Yeah, I think we need a lot more context as to where you are. I'm American. If you are in an American establishment and you don't tip the waitstaff, then you're a pretty shitty person in my books simply because that's where most of their money comes from. They work for tips, and if they don't get tipped, that could change whether or not they're able to eat, pay rent, etc.

i don't think cheating in school is exactly bad, because you kinda have to take everything up until highschool, but if you're in college in a course you chose, then it's kinda bad because you put yourself into that situation and you aren't taking your education seriously
@maem7462
@maem7462 Жыл бұрын
That’s my same opinion. With college if you cheer on general education class then that’s fine. It’s not worth it to fail a class and have to pay so much more for a gen Ed. If it’s your major and you cheat then that’s bad especially if you go into health care. In healthcare situations you most likely won’t be able to ask someone for help or look stuff up especially if you’re in the middle of a surgery. Some other jobs you can ask ppl or look up stuff if you don’t know the answer. You aren’t going to be in a spot with 0 options to help you remember the question

I've cheated on quizzes, those doesn't seem too bad with me. Cuz sometimes the things in the lesson doesn't immediately go into my head... But for a quarterly exam/test (or something), if the subject still didn't get in my head then that's my problem. Also, I hate it when seatmates bother me to cheat in the dumbest ways, like why involve me with your act? I comply anyway which feels worse, since I just want them to finish cheating so they can stop bothering me when I'm focusing on the test but it's actually just condoning their behavior (feels-bad-man).

Half of people in the world can't remember everything a teacher teaches or have slow learning issues that need a IEP that it frustrates and determines a person's future. @@Raphaeltheslayer Ngl though the whole tipping waiters thing is only a problem within the U.S. mainly due to waiters not being paid a liveable wage (if we're talking advanced countries-wise). You don't see things like this occurring in like France per say. It's interesting having this conversation with my buddies from different EU countries because the circumstances are different. So what the original commenter stated is 100% true. In other advanced EU countries tiping is just a bonus, in the U.S. tipping is crucial to waiters.
@thatoneperson8042
@thatoneperson8042 Жыл бұрын
@@Raphaeltheslayer It's this game that's played within the states with waiters in which they pay you lower than the minimum wage because in theory minimum wage is reached by tips (emphasis on "in theory"), and when u increase minimum wage (and hence increase their wage which often times isn't minimum wage anyway) you start seeing an increase on taxes making said wage increase useless anyway. With all that being said, no one is forcing you to tip since it's ultimately your choice in the end regardless.

Okay so I agree with Hosuh, I believe there is not bad people, people just make poor decisions, with cheating on your test in the end it will always just be cheating yourself, leaving shopping carts out is annoying but people have jobs who deal with that, tipping is weird and offensive in some countries (I’m not continuing these are just my thoughts)

Nah. Example, there was this one nurse who worked in pediatrics and would put deadly medication into the IVs of children so that she could later rescue them so she could look good in the eyes of everyone. Ended up killing several of them since she wasn’t able to save all of them before people figured out what she was doing. I think that qualifies as a bad person. In what world does fame justify putting children’s lives in peril and destroying the hearts of their parents?
@toxicbearii5640

@@sophiagomez5619 I feel no empathy for that nurse at all what she did was awful but if you look from her point of view she wanted to do something to be good, of course there are other ways to go about it but she wanted to seem like a good person, Ive been there I did everything I could to be viewed as: kind and good. @@sophiagomez5619 that seems like a complex, some people get into jobs that help others just for gratification of saving others, not because they want to help them but they want to feel better than others or want to be seen as a better person. Kind of ironic because the whole good and bad person thing ranks people and compares them to other individuals which could be argued to be a bad thing to do and creates people like this because it could be an advantage to be looked up to. But they usually come from narcissistic people because that’s how they were taught to live by getting told or by looking at the actions of others that also just do it for their own benefit or even fun at times. These people are still like this because of complete circumstance since people probably live predetermined lives because it’s just a reaction to their experience and how the world moulded them, since most people in the world are pretty similar when it comes to the way their brains work and function, but it’s just the way are experiences shaped us that made us the people we are. This could be such a deep rooted thing in their mind that they weren’t able to get rid of as a child. Doesn’t excuse their actions, just an explanation.
@toxicbearii5640

