Are Weather Pro RV Awning Motors Obsolete? Nope!

I just want to let you know I replaced a Weatherpro motor with a Dometic 9100 yesterday. After watching this video I figured I'd give it a shot. Instead of $600 I spent $250 for a new 9100. Swapped as you showed here and it works like a charm. Thank you very much.

@@jerrydegan1601 It was over a year ago but as I remember, I just ordered the least expensive NEW one I could find at the time. Like the man said, I changed the mounting bracket and the collar, put it in and it worked. I looked on Ebay and the guy I bought from didn't have anymore. This is the description of the one I bought.....Dometic Power Patio 9100 RV Camper Replacement Awning Motor 3314590.005. Did a search for that number but none came up. I bet any 9100 will work. I paid $250 for mine but it was sure better than the $600 for a Weatherpro. It's still working like a champ over a year later. Mine came black too and I had to change the end cap as well to my old white one. Lots of 6116's it seems out there in the 200 area. Just order one that is returnable. Good luck. I had a wind incident that broke and snapped the little casting arm like the black one you had I’m assuming it’s a 9100, I could not find that replacement bracket anywhere the motor itself is fine but the bracket was broke. So I was able to order a replacement one on Amazon for around $200 and it works fine but now I have a good motor with a cast aluminum bracket that’s broken in half and I’m not able to locate that bracket to replace it so that I’d have a spare motor. Any chance you have those brackets in stock?

i have a weather pro, so am i to understand a 9100 motor will work with a weather pro cast housing by puttiing the collet from the weather pro onto the arm of the 9100 and then use the weather pro arm casting

You'll need to swap the L bracket that sits in the awning arm and the collar under it. You'll need to cut the wires to run them through the Weatherpro bracket and reconnect them. I used butt connectors. Make sure when you go to pin the collar on the 9100 motor, that the wires are separated inside the motor shank. You don't want to pinch them when you're pushing the pin through the collar. I did this job yesterday on a 2006 19' awning and it works like a charm.

Steve. Do you have a video of the process of replacing a weather pro motor with a 9100 motor? I have on 2003 19’ power awning. Is it normal for the awning to pause during the retracting phase? Mine goes in about half way and then stops. I have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can retract it all the way. And some days it takes many times of that process to get it all the way retracted. I assume it’s the motor but am I missing something?

@@abenenati6327 NO I don't have a video of the motor replacement. I just changed it alone and it's not that hard of a job. As far as what your motor is doing, mine was doing the same thing as it was rolling in slowly and sometimes would stop and I'd have wait a minute or 2 before it would start again. Then one day it stopped halfway up and would not restart.

Hey there, I know I am late to the party here, but I followed your instructions, and all is going well. The only thing is when you said drill out the rivet from the old unit to take the sleeve off the end of the old motor to go on the new motor, I did that. I found that I did not get a new. If for reference it was the pin that was giving a tad bit of trouble. Is that pin a certain size and where might I get it?

I am not following your question. The individual parts for the motors/drive are not available that I know of.

I have a 9100 that I need some small parts for the actual electric motor. Is the motor serviceable and if so were could parts be sourced. Or are there any not operating motors available that you know of ??

There aren't any parts available for the motors. You might be able to find some, but essentially they are throw away's. Thanks Eric

@@TheSmartRVer thank’s for the quick reply. I have been chasing my tail on this. Trying to not spend $400 for a motor when all I need is the 2 long bolts and an end cap that hold the assembly together. LOL. Thanks again !!!

I have a weather pro 21' awning. Which 9100 motor do I purchase? I noticed several different model numbers. Do the different model numbers just denote color? Do you sell the 9100 motors? Thanks

The numbers are the same other than the letter at the very denoting the color.

Just watched your weather pro vs 9100 awning motor exchange. Good information. Question. Is there a calibration or limit stop that needs to be done when replacing?

There isn't any calibration that needs to be done when replacing the motor. You will need to make sure the fabric is aligned to the center of the roller tube and that it rolls up straight but, that is all to do with the fabric alignment. Thanks Eric

We have a 2007 Dometic motor. We have the motor sitting out and it has 3 notches on the end of the cylinder. Does the new 9100 fit the configuration?

The message I received states that you have a Weather Pro motor and you are replacing it with a 9100 motor (see bottom)? I am not sure if this is the information you are looking for: All Dometic WP and 9100 awning tubes are the same, the motor will easily fit in another Dometic awning tube, the arms are the problem unless you have done some modifications to the motor bracket to work with the WP awning arms. The WP and 9100 are not direct replacements for each other. I hope that makes sense? Original Message: We have a 2007 Weather Pro motor.
