Having washing machine in the kitchen is really crazy. In Poland we have it normally in the bathroom, because this is a place, where you wash yourself, and it's intuitive to keep dirty clothes there and then put them into the washing machine. Moreover the washing machine is sometimes a bit laud and it's easier to close the bathroom because the kitchen is usually open. What is the reason to have washing machine in the kitchen? Maybe not enough space in the bathroom and this is the only reason why in some (but rarely) houses in Poland the washing machine stays in the kitchen but I cannot see other reasons ;).

The reason they keep their washing machines in the kitchen are the electricity safety regulations. Their bathrooms are too small so the washing machine would stand too close to the shower. I recommend the Ruch Oporu KZbin channel - its host is a Polish electrician from Kent living there for 30 years. He explains a lot about British technologies.

"Rosół" is just a rich chicken broth. Some people do add pieces of chicken meat into the bowl with noodles and pour the broth over it, but usually the boiled meat is used to prepare a separate dish. You can take the boiled meat and some of the broth and use it as a base for the gravy. That way you get a two-course meal in one cooking process - a broth with noodles as a first course and meat with gravy and potatoes or rice as a second course. Not to mention that you can also use the vegetables (carrots, parsley root, celery), add a few ingredients and you have a perfect "sałatka jarzynowa" - vegetable salad. It tastes better if you use vegetables that were cooking in the broth than if they were simply boiled in water. So trust us, it all makes sense :)

My first note is about washing machine, it's simple, really: kitchen is for food, bathroom is about body, intimacy, clothes, and being wet, so washing machine fits there. And in Poland we have one tap melting the water, not two separate for cold and hot one (which is crazy). About food, Rob you should try more Polish soups, they all are delicious, as well as Tatar (raw beff with raw yellow) and Kaszanka. I would also love to see you cooking your favourite English dish :)

No one will convince me that the English washed their clothes in the kitchen sink. This is absurd. Laundry - bathroom - logic - tradition and history, that's all.

Let's be honest - different accents from around Poland feel like they sound the same, when you compare it to different accents from around the UK. It's more like comparing Polish with other slavic languages, that's how differently UK accents sound. Silesian, Pomeranian, Tatra mountain accents are just a piece of cake, you won't hear the difference unless you are native fluent in Polish

It's true that the UK is not famous for its best cuisine. To put it bluntly - there are no English dishes that I'm crazy about. But there are many acceptable ones. For example, a Sunday roast (as long as it's not lamb). To be honest, I don't eat ready meals these days, I cook almost every day. You can use the available products to prepare a dish that you are used to, and if necessary, there are many Polish stores in the UK. Even superstores here have Polish branch with kiełbasa, pierogi, kiszone ogórki, an so on :)

If you like Wrocław, you should also visit the entire Lower Silesia because 25% of all Polish historical sites are here. There are about 1,000 castles, palaces, manors and fortresses here. You should visit the Książ, Moszna, Czocha castles, the abbey in Lubiąż, churches of Peace in Świdnica and Jawor, baroque basilica in Krzeszów, prince's tower in Siedlęcin with Arthurian frescoes, Srebrna Góra fortress, Underground City Osówka- part of the Riese complex and my hometown - Lwówek Śląski :)

Sad thing about dialects in Poland, they were widely spoken in rural areas still in the end XX century, but they were mocked by townies as uneducated, not correct, language opposite to oficial Polish seen as the posh one, everyone wants to be posh, so nowadays there are only few groups really proud of their original language, Silesian, Kashubian and partially higlanders from Zakopane sorroundings.

I am living in London 8 years now, so it's quite hard to enjoy traditional English kitchen, but, I love cheddar! Affordable precious. I even invented joke, French bloke and English dude drinking in the pub and arguing which country is better, French shoots: we got 10 000 kinds of cheese, English: yeah, but we got cheddar. French dude with sad face: true. (I hope you can get it despite my butchered English).

Polish construction is solid, I'm delighted. In London, a friend of mine lives in a block of flats on the 11th floor and has no central heating. In the 1990s, they often found a washing machine in the bathroom. Nowadays, it depends on the size of the house, either you have a laundry room or one built in the kitchen. For me, it doesn't matter that People don't go to wash the rivers.😁

Kane, if you like Zakopane, but prefer a place with fewer people, go to Bieszczady Mountains (Lesko, Ustrzyki Dolne and Górne, and the wonderful Solina with its huge flood lake also named Solina) and Lubelszczyzna (southern-east part of Poland)- Zamość is a charming city, and is very "quiet and peaceful". You totally can add the chicken meat into the rosół ;) It's not that uncommon.