@@thederp9309A year later I’ve changed my philosophy, I believe there are no bad people nor good people. People can be nice or mean, but with so many people in the world, everyone is complicated and have reasoning for their actions, branding someone as good or bad feels wrong. I think people can make bad actions and choices which were described in this video, but painting a picture of someone who could be so much more than bad or good feels very black and white, and humanity unfortunately is not that simple. I feel it’s like zodiac signs, everyone is different and complex, so grouping them is useless. Label their actions not their being.

def agree with the waiter thing cause there have been many cases where the waiters are bad people themselves and leaving the impression that they don't deserve a tip. For instance a waitress at a sushi resturaunt had a fight with whole was probably her partner in a relationship, then when me and my friends waited in line, got in, and finished eating, we asked for the tip and that same waitress had messed up the instructions when ordering and almost made us pay each order we got double the price and when that was fixed and we gave a 15% tip she glared like "ugh so little" and then kind threw our reciept and card towards us in a very rude way. Keep in mind that 15% is pretty standard for a tip and we were all poor full time students with no jobs and she did mess up the orders on the reciept, and now she being rude for no reason even though we tipped 15%???! I legit wished I didn't tip at all cause for around 3 months I didn't go there but after that my family actually went there cause she knew the owner and was invited there (Didn't see the waitress that day luckily. She probably was fired cause I go by that resturaunt often and never saw her there again so thats some good news for me.

I'm really interested in the tipping-culture of other places. Here, it's okay to not tip at all, and most of the time, the tips are about 5%, maybe 10% of the bill. From what I gather, in the USA it's 15-20%? I've worked as a waitress at a restaurant and the biggest tip I ever got was 10€ from a regular (who never tipped) during Christmas season. The bills there were regularly over 100€, and I never minded. Additionally, if the money was left on the table, it went to the owner, if it's given to you directly, it was yours. Some places pool the tips to split between waiters and the kitchen. So all in all, I would never say not tipping (even with good service) makes you a bad person.

The test one made me think that it depends on if it's actually not harming anyone. Cuz I think it would depend on which country you're in. In the us for instance as far as I'm aware your grades will influence if you can get into a college, and you're sorta competing agaisn't everyone else. There is also the issue of college being expensive when it comes to college grades, and failing a class meaning a lot of money loss. To me this would make cheating in school before college kinda bad if you think about it cuz even if it doesn't seem like it, it's a competition, but I'd understand cheating in a college exam. I still think it's bad since you'll be getting a degree saying you learned the stuff you had to when you didn't but I'd find more understandable. However, in my country your highschool grades don't really influence if you'll get in college, cuz each college has their own exam you take to get in and compete against others. So if you cheated in math your whole life, then studied super hard for the entrance exam and do well on that exam, then the previous grades don't matter all that much. The test I"d think it would be super horrible to cheat in would be this entrance exam, because you'd be harming someone else, since it's a competition to get into college, but cheating once or twice in highschool to me wouldn't be a big deal since in a way you're only harming yourself when you'll have to learn this anyways for the college entrance exams.

Or like, the tipping thing. In the US, waiters make less than minimum and the rest of their income has to come from tipping. It could be the difference between being able to pay the bills. In other countries, it’s extraneous or rude.

Defining someone is bad or good is pretty hard, for justice often misses benevolence. These questions are more of a morale questions, questioning that of our common sense. Like cheating, most people must've cheated at least once for they are not a saint. So they would think that it is a common things that happens, therefor they are not a bad person by the majority. But again, if we see it from another pov, cheating breaks the rules and it might actually harms someone in the future, in a way you wouldn't think. at the end of the day, it might just be a reason for them to correct themself, in order to excuse themself for cheating. If you want to ask these things, perhaps you should've asked someone pure hearted, like a kindergarten kids who's still innocent. But again, you can't simply determine whether someone's good or bad just from a single, simple questions. There's a lot of kind people in this world. But sometimes, they just forgot and need to be reminded. sometimes they just forgot because all these pressure they got from all the negativity going around

the cheating one is so interesting but i have to wholeheartedly agree with the majority: sometimes learning should not be memorising especially when you'll forget it after 2 weeks cause you wont use that knowledge. There are so many much better ways of checking knowledge like projects or reports when you have to utilise your knowledge AND sources. Im saying it as a STEM major who never cheated in school but started in college on certain exams where you had to study useless stuff that were unintuitive and barely related to my major... HECK EVEN PROFESSORS SOMETIMES ENCOURAGED US TO CHEAT OR PRETENDED NOT TO SEE like leaving the room for 20 minutes or saying where the answer should be in our notes the doctors dont remember all the body parts all the time- they need to revise their knowledge and they have books to read before performing a surgery. So them cheating on 4h bone recognition test during 1st semester wont affect their career that badly

