I got a Scat Pack widebody: I think it's one of the best looking and handling cars I've ever driven. Compared to the RT I had before with 275s, the 305s and the better suspension have me making corners at speeds that would not be possible on 275s.

Never having a wide body to compare with... my r/t on 245 fronts and 275 rears is the most amazing handling car I've ever driven. Was that your assessment before your scat pack wide body? I've had dynamic suspension on an off road machine and it was amazing. Same thing on the road I imagine where your amazed at the difference?

I absolutely love the look of the widebody, and everything with it. It's just hard for me to justify the 6k on it. That's $120 bucks more a month for fender flares, bigger brakes, and bigger tires and some suspension adjustment. So as much as I want the wide body, I end up getting the narrow and saving the money. But if it's in your budget hell yeah I say go for it. The narrow body comes with a new tire purchase right out the gate, but still less than 6k and it does have the classic lines. I swore I would get a wide body next time, but dealers are charging 5-10k over for the widebody and I got my narrow body for MSRP.

@@augustdrums1247 Don't forget those WB have a lower top end speed due to aerodynamics (if that's important to you and consume more fuel) but supposedly will outperform a HC on a roadcourse. Also you will definitely NEED PPF, rock guards like ZL-1, on all 4 wheel wells because those wide tires kick up debris, rocks, gravel etc. So you end up with a scratch up paint job and that might bother alot of people who are anal about keeping that finish nice. It will just cost more $$$ for the PPF as well when it times comes time to replace those 305 wide tires and brakes.

I got a widebody scatpack 6 speed manual and I love it. It brings me too much attention but I love it. The widebodys stand out because there aren't many on the road.

Actually, you can get the adaptive suspension on the regular body, and drag mode suspension on the regular body 1320. The wide body Charger definitely looks better. The bolt on flare on the front of the Challenger cuts into the body line on the front fender. The Charger doesn’t have this body line, and the look flows better. I wouldn’t kick any of them out of the garage though. You look more natural surrounded by Mopars. It’s like putting on that favorite pair of comfortable shoes. It just fits.

Yep worth it for the 392! No regrets, you end up with the best of both worlds… great suspension tuning & braking power to match the 6.4 power plant! If you are in doubt just do it and live a little bit!

I'm not a fan of the wide body look on the challenger. I like how it looks without it more. But the charger is the opposite for me; I love the widebody look on the charger but am not a fan of the standard look.

Awesome comparison video RacerX! Ever since I saw the Demon in the widebody with that airgrabber hood I loved the look. I was glad Dodge made it available for an add on package on the scat pack. It’s really cool we can choose to customize these cars from factory like this. Back when I purchased my scat I was lucky enough to apply dodge power dollars right before the program ended. I’ve owned a narrow body already and I definitely prefer the widebody.

The WB package also contains a shift light, 4 piston rear Brembo brakes to go with the 6 piston front Brembo brakes, larger sway bars, the Bilstein suspension that is adjustable with the drive modes, and the requisite exhaust valving with each mode. it's definitely not just a "wheel, tire, and FRONT brake" package.

It's a $6,000 option with the Adaptive Suspension and 305 wider tires. When it comes to replacing those tires and Brembo brakes I can only imagine how much the cost will be to replace those brakes?🤑

I always liked the Challengers since they came out again in 2008 and always thought about buying one but just never quite pulled the trigger.... that is till the widebody's came out and I fell head over heels at the look with the flares and 305 tires. I couldn't be happier with my 2020 scatpack widebody. The widebody's break necks wherever they're seen that's a fact.

Great video comparison and looking at the issue from a different perspective: the narrow body requires the Dynamics Package for obtaining the preferable 270/45 tire wheel set up and larger front brakes which runs $2,395 and the adaptive suspension costs an additional $995 so we have a $3,390 total. Given this fact, the wide body runs only $2,610 extra and you get the 305 wider tires. Or, you can go with the 1320 narrow body for $3,995 and you get the preferred 275/40 wheel and tire set up with adaptive suspension (I took this route). Or, you can go the narrow body TA route for $3,995 which includes the 275/40 wheel setup and add the adaptive suspension for $995 and you also get cold air induction. And, you can add the dynamics package for reduced price for the larger front brakes. So various options exist. I did not know any of this at one time and originally purchased a narrow body SP and the car had the 245 tires. I kept the car about one year and then traded for the 1320. (I should have been watching Racer X videos and I would have known more about these features before I purchased my first challenger).

I Highly Highly recommend for the 6-speed shifter on the challenger (I have had 2) swapping it out for a Barton shifter. on my black hellcat I swapped the shifter to a Barton and the handle to a Hurst pistol grip. The Barton made an 80% better shift and the handle with the carbon fiber inserts made the whole interior look bad ass old school cool. I wish I kept that car, damn. Why the Hurst, well it was the way the old school name on both sides of the chrome handle looked...