Łazienkę się zamyka i nie słychać jak pralka pracuje, kiedyś były pralki "Frania" i wygodniej było prac w łazience i płukać pranie w wannie. Poza tym wracając z pracy np budowlaniec czy inny robotnik wchodził myć się po pracy i ubranie od razu do pralki bo wygodnie nie ma bałaganu. Podobnie z wieszanie prania było w zimie gdy nie było suszarek automatycznych Kaloryfer w małym pomieszczeniu rozkręcony na noc na max załatwiał sprawę, nie było wirowek ani suszarek kiedyś to wieszanie prania nad wanną też wygodne bo woda wściekała do wanny. Poza tym jeżeli robisz pranie a masz aneks kuchenny i ktoś cie odwiedza a pranie się kończy to musisz wyjąć ubrania i bieliznę przy kimś obcym a w łazience nikt nic nie widzi😊nie przynosisz też do kuchni śmierdzących po pracy skarpetek 😂

Go to Cieszyn Silesia region of Poland they have different words for things, different accent, stress and different endings every 10 km. It is because of the mountains, which seperated people in the past. Go to Wisla, Cieszyn, Kamesznica, Trojwieś.

The chicken is left in the pot to later be deboned, the breast and thigh meat mixed with rice, pineapple, salt, pepper, curry powder, and mayonnaise or Greek yogurt, and the rest of the meat mixed with gelatin mixed in some of the pure broth with green peas. Four meals from one soup, as you also use the carrot, parsley root, and celery root used for the broth in a boiled vegetable salad(adding green peas, brine pickles(kiszone), onion, potatoes, and the usual mayo, salt, and pepper). Its all about efficiency. One use of the stove gets you two days worth of food. Gotta remember that we were a very poor people for quite a while, first under the partitions, then under Soviet rule. Not every place even had gas or electric stoves. Most village households still used wood stoves up until the 1990s. Many still do.

Rob, I think the location of the washing machine depends mainly on how much space we have as people. because if someone has a small bathroom, as in England, it is better to place it, for example, in the kitchen. In Poland, many apartments are small, so it is more convenient to put a washing machine in the bathroom and have more space for cabinets in the kitchen. but this is not the rule. It's easier to set something up when you live in your own home. I live in the countryside and we have a washing machine in the laundry room. I dry my laundry traditionally on lines because I have a large house, so there is also more space for drying laundry. from early spring to late autumn I dry my laundry outside because I love the natural smell of sun-dried laundry.

One of the differences between Poland and England is that England has actually only 2 seasons: Spring and Autumn ;) Also, Poles usually shower before going to bed, English - after. Other advantages of having a washing machine in the bathroom are: it is quieter, the washing machine is the loudest source of unwanted noise, and Usually, you change and store your dirty clothes in the bathroom, not in the kitchen, so it is closest to the source and destination (dryer ) of your clothes. You wash your body in the bathroom, why not to wash your clothes?

Hey, the city choice is real hard. There are many good cities to choose. But Wrocław is quite good and have hidden gemes. ❤

If we have to travel 500-700 kilometers by car, bus or train, we forget about the other end of the country. Then we naturally choose the city of KRAKOW. KRAKOW is great and you won't get bored. Many charts show that the air quality is terrible, but if you look at Google Maps, other neighborhoods have houses and forests very close that clean the air. Krakow has such a terrain, it's not flat, we don't have to live in a block of flats if we can afford it. From Krakow you can even see or go to the mountains. The border of the Czech Republic and Slovakia without a passport, without borders and close to Zakopane, so you can spend New Year's Eve, Christmas and holidays.

Hi Rob. There's some British food I like however when it is done from a scratch. Eg. wellington (home made dough), FRESH herbs I use: rosemary, tarragon, thyme, freshly ground black pepper, I add garlic, onion, paprika powder, bay leaves, allspice.. Second: shepherd's pie, then: sunday roast? aww well.. to not get bland root veg I season them too.. too me eating boiled or steamed carrots, parsnip, brusselsprout ..very bland.. since all the flavour is left either in water or is steamed away.. I do cook so-called English or Scottish breakfast but.. I cook beans myself, add chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, cumin powder in order to get a richer food (cumin by the way helps digestion and prevents you from farting). scrumbled eggs must contain at least fried onions. Fish and chips is the thing my mom makes once in a while however it is exclusively a pan fried version (breaded or different coating is used-flaxseed, sesame, cornflakes, pumpkin sunflower mix). Each time fresh grease is used, chips that I hate are only cooked in an air fryer, fresh raw salad with it-eg. coleslaw style-no mayo!- sunflower oil or olive oil, grated cabbage (usually red), grated onion or leek, 1 sour apple, carrots, salt, pepper, a bit of either soured cream or greek yoghurt- fresh chopped dill or parsley can be added to it. What is interesting -it reminds me when I had lost 4 stone in 6 months- low GI products. replacing breadcrumbs or batter with seeds, eating potato wedges with skins, raw salad..I did not excersise- I was loosing 10 pounds or so every 30 days..no calorie restrictions..

