Are We MOVING TO POLAND AFTER BREXIT??

It's scary to think that we might be moving to Poland after Brexit. On the one hand we love Poland and think we could have a great life there, but we also love it here in the UK, particularly our home London!
I imagine you could be one of us, thinking about moving to your home country or any other country after Brexit given the fact that the UK and the European Union haven't been able to reach a deal that'll work for everyone.
In this episode we are trying to open a forum of discussion between possibly moving to Warsaw or staying in London, but deeper than that is about the things that make you feel at home. What can you live with and what can you live without.

@@VigosDad Warsaw has a feeling of optimism, despite its depressing past. Everywhere is being fixed up. Neighbourhoods are re-emerging rather than everyone moving to the far edges of the city. There are great restaurants and great nightlife. The people are friendly.

Mieszkałam w UK 6 lat podjełam decyzje że wracam moje życie osobiste się zmieniło i chciałam żeby moja córka mogła mieć bliższy kontakt z dziadkami bo zostajac dużo bym pracowała. Finasowo zdawałam sobie sprawe że sytuacja będzie nie porównywalna ale przewaga nad powrotem do Polski była rodzina. W Polsce nikt ci nie powie że masz wracać do swojego kraju a w UK to bardzo częste zjawisko. Może wasze tam urodzone dzieci z brytyjskim akcentem już nie będą miały tego problemu. Widać to po próbach pani Agi gdzie próbuje być taka brytyjska że aż słowa Bydgoszcz nie potrafi poprawnie wypowiedzieć bo jeszcze ktoś rozpozna akcent i pokaże palcem drogę do domu. Niewygodny to jest temat.

To trudny temat z obu stron. Nam sie to w Londynie nie przytrafilo (poza jednym nacpanym gosciem, ktory nie wiedzial gdzie gora gdzie dol haha, wiec mysle, ze nie byl reprezentatywny dla tego spoleczenstwa, ktore jednak jest w ogromnej czesci imigranckie). A Pani Aga to mysle, ze za szybko przeskoczyla z jezyka na jezyk po prostu! Pozdrawiam 😊

Kiedy na codzień mówi się i myśli w jednym języku, często przestawiając się na drugi trzeba mocno się skupić i wymowa może się pomieszać. A i przed kamera na pewno nie było łatwo ;)

Zastanawiam sie, czy mowisz plynnie w drugim jezyku? Bo jestem pewna, ze pani Agnieszka nie zrobila tego specjalnie. Bo widzisz, jak mowi sie naturalnie w innym jezyku, to mowi sie ze specyficzna wymowa i melodia. I w trakcie zdania np anglojezycznego trudno jest sie wyrwac z tego rytmu i zrobic wyrwe, na jedno slowo w innym jezhku, by brzmialo w 100% jak powinno. To nie jest hejt, po prostu pomyslalam, ze moze warto o tym wspomniec, bo to przytrafia sie wielu osobom (oczywiscie, pominawszy udawaczy). Pozdrawiam.

Bilet miesięczny 90zł, kwartalny 230, gwoli ścisłości ;) w Warszawie faktycznie jest bardzo bezpiecznie, na całe życie od dziecka i wielokrotne krzątanie się po nocy po różnych miejscach (a jestem z Pragi, więc miejsca owianego niby złą renomą) nigdy w życiu nie miałem niebezpiecznej sytuacji, mimo, że do różnych spięć dochodziło. Z tym knajpkami wegańskimi lub produktami to się już bardzo zmieniło i dalej postępuje, to modne i jest na każdym kroku, nawet w Carrefour'ze Express czy Biedronce jest cała ściana Vegan zazwyczaj. Pozdrawiam :)

Great video guys, but I think you forgot about one important factor. Family & friends. These human interactions is what make your life worth living unless you are not extremely introvert. For me living in Poland is worth loosing some of the things I can buy in exchange for things I can't buy like friendship from the childhood or spending time with family. However, some people don't have or don't want to be so close to the family. This whole question is very individual and depend on particular person character. There is no simple answer that is best for anyone.

Such a big topic for the video!! From what I know of both cities, besides lifestyle, I think there are not much big differences between London and Warsaw. Both are big cities and the problems of each country do not reflect so much in the main cities. Good luck and greetings from Mexico!

A, jeszcze co do Taty i Małego. Przepraszam, ale nie wyglądacie w żadnym stopniu egzotycznie. Mając w rodzinie parę mieszaną z wujkiem z północnej Afryki (jest od 25 lat w Polsce) nigdy nie miał nieprzyjemnej sytuacji przy czym nie ma typowo tamtejszej urody, ma trochę jaśniejszą skórę itd, więc sądzę, że większość ludzi się nawet nie orientuję. Podejrzewam, że podobnie by było z Wami, co najwyżej by ktoś pomyślał, że Tata z Półwyspu Iberyjskiego ;) Pozdrawiam jeszcze raz, jesteście świetni ;)

The quality of life is very good in Poland. More nature. You can spend more time with family and not work 24/7 to live in a small flat that’s overpriced.

