not many people want to work anywhere where their weekly workload could double at any given time, for an unforeseen amount of time, before being laid off after launch. Especially if that overtime money gets taxed into oblivion like it can be in many countries or states. A C++ dev might really have a passion for making games, but will find much more stability working for a bank or hospital or mobile game studio or pretty much anywhere else where the work is not project-and-deadline based. And the industry loses a passionate dev in this case because there are hardly any incentives for them to work in AAA gaming besides the facts that they would be working on video games. Not to forget the screeching pissboys that happen to make up a lot of gamers too these days: the kind that go after the devs when a game launches poorly. Screaming at the code monkeys, DMing them on socials lambasting them for their work while the suits are the ones that chose when and how a game gets released has always baffled me, but people still love to do it for some reason. I personally would fucking hate to be a dev, get stuck crunching 80+ hrs a week, be forced to drop an actual bad game, just to go home and have all my DMs and emails spammed by angry virgins, plenty of whom probably don’t even have a drivers license, telling me I suck, my work sucks, that I need to kill myself, etc. It happens a lot, and it happens to developers who have NO SAY IN HOW MUCH DEV TIME THEIR PROJECT GETS BEFORE RELEASE. But there’s always some streamer or youtuber getting paid to rile people up over this shit and send them after the devs, instead of the suits that actually made those decisions. Constructive criticism or flat-out anger at a bad game are totally fine. But taking it out on someone that didn’t get to make those choices is just plain fucking stupid, useless, and helps nothing, yet it happens all the time and its seriously the gayest shit you could do, yet continues to happen. And finally, the leaks: not just of the games in progress, or trailers (both of which really do suck for devs when leaked). But those same leaks also usually include the developers’ employee info like banking info, contact info, their address, SSN, greatly exposing them to even more abuse from worthless entitled nerds who have too much time on their hands. Again, who the hell would ever want to make AAA games in the next 5-10 years if all these scenarios are commonplace among the SUCCESSFUL studios?? Anyone with the experience, talent, or skill to make a AAA game would have better and safer job options. So we’ll see fewer devs with the ability or incentive to create the complex AAA games that need that expertise, as the complexity, size, and scale of these games will continue to increase. Companies will promise big, expansive sequels to but will lose or stop attracting the talent with the ability to not only make the game, but make it great. THIS is what will really bring on the dark ages of gaming. Right now, the only people I see complaining that gaming sucks lately are the ones that only buy 2k and COD every year and play pretty much nothing else.

We are definitely in the dark ages, especially when it comes to first person shooters or third person shooters (irrespective of if they're linear or open world). GTA 6 is still at least 1.5 years away. The new Call of Duty was TRASH. Open world games are TRASH look at the Saints Row reboot or Watch Dogs Legion Just Cause 4 Far Cry 6 all terrible games. At this point if you want to play GTA just go outside, this world has gone so crazy and dystopian we might as well be living in the satirized world that games like GTA 5 were portraying.

I think we are in a weird phase where games are trying to be bigger than ever, but are trying to keep costs down at levels seen prior. They are essentially doubling their project size with the same amount of people working on them. So a lot of things are getting missed or aren't getting fully realized by the time release comes around. Hence buggy launches missing features and lots of games being early access

Hey Man Great Video, and at 0:46 you did mention about the 14 years, for that Old Game Called Duke Nukem Forever, well just know that Once Gta 6 comes out it would also be 14 years, but that means if it does get Delayed, which it might because of the Hackers Lately. So yeah maybe it will come out in 2027. But I Really Hope Not, and maybe you can do a video, of Why Gta 6 has take at least 10 years to make? Thanks.
@CrackedJust1n5 ай бұрын
I'd love to make a video about GTA 6s development time and why it took so long, a long development time like 14 years isn't necessarily a bad thing but in the case of Duke Nukem forever, it was ported over multiple different game engines over the course of 14 years making it a really messy project when it came to the programming of it all. Thank you for the comment! :)

The reason for this is just because of the sheer cost of development. Think about it, games are being built for years at a time by massive studios. Not only do you need to pay for every single developer’s wages throughout that time (which is the highest percentage of a total video game’s cost and compared to other software companies, devs get paid peanuts) you also have to pay for their PC and upgrade it every year. You also have to pay for a ton of licenses for software like Autodesk tools and Adobe suite which cost absolutely insane amounts if you want top of the line looking assets. Then you have to spend a lot on marketing and actually getting interest. Then you also have to either develop your own or use a physics engine, which can take a lot if you want custom physics. Not to mention that games get increasingly longer to make every generation due to the naturally higher expectations with a new generation of games so now all of these costs are even higher because you’re in development for longer. The only one of these that I could possibly see changing is companies switching to free software when it catches up. Blender will soon catch up to industry standard tools that are paid, unreal and unity are free, so needing to build your own engine is going to be less and less of a thing unless you’re one of the top AAA companies who’ve already spent decades building their own engines. Honestly if we’re accounting for inflation, games should be like £150 at this point, but they’re not, so micro transactions are the only way companies can offset the absolutely massive costs of development in a relatively risk free way, provided it’s implemented right. Do I think the market will crash? Maybe. The current situation is just too unsustainable in the long run. But I don’t think video games are going anywhere

I don't usually comment on videos as i guess you could call me a lurk watcher on KZbin. But i absolutely agree with everything you said, im glad we're realizing we are in a BAD reccesion in the gaming industry when it comes to just a lack of Talent. There is no excuse why people who are running these game companies, who have never played or made a video game in their life should be in control of new releases right now. Hollywood is in a bad state with a similar problem, but movies and TV have a very good chance to get out of their problems. Gaming isn't so easy, because its a culture that unfortunately we still haven't been able to convince law makers its a serious hobby. So predatory transaction practices, unaffordable new game prices for the average consumer, ship and fix later mindset, and just pure incompetence in hiring people who are lacking the fwo most important things in making a video game: Passion, and a Vision
@CrackedJust1n5 ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting, I'm happy you did considering you don't often as you stated :) totally agree though, but on the up side. With game companies relying on these greedy business practices, once a company like Rockstar or FromSoftware releases a finished passionate project, the other companies will HAVE to limit their practices because their competition will be setting way too good of an image to keep up with.
