Thanks for these videos. I did an advanced driving course many, many years ago and have found the instructions given useful every time I drive. I would recommend taking the course to everyone. In a very early edition of "Road Craft", the police driving manual, the one piece of advice I have always followed was, "Leave room for one; give way to one". I watched til the end and clicked like. You will get me as a subscriber, if you answer this question. Years ago I saw a Police video on KZbin. It had commentary, but not much else due to camera position. He kept saying ‘life saver’. Is that, an extra look at junctions? I couldn’t see head movements….

Yes the lifesaver look is a look over your shoulder at junctions, when you are joining a motorway or making a change in position to check your blind spot. Hope that helps

Thank you. As promised I have subscribed! I am hoping to launch a road safety based message which works in 86 countries that use English. But today, I found it translates into Portuguese, Spanish and French. Which pretty much makes it a worldwide safety message. I will update you as it progresses. Looking at the camera is not good. When exiting a roundabout you must use your left door mirror, if a cyclist was passing you on the near-side (legal) you wouldn't see him, generally poor visual scanning especially to the sides. Not enough use of all three mirrors.

I can see how you may have misinterpreted looking at the camera for lateral scanning. I agree that the use of near side mirror is required for cyclists but also use of off side mirror is required as this is where motor cyclists typically pass and I am very particular about both when driving and teaching. I have to disagree with you on your statement as I use mirrors often and as appropriate.