I know this is an old video. I like the videos where Karolina is part of the discussion. Sometimes she's just making cookies... I think the variety of various ethnic food must have gotten better. When I was watching James he was going to lots of places with lots of different foods from different countries. Of course that was in Warsaw. Might not be the same in smaller cities or in the countryside. I remember in the '80s having Chinese food in Pennsylvania. It was terrible. In Pennsylvania's defense, it was the Poconos.

Very informative video btw 🤔 i like your way of thinking. If ure interested in other perspective, the job that ure aiming at may be other factor, i heard from friends from abroad (Netherlands for example) that if they could get a better job without a degree in Poland they would love to move, but life becomes a struggle if ure payed even like 2times minimum wage and u have a child, mortgage. but if ure an educated specialist(not a doctor lol) i think there will be a place for you in Warsaw in particular (dont even hesitate if ure earning in euros or pounds on the net)on the other hand some of my family live in Georgia US, they would love to come back, that's not even the question, the struggle for them is just as real, and i imagine it would be hard paying theyr dept in zloty. Łukasz, bardzo dziękuję for your comment. It is true, we have heard the same, for example people in IT have a ton of offers in Poland and can make a very good living. I guess it really depends on what your field is. Maybe I should make this channel a full time thing and travel across Poland making videos! I wonder how long it will take me to starve, or will I end up in Mam Talent! :D

@@VigosDad yes, IT specialists and programers are top players, but so are some enterpreneurs with a good idea. If itll get You a clear picture, im a logistic hub worker, my wife is a children psychologist, we are both young(26) and determined and we even manage to save some money. (Sometimes haha)We can afford a decent flat in Warsaw suburban area, we drive 15yr old toyota and i personaly wouldnt change it for anything else. Starving is really not an option, the question is only how often would you get to go on vacation to greece or whatever. Good idea about the channel im sure there is lot to unravel. Best regards!

I am not planning to go anywhere . I live in Wales nearly 12 years and Don't imagine to take my Portuguese husband to Poland. More possible I will move to Portugal. Another great subject 👌🏽 Your comparisons spot on, not much more I could add. Definitely the question of moving is different for Polish couples and mixed couples, kids who would probably never feel totally included being from mixed parents and spouses who will surely be met with unwelcome remarks or looks at some point. Politics and religious influence i won’t even start on. People, couples who only cake to the UK to earn money to potentially build a house and have a good start in Poland will definitely be returning now, they have already started. Luckily I never had this issue, I came here to work for few months long time ago and after a week I decided, that I found my home 😊 We Londoners should appreciate how lucky we are being able to experience any culture, cuisine, language, but also access to cultural and social events, entertainment, education, history, volunteering opportunities and I could keep writing with no end. Cost of living is horrendous, but I still cannot imagine living anywhere else and feeling fully accepted and at home anywhere else. Ps loving the bedsheets 🤩

But I do wonder and worry more with time, that when she will be a teenager and have stronger features and kind of without protection of mummy and daddy she may be a victim of hate... :/ I would never be able to live in Poland, even in large city - despite the closet being Bydgoszcz with the great ice cream 🤪

you have half a year to start learning polish :D it largely depends on which city you're moving to. If it's a big city like Warsaw Krakow Łódź Poznan Wrocław Gdansk etc. you'll be ok with English. If it's a smaller city it might be a bit harder, but not impossible. Your attitude plays a larger role than the language.

It's lovely to hear you guys have a good grasp on the matter, it really shows! Even though every other European city might feel small and less global compared to London, it doesn't change the fact that Poland really is changing and it's getting more visible each year. Obviously, Warsaw offers the most "western" opportunities and the smaller the city the more closed-minded people are (i know that's harsh, but unfortunately not far from the truth). But from what I observed, the current generation of polish teens are miles more "westernized". I know Poland is incredibly ethnically homogenous, but I feel like it wouldn't be a catalyzation for some xenophobic reactions. I'd go as far as to say polish kids are now a bit starved for some diversity they see everywhere on the internet and in movies but not on the streets. My cousin goes to class with the only black girl in the school and I tell you, she's everything but ridiculed for being different! It's like as if racism took a 180 turn and made people of different ethnicity more interesting and everyone wants to be friends with them hahah

