When we don't feel well in our body, we often tense up against our symptoms. This keeps us locked in a fight, flight or freeze state and perpetuates conditions like Long Covid, ME/CFS, insomnia and anxiety. In this video, I talk about signs that you're resisting or accepting the present moment. This can have a profound effect on the intensity and duration of symptoms!

Thank you! One simple way to reframe a thought about pain for me is simply to think about it in French. Pain is our word for bread. Our word for pain is douleur. So I can think: Today I have a little bit of bread in my legs :)

Very helpful thank you. On a tangent I saw your other video on how to challenge your activity levels. How do you know if fatigue is actually telling you that your body needs to rest versus it’s just a false nervous system symptom and that you can actually challenge yourself? I’m always hearing opposing messages

@lilita937 You're welcome! There's a number of factors: One is whether you've done enough activity to cause fatigue. If you haven't, it's a sign that it's a mind-body symptom. That said, you want to challenge neuroplastic symptoms in manageable steps. If you get overwhelmed, it's time to do something soothing to let your system settle down!

@@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach when you say enough you mean enough for your normal healthy self? Also is it really common that symptoms shift to make you scared? For example I was getting PEM I think? Every day after 3pm oddly. And it was an energy sucking feeling, like I was pullled into thr couch and my HR wouldn’t recover. I had a good mindset and was doing all this work. Suddenly I had 4 good days good mood, sleep, felt regulated etc, then a crash and another kinda off day, but then I had another crash later and it manifested as heaviness in my limbs, which usually doesn’t happen or hasn’t in many months.

@@elikovaaa That's hard! But keep at this. Yes, it's common for symptoms to shift and for that to cause fear. You have to work with yourself where you're at now, while slowly expanding your activity in manageable steps!

Hi Rebecca! I love your channel, you always give me such a sense of ease 💚 I wonder, did you ever had things like malaise, or random sore throat that will come and go? Like if your body is starting with a flu. I know it is not very helpful to compare symptoms, but particularly the sore throat keeps me doubting if this could also be TMS? How can the nervous system/brain cause things like sore throat? I get things like tingling, dizziness, brian fog etc are more brain like symptoms, but the other ones look more immune issue to me. Thank you so much for all the work you do 💚💚

@elenaperezpereira8656 Aww, thanks for your sweet words! 💜 I absolutely had malaise and viral symptoms that ebbed and flowed for those 13 years. These are more common than you might think. When our brain and nervous system are hypervigilant, the other systems in our body are not functioning optimally. As we turn down the danger signal in our brain, our immune function works better! The brain is regulating all these bodily systems and can cause any sensations in the body. Hi Rebecca good video, I was diagnosed many many years ago with CFS after a long term flu that just never went away in any time I got the tiniest bit stressed I would have 10 days of odd flu symptoms, then came the interstitial cystitis and then the fibromyalgia which got worse after a car accident that was pretty severe. I have overcome a lot of these issues there was no KZbin back then no social media just yahoo groups most of which were depressing. It took a long time I made a lot of mistakes, but now I am dealing with the worst of all conditions that I got while I was still sick with all of these other issues called trigeminal neuralgia caused by dental surgery. A holistic dentist said if he pulled a root canal tooth and cavitated the bone my body would heal from all of its conditions. After the anesthetic wore off I was in the worst pain I could ever possibly imagine feeling like my tooth was being drilled on 24 seven with no Novacaine even though it wasn’t there anymore,And then it moved to the next tooth which is typical of TN. So this pain caused by a dentist I do not find is similar to the pain my body created. I’m curious if you have ever worked with anyone who has trigeminal neuralgia mine is called a typical type two trigeminal neuralgia. My biggest pain reliever is meditation chewing talking laughing all causes pain I have to meditate a lot just to calm the nervous system but the pain eventually comes back. Would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Thank you

@lindapelle8738 Oh Linda, I am so sorry for all your suffering. You are so resilient, and I'm glad you've overcome many symptoms!! Unless there is a clear causal finding, TN can be neuroplastic and many people recover from it. If there was a structural reason for the pain, and it was treated, your body would naturally heal. When pain persists without a clear pathological cause, it's helpful for most people to treat is as a mind-body condition. Yes, I have seen people recover from this! You might try my free somatic meditation for this symptom and see how it helps! www.rebeccatolin.com/newsletter

Dont following this instructions properly is usually why many of you recover to 60-80% and then hit the wall.

Rebecca I’m really struggling with trusting if I have a real uti or not I find this so so hard to trust and not worry all the time is this thrush or a uti or is it TMS without constantly going to get urine tested etc plus tests don’t always pick up on real infections it’s so hard to know do I take antibiotics do I carry on in so much pain? I’m struggling so bad! After suffering for so long with chronic pelvic pain and doing well I got a true uti (or so I believe) took anx and symptoms went but they are back again so strong and I don’t know if it’s an infection or not or how to trust a test if I get one. 😢

@HollyDennett-u6d I dealt with this same dynamic and I know it's very challenging! While I can't give medical advice, it I thought I might have an actual UTI, I used a test from the drug store to check. When needed, I got checked by a doctor. If the bacteria test is negative, I didn't have an UTI and it was neuroplastic (called interstitial cystitis) and I treated it with these techniques. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry for your great suffering. It's important to rule out anything pathological and treatable with your physician. But if they can't find anything, the symptoms you describe can be caused by the brain and nervous system. You’re videos are back :) Hey Rebecca can you make a video about why vaccines can cause the same fight or flight response ? Why does this happen
@mamatra1552
@mamatra1552 17 күн бұрын
I don't remember the exact methodology, but there was a study where people were either getting a COVID-19 vaccine shot, or a placebo shot. People who got placebo also experienced 'post-vaccine' symptoms. Expectations and beliefs play a big role. That could be one explanation. Hope it answers your question!
@fposhaughnessy
@fposhaughnessy 16 күн бұрын
@@mamatra1552 I doubt that is the case with proper nervous system disorders. I suspect that is more the case with injection site swelling not severe CFS, chronic pain etc, happy to be proven wrong. My theory is that vaccines are stressors and if your system is already full, the last drop might be the vaccine and that is what triggers the full blown expression of Long Covid ,CFS, chronic pain etc, and why they might be helpful for some and the begining of a nightmere for others, it depends on your alostatic load including trauma. That was the case for me anyway. Plus our knowledge of the brain and nervous system is incomplete, so there that.
@mamatra1552
@mamatra1552 16 күн бұрын
@fposhaughnessy oh I absolutely agree with the vaccine being the one drop too many for an overloaded nervous system thing. That's why I said it's one possible explanation. That being said, beliefs and expectations still play a huge role when suffering from symptoms generated by an overloaded/hypersensitive NS.