When I was living in the flat that I've rented with my pal, we also had a washing machine in the kitchen, simply because there was not enough room in the bathroom, where it usually is in Poland.

I do not agree that all Poles sound the same, because of the partitions our way of pronouncing words, using words and forming sentences differs. It may not be as different as in your country, but there are differences. Foreigners are just unable to hear the difference in Polish 😄

When i saw the dog i shed tears. 2 months ago, a dog from my family home who was 16 years old and had been with us for 15 years died😢To this day i still can't come to terms with the fact that he's gone. I miss him terribly. I would like to see him and hug. He was sick for a very long time and we did everything we could to keep him with us but we lost. He was a member of our family.

You have to take care very much and enjoy every moment and appreciate every moment. Sometimes, when my dog was still healthy, i thought about it, but i suppressed these thoughts and enjoyed the moment. I can't forget him. He brought himself a bowl when he was hungry, carried sticks, recognized the sound of the household's cars and knew when the household members were returning, and he did not react to other cars. He loved riding in the car with us. When i was younger, i used to put him on my lap in the winter and he would go sledding with me and he was big and heavy. He cracked walnuts and ate the nuts. Two years ago he suffered from kindney - high urea. We went to the clinic for drips. He go out of it. Last year, after several ultrasounds, the clinic diagnosed spleen cancer at 4 cm. At the clinic, we learned about Neoplasmoxan preparation. We promised our dog that we would fight for him and not let him go. The cost of treatment with this preparation would be PLN 1000 per month and we were not sure of the effectiveness of the treatment. The composition of this preparation was nowhere to be found on the Internet, so we bought one package and on the back there was the composition - only 4 ingradients. So we found the same purest preparations of Yango resveratrol from Japanese knotweed 390mg, Yango quercetin from Japanese pearlwort 250mg, selenium + natural vitamin e from Yango. Additionally, we ordered online preparations from India, Kanchanar Guggulu. He was also given other preparations like Paw Paw Nature Sunshine of course according to weight. After 4 months of such treatment and several ultrasound examinations, it turned out that the tumor had shrunk by as much as 3 cm. In general, all these preparations are for humans, but they can be given to dogs too. Due to a kindey problem, he could not eat a lot of protein, mainly meat , which is why he became anemic. He got iron tablets from the clinic. Additionally, i learned that dogs can eat bananas, raspberries, strawberries, wild strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, red peppers(not spicy), and nettle juice. We were shocked at how much he loves these fruits. We wish he had received them earlier. I made him nettle juice from fresh nettles in slow juicer. Nettle juice cures deep anemia, and many other things, but it also has many contraindications, e.g. pregnancy, thrombosis. We got him out of anemia. But suddenly there was water in his lungs. The only solution is drainage of the pleura, but the heart is too weak.. he was on oxygen for several hours, given antibiotics, injections, tablets to remove water from the body so-called loop diuretics. We were about to go to Kraków, to the newly opened university clinic for small animals with the most modern equipment, but his condition improved. Unfortunately, only for a few hours...and he died😢i have his photo among the photos on FB. I am now making a photo book with an online creator from his photos and will print it out in his memory. Dogs, animals in general, are angels on Earth.

Hey Rob. I live in London. Even though I do find English food a bit bland, I still do like it :) i love all sorts of pies, Sunday roast, nice thick soups. They're not that spicy, sour or sweet, but I find those dishes great for cold days, hangover or when I haven't eaten much throughout the whole day, so I can fill my belly in evening with some nice meal :)

My favourite British dish is roster carrots, parsnips, potatoes and roasted lamb shoulde with gravy(beef red wine and onion), prepared by myself or my wife. I'm not a big fan of the meals served in pubs. I don't like British bread, sausages, ham, mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard; I do not like Yorkshire pudding, mince pies, or pies in general. The significant advantage is access to Indian cusins, which I like. However, in the UK, I'm missing Polish-Vietnamese takeaways.

About rosół it served like it was said in some houses and usualy in restaurants. But in my famyly, and many others you will get clear soup, and then sepret bowls with chicken, carrots, parsnip and short macaroni, so everybody can get what they want is theirs soup. Im also a "heretic" becouse i prefer potatos instead of macaroni, this is not so common 😅

I like Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding, gravy and vegetables or roast lamb with mint sauce 🙂 I also like fish and chips with mash and peas. It's hard to buy in good quality. I live in Chester. There's only one place here with good fish and chips. I have many other products and dishes that I like in the UK. These are; - shepherd's pie - sausages, but only fresh ones and from a good butcher - Cheddar and Stilton cheeses etc.
