Moving to Sicily isnt necessarily the solution to anything. He wants to take on a major new project and that's healthy. But in truth, with an infant and with such a recent serious risk to life, it could be a little too soon. There's no right answer but he admits to hyperactivity and his nature is taking on many projects at once. This is sometimes the engine of poor decision making too.

If anyone deserved to realize their dream it is both of you. You have always grabbed life by its tail and lived it to the fullest. You are an inspiration to us. Sara, I totally understand the pressures that you are under. My husband had a stroke in June 2022 which compromised his peripheral vision a little but he recovered. At 85 years, he was still doing all of his work himself like outside landscaping, fixing the cars, plumbing, electrical, etc. He had to slow down but didn't want to hire anyone so I took over some of his chores both in the house and outside. He had another stroke three weeks ago and the doctors encouraged him to take a blood thinner, BP med and cholesterol med to help reduce the chance of another stroke. He never wanted to take meds and always relied on homeopathic vitamins and supplements. So now I manage his meds and watch him carefully. The morning of his last stroke, he woke up and couldn't make his words. I was panic stricken. Now every morning I wake up and pray that this won't happen again. It is always in the back of my mind. But as you have always said, life is for living so we have to hold our heads up high and go on. Luca, I feel your emotions and know how difficult this life has been for you lately. But you have Sara and beautiful Luce to light up your life, so continue to be brave.

At 85 we're already surpassed the general life expectancy, we may not be ready to check out just yet but we're designed to move on and we're not in control. But Luca is in his thirties! That's a whole different scenario to process. But he should be able to taper off those drugs and get back into active adventurous life as he once knew it. Well, not if left up to big pharma and their bought medical industrial complex but only once he decides that since life is nothing but a series of taking chances, he'll prefer to take his chances with diet, activity, proper sleep, purpose, and enjoyment over the medications. The brave adventurous path...

Planning another solo trip to realize my Italian dream in October but is northern Italy a mistake? Should I also choose a hotter climate like Sicily? I love the central location and the mountains of the north but I also worry it will be too cold in winter. The heat in coastal Spain didn’t bother me at all and I love the Mediterranean flora so much.

As someone who has experienced (and still experiencing) traumatic health issues, I totally understand where you are coming from. Thank you for entrusting us with your thoughts on all of this. It is a great gift you have given we, your followers. Real strength is not pretending everything is OK when it is not. Real strength, as both of you continue to display, is being honest with yourself about the challenges you face. If anything, you become even more loved with your honesty and openness about what has been going on behind the scenes. Know that what you are experiencing is completely normal and many of us have gone through, are going through, or will go through, this kind of trauma. You are right to identify it, embrace it but then...keep moving ahead. I find it hard to believe that anyone would judge you in a harsh way for this but then some people are not mature enough or have not experienced enough in life to understand your decision and the reasons behind it. Life IS short. Go for it. Sara, I so totally understand when you talk about not feeling the same in your home where Lucca had his stroke. And also, the desire to build something that is ALL of you from day one. I wish you the strength and persistence to persevere in following your dreams wherever they take you. You owe NO ONE any explanation. Live your dreams. No matter how challenging,you will never regret it and as Lucca has so wonderfully stated, what is our life if we are not creating something for ourselves and those we love? I hope all goes well in acquiring the new property. Be sure to allow yourselves the ups/downs that will follow. Lucca, you are still YOU even when you don't feel like it anymore. Medications can create more issues even when they are helping on other levels. The feeling of not having control over your body and never knowing what might happen again, I am living through that myself with an illness that has yet to be diagnosed so no one can say when it will flare up or how to prevent it. It can paralyze you with fear if you let it. But you are facing your fears and that is how you move through them. I so respect you for sharing all of this with us. It can give you a new, positive perspective on life, & what is truly important. Although I wake up in pain every morning, I’m grateful to wake up. I’ve been given the gift of another day on this earth. None of us knows how many days we have left, so we need to appreciate each one, & try to make our dreams come true, if we’re able. Luca, I had a heart attack at 46 and part of the twelve weeks of therapy were some sessions on depression as I was told that it is important to know that people go through that after near death experiences. It takes time to come to terms how close one came to death, and you’re right, you feel like a different person now. I promise you that with time, your life will go back to being mostly “normal”, but you will never stop being appreciative every day for coming through the experience. I certainly understand that you and Sara need time to heal from this. . . and you will. ❤️