I have to say that the road manners of my 2022 Challenger Scat WB M6 have been very impressive for such a large car. Also, according to Dodge the Scat WB suspension was re-engineered for the 392 cars to take advantage of the car's lighter front end and better weight distribution. So it is a different set up than simply bolting a Hellcat's WB kit underneath.

I just went thru the driver in window at a bank with my new Charger Scat Pack with the narrow body. The car is big and you have to watch the clearance with the narrow body. I can't imagine the wide body.

Widebody is definitely the way to go. My preference would be a Charger Redeye which only comes in a widebody. Excellent video as always X. 👍

Yes, i think the 6k is worth it on the Scat Pack wide body. I am presently driving the narrow body 2019 Dodge charger scat pack but i am really eyeing the wide body because i will like to get the adaptive cruise control, adaptive suspension and the bremo 6 piston breaks option. In all, Dodge is really doing a great job with the way it delivers with in comes to power, style and class.

By the time you add your performance options for the narrow body you are approaching the price of the narrow body , and the wide body comes already with 305's and rims. Awesome video, Racer X! The F8 Green wide body car has a 1970s grill, and the Maroon non-wide body has the 1971 grill. For me, both are great! I'd take either! However, I personally would lean to the wide body more so. Better brakes, bigger tires… it all translates to something a bit more suitable for a 6.4.

Depends on the tires you run, I have a 2018 scat with the Bilstien High-Performance Suspension and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A\S 4s in 275/40. Around corners I get no understeer or oversteer at any speed! From a roll I get virtually no tire spin, the only way I can break them loose is from a dead stop with my 6-Speed Manual. I decided to dodge literally the wide body on the Challenger and decided to upgrade the bigger brakes on the Challenger narrow body by adding the dynamics package which I preferred and I was still able to keep the overall price of the car cheaper than a wide body. I highly recommend getting the dynamics package.

The RacerX I've come to know and love, is a drag racer. In an almost 11 minute video, you never even came close to talking about the weight difference between the cars. The WB is noticeable heaver and the wheels will make the WB a slug compared to the non WB in drag race I think it's 2-3th slower. Triple

Nope, not true. The top end is effected slightly [5 mph] , but the quarter mile, slalom, and 70-0 tines are much better due to increased tire footprint on the ground. I do get what you're saying about the increased rotational mass, which is somewhat higher. But, we're not talking VW Bettles here and the difference in rotational mass is way overcome by the traction difference that allows you to launch the car so much harder and with much less wheel spin. Spinnin' ain't winnin'-- unless it's a burnout contest.

Wide body has lower top end speed, with worse gas mileage but is faster on road course than a regular HC. Is widebody better as a daily driver on city roads and freeway? Or is scat with "DYNAMIC OPTION" with 275 tires better for all around driving. No track usage.

I drive a 21 WB charger. I think 6k is well worth it, when he factor in the rim and tire package, the brake system upgrades, etc. If you bought a narrow body and upgrade separately it would be well over 6k. Just my thought.

I'm also torn between a manual or automatic. I've always been a manual guy, but at the power level is a manual a good idea. My concerns are whether the manual will break loose at higher speed shifting, and will I be sacrificing some performance with an automatic..?

What I do not like about the Challenger lineup is regardless of the trim line ranging from the SXT all the way up to the super stock trim line you get the same style and size exhaust finishers I would think at least for the amount of money that you’re paying for a challenger superstock they would provide you with round or oval or larger exhaust finishers but they are the same size Regardless at least for the 392 dodge charger you get larger round exhaust tips

Racer X, I'm interested in the Challenger Hellcat. I have no preference, really, between the looks of the widebody and the regular width Challenger. However, I am interested in whether the widebody would keep the car more linier when the tires cut loose..? Especially at higher speeds. Would that be the case? I Agee that the widebody looks better on the Charger. The Challenger widebody doesn't flare into the body like the Charger. But I still like it, but I wouldn't trade my regular body Shaker just to get a widebody.

Love this video. It is exactly what I wanted to see. I feel the same about the widebody. Price should not be as high on the hellcats. I have a question about tires. Because I live in cold and snow climate dodge puts all season tires on the cars. I did order the summer tires, but for some reason my hellcat will have all season tires. My question is will the all season tires be a problem?

Yes all seasons are absolutely the best for normal driving but the absolute worst for putting any sort of power down.. give and take I suppose

I did contact my salesman and he told me they did put that in when the order got placed and came back just recently with all seasons. I appreciate your answer. You are the best!

While I REALLY like the look of the wide body, I just COULD NOT justify another $6k so I got a ‘21 narrow in Frostbite. Full transparency, I don’t beat the hell out of my car so I don’t care if the tires give up at 100+ miles an hours because I never drive my car that way and the 245s do what I herd them to do.