we are not ! between my - polish and my partner - moroccan, we find too many extreme ends between our cultures to move to one or another... and sadly one of the common factors is growing right wingness in both countries, so no. Mentally and politically PL is not accessible to me any more. You cannot un-learn what you have learnt here :D So maybe we can go somewhere warmer, in EU and in the middle - Sicily, Corsica, Malta? Or South France? Let's trade Lnd at least for amazing food and sun ! (and Schengen :D) But so far enjoying it here in Lnd. Interesting channel, fun to watch. I hope you will keep it coming. As for staying or going back, We are definitely staying. For a few reasons. First , practical. I have Irish partner and she doesn't speak any Polish. If she wanted to have proper career in Poland she would have to spend years mastering Polish up to a decent level. Not an easy thing to do if you are in late 40s. Then there are all the subjective and emotional reasons. London is a beast which you either love or hate. We both definitely love London. We couldn't live anywhere else in the UK, nor in too many other places for that matter. Maybe in NYC or Paris (if I spoke French, sadly I only know a few phrases). Sometimes when I'm in a bad mood, or feel a bit down, I catch train to central London and just walk through some busy areas. It usually gives me kick of positive energy. Then there are all the friends. In 15 years (actually more for my partner) we developed wide network of good friends, from various nationalities or even continents. We really don't think like leaving it behind, even if we both hate the idea of Brexit. And here we come back to practicalities. London will probably be place which will come up OK after dust settles. Ironically it will be some of the Brexit voting areas which will suffer the most (for example the North East). It also helps that we both have British citizenship which might help to avoid some of the issues which might arise in the future. Whatever you decide make sure you sort out all the paperwork, ideally get citizenship if you qualify, even if you don't feel you need it now. As Windrush scandal shows, you should never trust British immigration officials. Besides, more people like you with citizenship means more people who can vote right politicians in.

Politics - speech freedom - Poland 2nd place in the world just after the US. Poland has long tradition of freedom, with roots in the noble tradition (while in the rest of Europe there were 1-2% nobility, then in Poland about 10%)! Moreover, Poland created the first "Nihil Novi" constitution in the world, then the second after the US, but in the "Enlightenment" period, being actually "Blackouts" period (eg anti-French revolution etc.).

It's good to know your country's history but don't live in the past. Switch on the news and see what the present government is doing in Poland. More and more people are coming out onto the streets and protest! A lot of different groups have been going on strikes - doctors, parents of special needs children, teachers and now women. There are lots of angry people in Poland and they have a good reason to be. One sick politician wants to dictate how people should live and behave. You compare the USA to Poland. At least they got rid of an idiot president and chose perhaps a better one. The president here is a weak puppet doll of a little angry man who destroys Poland bit by bit!

Chciałbym dopowiedzieć jedna rzecz Polska była od zarania dziejów najbardziej tolerancyjna, otwarta i multikulturowa w całej Europie. Długo przed pierwszymi koloniami brytyjskimi, który jest powodem multikulturowości w UK... nigdy homoseksualizm nie był karany (w Polsce jako jedynym kraju w Europie), traktowano kobiety na równi z mężczyznami co było abstrakcją na zachodzie :)) Ale tragiczna historia i komunistyczna propaganda zmieniła ten obraz niestety, na szczęście w głębi serca Polaków jest nadal ten duch wolności. Dzięki temu np Koleżance z filmiku tak to imponuje :) Trzeba wziąć tez pod uwagę takie sytuacje jak rzeź wołyńska, mordy innych narodowości na Polakach w ciągu II wojny światowej, które mieszkały razem z nami.. to tak jakby dzisiaj Hindusi, Polacy, Azjaci chwycili za noże i zabijali Anglików we własnych domach mordując całe rodziny - za standard ich życia i napełnieni chorymi ideologiami... On ma rację! Wielu ludzi żyje historią i szuka sprawiedliwości za to co spotkało naszych dziadków lata temu. Zbyt wiele wycierpieliśmy. Okrucieństwo które nam zgotowano wypaczyło nas. Nie mieliśmy okazji tak naprawdę się odpłacić, pomścić. To wszystko stało się tak niedawno że rany są jeszcze świeże. Ale Wasza rodzina byłaby w 100 % bezpieczna, zwłaszcza w Warszawie. Polska to bardzo bezpieczny kraj, zwłaszcza gdy zna się parę słów po polsku! Pozdrawiam!

@@mahu5766 mółj facet jest z peru, po zmroku w Polsce nie wyszłabym z nim w małym miasteczku na ulice a w duzym tylko ze znajomymi. Historie o tolerancji ładnie wyglądają, ale ksenofobia jest w Polakach juz dłuższy czas. CZas tolerancji i otwartości na inne kultury tez już dawno się skończył. Cytując klasyka "Polska dla Polaków dla przekrętów i bydlaków" I możemy dalej rozczulac się nad historią, jednak są narody ktore przeszły dużo wiecej... i które wciąż przechodzą przez piekło... żadna wymówka.