I agree with Hart, cheating is whatever. Do what you gotta do. Especially if you're given a disadvantage at school being a minority. This is coming from the perspective of an Asian American man who was told my entire life, by a high pressure family, to just study day in, n day out in order to be successful in school, and has never cheated.. make that hustle work for you. Goin along with this b.s. school system has not done a damn thing for me. It takes years of your life with no garenteed follow through. Only thing I gained was bein extremely tired, n put in debt, I'm not sayin cheat all the time, there are some things you can't cheat through life in.. but do what you gotta do if you ain't given the opportunities to get as far, despite your skill level in other areas. Standardized testing is a sham, n sometimes no matter how hard you study, even if you know the material.. you gone fail. Not like what's given on most of the tests are some valuable life skills you'll utilize on a daily basis anyway. As Hosuh said, but kinda back tracked uh there aren't good, or bad people, just people of circumstances.

Cheating is bad because, in case you didn't know... It DOES effect people other than you. Whether it makes their grade look worse because you cheated, or forcing everyone to *retake* because you got caught and making the teacher look bad. Plus it even hurts yourself because you don't get to gain knowledge since you might think "oh it's okay if I don't really learn it I can just cheat". I wouldn't say it's a "horrendous crime deserving of huge punishment" but it's definitely worse than not returning a shopping cart because it's a requirement not to do not a choice for being a nice.

for that last one im trying to think of a scenario where that could be logical, but like, the whole reason we've developed these resources is to combat illnesses and things we previously couldnt, removing resources does not mean there will be the same amount of allocation somewhere like clicking and dragging a nurse into an architect.

1.Educational dishonesty isn’t okay(imo)especially if ur in high school or college and it’s a major class.2.As a child of a waitress i can say that you’re not a bad person if you don’t tip them for not being satisfied with their service.Also when tipping do cash not credit cause then the waitress has to pay for the receipt tax(i don’t remember all of it)

3:11 As a British person, I find this hilarious because you guys have to tip for legit everything and in England, you can tip, but if you don’t it doesn’t mean anything. My cousin in the states when we were 13 didn’t want to buy something she could afford just because we didn’t have enough for a tip. Here if your a kid and you’re tipping, the staff or person at the counter just find you as a cute kid and never seem like they expect a 13 yr old to give them extra money

Question about the last one: Is it referring to the old and sick, or the old and the sick? If it's talking about people who are only one of those (Like Stephens Little Timmy joke) then obviously yes, but if it's talking about people who are both old and severely ill at the same time, then they're not wrong, but at the same time no good person has ever said that.

No, Hossuh, that is unhelpful. It isn't a matter of simply studying. Some people just cannot understand what is being taught to them, due to the WAY, or due to learning disabilities. ADHD people really struggle. But we are SMART. I excelled in school with little effort until a certain point and then no matter how hard I tried, and I TRIED, it all went in one ear and out the other and I would CRY because WHY can't I understand this? I have listened in class, didn't make sense, listened to my friend explain, didn't make sense, other friend showed me, made sense, great! Got home, not even 20 minutes has passed. Forgot it already. What the hell. Asked the SMARTEST KID. IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL. Still didn't understand it. Some people. Just cannot comprehend the thing. Also, yes, if you don't return the shopping you are actively CHOOSING to just be a bad, lazy person. 10 more steps won't kill you to just be a good person.

I’m exactly like that. Used to be “smart”. 98% in science throughout middle school, 3rd place Olympiad winner in elementary school, certificate of honour in elementary too, and was accepted for a gifted child program right before 8th grade started. I was hopeless at maths from the start though lol. But high school hit, and now after somehow passing 11th grade, I’m not who I used to be. I’m at the bottom of my class. I’ve been thinking that it’s adhd related for 2-3 years, but everyday, there are things that tell me I can’t possibly have it:/ Sorry for the rant, I kinda wanted to vent:)

Depends on where you leave the shopping cart, leaving it in the designated area is lawful good, leaving it on an island out of the way of cars is neutral and leaving it in areas where it blocks cars or risks them accidentally crashing is bad.