I have a '19 Charger Scat with Dynamics package, I swapped the HC1 wheels my car came with for HC2 reps and have 275s up front and 315s in the rear. The main reason I dont like the WB is loss of driving lights. I like the look. I know its minimal light output, AND that there are kits and mods for them. Other than that, I dont mind the look of the WB charger. The challenger, I dont like the side marker running thru the flare. There are WB kits that make the ass about 8" wider, I DO like that, simply because its more unique.

i love the widebody and really dont wanna get one without it. but the negative isnt just the 6k difference, its the fact that theyre rarer, so the price stays up on the used ones on top of being hard to find. i might look into how much it would be to buy the fender flares and wheels on their own and have a body shop install it. maybe then it makes sense cuz right now i can barely widebodies available for reasonable prices

I think the wide body options are better. My only gripe is that the car industry is really inflated right now. These dealers want a crazy amount of money for base model cars. Just saw a 2020 hellcat near me with 7k miles, no alcantara, leather or suede, no drive assist package, 275’s all the way around for $75k plus taxes. They’re out of their minds.

You have to consider that MOPAR is making no more V-8's after 2023. Get 'em while you can! I just picked up a new Charger Scat Pack and had to pay full sticker. A closer dealer to me had a $1,000 over sticker mark up. It's simply a sellers' market between the V-8's going away and the supply chain shortage.

It depends really, if you want the advanced dampening, bigger breaks, wider wheels the cost difference is negligible at that point. So get wide body!

I had the fender flares on my 2008 Mustang. Wasn't wowed then so my 2017 SRT392 is perfect. I'd rather put the dough towards leather, Nav & audio.

Hey RacerX. The reason you don’t get fog lights on the widebody is because the fog light location is actually a air duct to your brakes for cooling.

SO THIS MEANS THE REGULAR CHALLENGER BODY DOESNT HAVE BRAKE DUCTS BECAUSE OF SMALLER BRAKES? IS THAT NECESSARY TO HAVE COOLING DUCTS ON BIGGER BRAKES BECAUSE YOU MUST GO AT HIGHER SPEEDS TO GET THAT COOLING UN LIKE CITY DRIVING. I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE THE FACTORY FOGS IF THEY REALLY HELP WITH BETTER VISION.

​@@microminiskirt I think Dodge feels that the WB cars will probably be taken to the track more, and the brake cooling ducts will make a big difference in brake cooling and, therefore, less brake fade. But you're right - in regular city driving, you will see little difference. Mainly on the track or carving canyons. Remember, the front brakes do 80% of the stopping on a car, so they can get hot 🔥 in certain circumstances.

@@scottandrews4822 vERY true and consider the Challenger is 4,200+ pounds so like anything else the more weight, the more wear and tear on everything especially the brakes. But if you don't drive like that and just cruise around easy like grandma/grandpa you are still hauling all the weight around. Perhaps the weight will contribute to the comfort and ride on street roads in isolating those nasty dips on these ill maintained public roads we have here.🤢🤮

@@microminiskirt I have a 2021 Charger Scat Pack now and just traded it on my new Challenger T/A 392, so I'm familiar with the weight. However, I feel that Dodge has done such a great job whrh the engines and suspension that the weight is not felt. And it's not like a Camaro or Mustang are the weight of a Miata, so its all relative. If it was lighter snd smaller, then maybe a 485 HP engine wouldn't work. Regardless, I loved my Charger and will love my Challenger too. Plus, I have a 2022 Ram Ecodiesel that is kind of the other end of the spectrum. #Moparornocar

Did you notice a difference in the steering between the two? It seems like my steering wheel is a little more harder to turn with the widebody vs the RT I used to have. 🤔

Check the settings on your adaptive suspension setup. The steering effort and feel is adjustable and you may have the steering on Track mode. But, in any case, larger and wider tires will be a little harder to turn, if only for the increased rotational mass. With the Dodge's excellent electric power steering system, it shouldn't be that much more difficult though unless the steering is in Track mode. I hope this helps.

Built out a 22 redeye charger online exact same spec as my 21 and base price increased $4,430. Adding incentive I got vs now and that's a 7k savings ordering last year vs ordering now. Kinda crazy.

@@soiceyboyz2979 dodges website has it, it's either $1k off on hellcats or 0% for 72 months usually. Incentive called national consumer cash, last year it dropped from 4k to 2k. Dealer needs to put in at time of order and you receive/pay at delivery

better traction, better handling, 3 mode suspension, and bigger breaks, totally worth it on a scatpack but not as much with the hellcat but i still want a hellcat in the widbody since the hellcat needs all the tire it can get