Not sure why anyone would leave because of brexit? They aren’t going to throw you in jail! I have worked in many countries outside the Eu like Canada and Dubai and I have never once had any issues

Some people leave because they dont feel welcome or because they are afraid the regulations will change in a way that will favour citizens, or make it harder to travel back and forth, visit family, some have businesses depending on the freedom of movement and such. Many are worried about the UK economy suffering and it affecting employment, standard of living, housing prices. Some just want to be closer to family in uncertain times (Brexit, Pandemic and all that jazz). Cheers!

Why would you say that you would be worried about the safety of your mixed race child in Poland? I mean, Poland is a lot more diverse now, especially in such big city as Warsaw. You never heard about polish kids being bullied in the Uk? I keep hearing about cases like that all the time. What about the example you gave about being afraid of polish lads leaving a pub, like there’s no drunks in London ? The fact that you’re comparing the danger between potentially getting beat up by some drunk idiots and potential terrorist attack which you seem to be okay with, Im honestly lost for words..

well everyone can interpret things differently. If you think we have a preference for London then I can't change your mind. We really believe there are great things in both places. Our comments on the safety of our child are based on experience and others in similar situation living in Poland, and if you did watch the the video we did mention that there are Eastern European kids being bullied in the schools here in the UK. Finally regarding safety, once again, we did conclude that it's safer in Poland, and my experience in Poland and the polish drunk guys in the bars, as I said in the video was a case of me not knowing how to read Polish people body language when I visited at the very beginning. I invite you to watch the video again and notice that a lot of the things you mentioned in my humble opinion you misunderstood. Cheers.

@@VigosDad well, of course there a great things in both countries. You don’t need to change my mind, it doesn’t matter to me wether you prefer London over Warsaw. All I’m saying is that was all I was hearing in your video. I agree with some of your points, but overall I think you weren’t really all that fair. You did say Warsaw was a lot more safer, which is an obvious fact, yet you made it look as completely opposite with your narrative and examples. I believe that body language of anyone that is under influence it’s rather unclear, no matter in which country you’re in. Yes, poles do often come across as angry when looking at others, and believe me you don’t need to be a foreigner to experience that, but it’s only the impression you get. You’ll learnt that with time if you spend more time in Poland. It’d be nice if you explain little things like that to your viewers who may not know nothing about it, but I’m guessing you don’t know that much about Poland yourself after all. I do believe that we like more things in London, but the things we like in Poland carry a very heavy and practical weight (housing, family). Everyone has a preference it’s normal! Tbh most of the Poles we spoke to, prefer to stay in the UK. Cheers!

This is not a news channel or a documentary based channel where it's important to stay 100% impartial. It's lifestyle-vlog channel so obviously my narrative will be slightly biased, sometimes in favor of something, sometimes in favor of others given the fact that it's based on my experiences, whether they are on mixed relationship, international family, parenting, or multi-culturality with a focus on Poland or Dominica Republic, or the UK. I think that I know about Poland what I've managed to learn through my years being married into a Polish family and having many Polish friends and visiting Poland endless times, but to be honest, I don't think I know Dominicans that well even and I am one. Ok, as someone that's lived in the UK, Latin America, and is of Polish heritage . . . here's my answer. You never discussed living in the DR or elsewhere within the EU (Espana, por ejemplo). Just another idea though. Brexit is the tragic result of xenophobic attitudes outside of London but does reflect a sentiment within the rest of the UK. A sovereign country has the right to protect its borders, so Brexit was decided upon by the people. Border Force can't seem to stop all the Africans arriving across the Channel daily, but that's another topic. Poland is an amazing country, but the politics of the country are complete shit. PiS is taking the country in the complete wrong direction. Attempting to establish "LGBT-free" zones within a country inside the EU goes against international law and basic human rights. It's a shame that the Catholic Church is complicit in this action as well. The Church needs to stand up for marginalized groups, but that is not happening in Poland at all. But Poland does offer a much better cost of living compared to the UK. And the people a much nicer in Poland. Brits can be a bit standoffish at times. I think if you stay in the UK, London isn't the kind of place you want to raise a child. Maybe somewhere else outside London (Essex, Kent maybe). But I live in New York and I'm utterly confused why anyone would raise a child in a major city. Kids need space to run around, trees to climb, and places to go explore. Major cities don't offer any of these things. I think it's tantamount to child abuse (to a certain extent) to raise a child in an urban environment that doesn't provide them with access to those kinds of things. Just a few thoughts. Hey my man, thank you for your comment! Big cities have their ups and downs, London as N.Y. has a lot of areas that really don't feel like Downtown NY or downtown London (is there such a thing?). We have lived in many countries between the two of us and we have narrowed it down to these two cities. I lived in Spain for 4 years it's a lovely place. All the places have pros and cons that's for sure.
