My first game has lots of AI art in it. None of my customers cared. I have 2 negative reviews and they don't complain about the art. The only people who got mad at me about using AI gen art were other game devs who weren't going to buy the game anyways. I think it's a very vocal minority of people who are anti-AI art and it's not even because they think it looks bad, they're just mad that it exists. If I were to make an estimate, I would say 95% of the people who saw my game and told me their thoughts, did not care about the AI art. Only 5% or less were angry.

Were you able to publish the game on Steam with AI art? I wanted to use AI to create character sprites as I'm more of a coder than an artist, but I read that Steam won't publish any games that use AI assets in any form.

Soon there will be so much game art made with gen AI that the market will be completely flooded with it. Players will demand a way to filter it out so they can find the "good stuff". Something to consider.

In a certain way you can always see on the games' descriptions if it used or not UI. A filter, I believe will be there, pretty soon. For real, all the AI thing I believe is too much, at the end what matter is if the game is good or not to play and you can have both with or without AI.

About the video, yes that's a good option, we are just worried because we don't want to be a channel to say: "do this", "do that"...So it's hard on how we are going to cover this topic. We are starting to work on a new project, maybe when we start to get the number on it, we can compare....ideas are coming....Once again, thank you!

I'd definitely like to hear more on your use of AI. I wanted to use AI to make sprites but I read Steam won't publish games with AI assets. Did you have a different experience?

We will definitely make a video about AI in games. About it on Steam, they allow to publish games with AI, but you need to disclosure how it was used in the game's page. We did that on ours, and will do it on the next ones if needed. Thanks for the comment.

LOL Marketing is a tough task which, clearly, we don't master. Another point is that the game style doesn't help on that as well, 3D games, super realistic are way easier to show up.

For an indie dev i think using ai isn’t that problematic, its already hard and i am sure they spent more money to make the game than their earnings, at least until now, the problem is when big companies with the budget to hire the right people,offer jobs for who needs it uses ai

No, but you need to specify in your page configuration and that info will be in the game's page, as it is in ours.

How did you get featured in Steam Next Fest? Also how early did you know when this would be to allow you to get ready for being featured there?

Steam Next is a public event for whoever has a page published and will have a demo available at the Next Fest's period. They happen 3 times a year, Feb, Jun, and Oct, if I'm not wrong. But you need to be careful to sign up for it. A game will only be allowed to participate once. There are some really good videos about it out there. Try to watch the ones from Chris Zukowski. It's hard isn't it? lol We were doing it as side project, but yes that's the reality for most games on Steam, actually. But, we have a plan and we are sticking to it....we are going to execute the next phase. Realistically, your goal can't be just 1 game if you're planning to live out from games.

Nice! No, our game has nothing with the book series, just a coincidence. Tomorrow, probably, we will be releasing a major update to the game. Including few new features, bug fixes, the new Arena Mode and full support to Japanese.

Imagine if someone made an *almost* identical copy of your game, then they just modified a few aspects of it and sold it for money. Thats what generative AI art is. I hope you'll use real artists in the future.

That's your opinion and I don't really agree with that. About the copy part, it's something that happen with or without AI, by the way all 2d art and sprites were made by us, the illustrations were AI. And paying an artist to do the illustrations will be an option when we will be able tompaybfor it.