Big hugs to you both. As someone who always had adventure in her soul, but didn’t allow herself to follow her dreams… (until now, in my early 60’s) I stand behind you 100%. Life is too short and too beautiful to give in or give up. Luca, you are alive! You must stay that way, any way you can. My son was about Luce's age when we moved into a large shared house where we lived upstairs with a long flight of stairs to maneuver. He spontaneously began to slide on his tummy, slowly at first, down the stairs when it was time to go downstairs for any walk or adventure outside the house. It became his game and he giggled all the way down. His brother began to do the same following little brother's lead. As she becomes more steady on her feet she may find this an easy and safe way to come down the stairs with her precious smile lighting her way. I'm so glad that you're not going to sell your self-sufficient homestead in the mountains, although I applaud whatever choices and decisions you make, because it is clear they are well thought-out and follow your passions. What a blessed family you are to experience the best of both worlds - seaside and mountains. Be gentle with yourself, Luca. As someone with cardiac and mobility issues which just recently began for me, I relate to your journey very much. I strive to view it as a new adventure and learning experience, even when it's hard. My husband suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2009. I understand the upheaval and yes, returning to the home where the trauma happened. Where your health is right now is a plateau. It’s a temporary pause in healing and common at about this time frame. Healing will continue! You may have other plateaus along your healing path. Have faith that as you continue towards your personal goals, your healing will keep pace. This new project will hopefully keep your spirits up (both of you) and give you a healthy focus mentally and physically - which will only HELP progress your healing. Don’t worry about time. Everyone heals differently, and honestly, you are doing really well at only 8 months out. Live life, love each other, enjoy your baby. ❤❤

He is very lucky to be alive. And that he was not permanently paralyzed or blinded. This is where gratitude comes in. The glass is half full, not half empty. The lesson is to be grateful for what he DOES HAVE. I also think an important lesson is that rather than depending on external goals to feel alive, there are ways to feel more alive by accomplishing breakthroughs within the inner self. Things like deep relaxation, breathing exercises, guided meditations, affirmations, prayer, study of topics related to the inner self, the soul. Learn to sing, to paint, expand creatively. And enjoy nature, and his family of course. Gratitude is key. Things could have gone much, much worse. He could have been trapped in a wheelchair the rest of his life, and blinded. Much to be thankful for. He can see, he can hear, he can speak, he can walk, he can feed himself, bathe himself, dress himself, he can drive, he can swim, he can cook, he can dance, he can love his woman, he can hold his child.

The two of you are so incredibly strong. Thank you for sharing what you’ve been going through. Luca, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting someone else to do jobs that you can’t do anymore. It’s better than you trying to do something and ending up injured.It actually takes a lot of strength to be able to ask for help. Think of the great example you’re setting for your daughter. She will grow up knowing she can always ask for help if she needs it and not feel ashamed or embarrassed. You all went through an emotionally huge life changing event. I have no doubt that there is PTSD as a result of the strokes. Even if Lucia doesn’t “remember” it her mind will. You are so smart to be getting another place to live to start fresh. Incredibly brave and honest of you two that you are able to say just how things have really been for you. PTSD following what happened to you is very hard but you have recognised it and its symptoms and the effect it has had on your lives. Sarah, I was a caretaker for my daughter when she has cancer and though she is a survivor, I still get bouts of depression and I do have PTSD from it. It was extremely difficult for you, Sara, as a caregiver and a recent mother. I too had a stroke eight years ago and as both of you said it's a totally new game. I personally, still have equilibrium challenges. The big difference is that I was 60 years old at the time. You both, will learn to accept that life is lived one day at a time. You, Luca acknowledged this and that's really important. Your project in Sicily is magical. I'm glad that you both are being realistic about getting the help you need to bring it to fruition. What I know is that the most important requirement for healing is your mind set. And nothing helps more than following your passion and dreams. My husband had one heart attack in the past two years and although he’s better we are dealing with the after effects, as are you. My brother had three strokes as well but he still suffers from dépression as he also had an active live before. Luce is such a happy child ,one can't help smiling when seeing her. Sarah, I have PTSD due to a situation surrounding my father’s death at the end of 2020 and to this day, I still have nightmares, anxiety, and depression. I can completely understand you in that way. Dear Luca and Sara--I totally support you in your decision to take a break from Lucky Land and live in Sicily. You all have been through quite a traumatic experience, so that Lucky Land is tainted. Hopefully over time this trauma's association with Lucky Land will fade and you will once again feel safe living there. If not, you now have your Sicilian property with a healing sea view, tropical plants, and beautiful little Luce to grow and play and enjoy. As you said, everything is temporary and we are only borrowing the things that we have on this Earth. What's permanent is the love and interconnection we have with one another. It is cathartic to let them out, Luca, and you showed the anxiety you live with daily and the fear of having this horrible episode happen again. I know exactly how you are feeling, and like you, I dislike the medicine we must take to help us. But we do it, because the alternative is not acceptable. I totally understand your circumstance.. in 2006 my mother had a massive stroke in my house.. she was 78 living with me and my husband.. she only lived 2 weeks.. I could not live in our house anymore.. we had to sell the house and build a new one.. very difficult time, but be encouraged that time heals traumatic experiences.. stay strong and safe.. bendiciones siempre 🙏🙏💜

I have tears streaming down my face knowing exactly what your going through. I have the same health issue as Luca & had 2 strokes (there aren’t many of us out there). I can remember the feelings I had when this happened to you all in October, my heart was with you knowing the road you had ahead. With loads of therapies I now look just as I did before, but I am not the person I was. It took me 3 years to realise I will never be that person again. I am proud of you both for realising this reality & still fighting to follow your dreams whilst figuring out what life will be for you. Please know that you having bad times doesn’t mean a bad life. I am proud of you both in being able to recognise what’s happening as a family and fighting to follow your dreams to a better life after having your lives changed so dramatically. Asking for help & taking time out aren’t signs of weakness. Sending my love & positivity to you all xx
