Both of these traditions carry so much wisdom and truth . I can't imagine living my life and not trying to pull as much of that wisdom out as I can . Life is too short to have a rigid view of the world and I hope more people can be touched and enlightened by these great teachings . God Bless you all

Since I'm studying Buddhism, I realize that there are so many parallels between the Buddha and words of Jesus in particular - this can't be a coincidence! Eckhart Tolle for example also highlights the similarities between Buddhism and Jesus' teachings in his book "The Power of Now." How is it possible that there are so many similarities? I've heard the theory of Jesus being a student of Mahayana Buddhism in the "missing years" (age 12-30) that are not in the bible. Could that be true? And if not, why are Buddhist teachings so similar to what Jesus said?

I'm from the UK and thank you so much for this. I've been struggling for many years with the internal conflict of which path to choose, Buddhism or Christianity. I've never really considered both, as initially thought they'd conflict with each other. If it works incorporating both traditions, producing nicer human beings, who love each other and planet Earth, then why not. Duality, the either or approach is the cause of so much hurt in the world.

In Buddha’s Dhamma and other oriental doctrines, there is no rule which said you have to give up your existing religion. People in East Asia have been practising Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism at the sametime for thousands of year without any issue. Each of these doctrines are to overcome the same problem statement by using their own methods. These methods is not nescessarily to be conflicting with each other. It is the human that always comparing these methods against each other and created arguments out of it. From Buddha-Dhamma point of view, there is nothing wrong with Christian or Muslim to adopt Buddha’s Dhamma to understand their life. Same as you adopt mathematic, physic or Science knowledge to innovate things.

I believe that my foundation will always be Christianity but the questions are becoming too loud to simply ignore and the path seems to be widening over the past few years. I was born in Amman Jordan, I am Palestinian from Bethlehem and Jaffa originally. My grandmother is from the Dajani family which is mystic and not “Muslim” they historically challenged local religions and politics to protect the holy land ( protecting king David’s tomb in modern day Israel, rejecting hijabs and seperation, teaching the history of all three monotheistic religions) I myself was raised in the United States and in Roman Catholic school but labeled “Muslim” In my high school which I now realize was so progressive and beautiful compared to what I’ve heard others experiences were in Catholic education, I was taught Buddhism by a teacher that was a recovering addict and gay; but taught our religion class when I was 15. Me and my friend wanted to convert to Buddhism then, life and the realities of 2007-2020 took over (I am now 33, millennial at best). Years later, while studying moral philosophy with a lot of atheists actually and those traumatized by both Islam and Christianity me and my peers had an enlightenment only described by these beliefs and texts. We realized the undeniable relationship between Jesus and Siddharta, that they may have actually met not just existed. The similarities and their story, how important it is, and how parallel. I believe Christian Buddhism is my “religion” but it is undeniable that in those belief systems it is counter intuitive and counter productive to ever consider “religion” as something close to god and to our true calling and life. It is a beautiful thing, and I am happy more people are spreading the true word of God and the universe.

Reaching out begging God to surround me with brothers in my darkest of times only to be given that "Christian Side Hug" and not a warm brotherly embrace. Seeing Bible thumping Christians praise things antithetical to the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. Religious Idolatry run amok! Worshipping the Church and the Cross and not the one who was nailed to it. Those who have scripture in their minds but hatred in their hearts. The holier than thou. The descendents of the Pharisees and Sadducees. I didn't leave Jesus because I physically can't I accepted him into my heart those years ago and my spirit is yoked eternally to the holy spirit. My wife left me after 22 years together and when I would go to church she would seldom attend. God led this Angel into my life and she is Christian...she reached out to me through Facebook and I've never known a love like her's. And now the tribe I was searching for was here the whole time. Ok...ok... God's just showin off now 😂😂😂😂

@Bane_questionmark
@Bane_questionmark 3 жыл бұрын
They don't. I know little about Buddhism, but I am a Christian and can tell none of these people have ever opened the Bible beyond cherrypicking a few verses about love or something. You simply cannot be a Christian and follow some eastern religion at the same time, maybe you can take some things from both and make up your own, but then you are neither following the teachings of Buddha or of Christ. I doubt the Buddha would approve of random alterations to his worldview, and the Bible is quite clear about people who change the Word or preach their own Gospel disguised with Christ's name.

This is proof what I belive that's Lord Buddha never refuse there have no god, but he want people to getting pure and clean spirit. this is not my enlighting because I still cannot found the real truth, it is just my assumption. what is my point of view? Maybe we have only one God in the difference name and differences teacher, Lord Buddha is just the one of Teacher and he never refuse other beliver, he have his own way, he just focus on how to build your mind to getting strong, then you will find your own way, The Lord Buddha choose to Nirvana after death, this is the way he choose and teach the way to Nirvana if you want to follow his path, you will not choose to Nirvana after you get enlightenment, he (the Buddha) choose to the Nirvana after he was enlightenment. and never said that's all the Buddhist should be Nirvana. same as you wanna live with your GOD, after you getting enlightenment by yourself, maybe you find the way path to met your God and live with him by not go to Nirvana.

According to Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, God in (Theravada)Buddhism is the Law of nature itself(law of Dependent Origination) this law govern everything and manifest itself into the 4 noble truths(Ariyasacca) and the three marks of existence(Tri Laksana). The Law is the God. Brahma is not a creator God, he's only a high being in a realm of meditative power(Jhana). The other type of Devas(Angels).

I am sorry to say but moulding two groups of faith together counteracts the purpose of both of them not just the one. Christianity is exclusive. Its not possible to be a Christian Buddhist in Jesus mind because He says he is the only way the truth and the life. Which means partnership something else with Him is heresy, its an abomination. Its also not tapping into the spirit. its not possible to have the Holy Spirit serving a Buddhist faith also. The Holy Spirit Who is the ultimate Spirit leads people to Christ only. Only people filled with the Holy Spirit will be saved. The bible makes that perfectly clear.

Jesus says in his word that "whoever wants to follow me must take up his cross and deny himself. " This means even the things that we think are right and are not. We cannot place another teaching with the gospel of Jesus Christ being the only way to salvation. Jesus talks about idols and idols dont have to be images made up of gold they are the things that we hold close and dear to us that take his ultimate place in our lives which is substituting him with Buddha. You cannot serve two masters. He loves you so much and his heart is so tender and forgiving but it ultimately makes him sad because of his great and zelouse love he has for us that words cant explain and we can never comprehend! Id say whoever comes across this comment to please spent time calling to God to find the truth to life and he will reveal himself which is through his son Jesus Christ that is the only way to salvation. Id say whoever is coming across this to please open your hearts to really thinking this out through the truth of scripture. Im truly praying for you all and have nothing but love and heart is broken to this, but just know that Jesus loves you all and he is so merciful. Hes rich in love and truly has his arms open to even those that are caught up in this deception and dont know that they are. He will always forgive and that what makes Jesus who he is. I pray that you all turn to his desire for you all to truly live for him alone. God bless you all ! 🙏

But is seen eckhart toll and the Dali lama early on videos on how Buddhism can make Christians be better Christians. The universe in not either or its non dual. And ways I. The early Jesus t Etching you are not seperat E from God's love you are God love the Roman's did some pretty awful control tactic to the religion I think Jesus had a Buddha Revelation that the self self is an illusion and that We are the universe but the Roman's said ok well only this one man can be it were Buddhist everyone's it. Since I grew up in the Christian tRadiation it was easier to find my Buddha potential by being or co.paring to being Christ like I equated the 2 Like bc I grew up with the images of christ I believe christ was a Buddha the both taught compassion for ppls suffering. When I read the Bible I only go for the part that are actual Jesus words and they pretty much match up with the precepts

No, it's impossible to believe in the Buddhist teachings if you believe in the Christian worldview. Buddhism believes in order to reach nirvana or enlightenment etc. You must let go of all desires and emotions of the physical, to be free of suffering. Meaning, leaving your family, be completely secluded from anything that could cause you to be corrupted by the physical. Which is literally impossible. Unless you're self serving and only regard your own needs buddhism is impossible and also impossible cause man will continually in their heart be wicked. And if you're a Buddhist you must believe there is no ressurrection only reincarnation. Which would contradict Jesus Salvation for you, for GLORIFICATION. And there is no God. You believe there I no higher being. So literally fundamentally Christianity and Buddhism cannot be mixed. You cannot be enlightened and overcome humanity, only the son of man could and we must put our faith and trust in The Father, The Son and Holy Spirit. In order to prevent us from following our flesh. Not beat it but face it.
