Another awesome video my friend I watched all you videos and in almost all your videos you say PAINT ON PAINT OFF! And this may sound crazy but I silently say that to myself when I’m painting to remember to keep the air on ! You have me so preprogrammed I have a full tank system now and I literally have the system kicking on cause I keep the air on!! Cause I’m so paranoid about letting go too soon ! I had to stop my cretex white kept on making the gun sputter and make it run like crap and I was literally cleaning the tip every 5 seconds so I’m gonna thin it down again and try again tomorrow lol! A fellow airbrush artist said to use distilled water instead of 4011 reducer and it has a shelf life of forever ! As long as it’s sealed have you ever used distilled water to reduce your paints ? Thank you for your help Marc

I usually pinch the airbrush in between my two thumbs. That gives a more precise motion and more applicable strength to the air.

Picked up airbrushing for the first time during the pandemic (largely through this channel). Arrival of second child meant I put it away for a while, but finally found it's way back out again in recent weeks. Great fun - although I'm getting problems with both tip drying (this video confirmed I am using largely the correct technique) and moisture from the compressor. I use an Iwata compressor and try to regularly empty the moisture trap while I'm airbrushing, but it seems inevitable that at some point during painting I'm going to get a nice big wet painty splat over my artwork. Is the only way to avoid this to just not have the compressor running for too long? At the moment I'd say it's after 20-30 minutes that I start becoming aware of it. Great channel. Thanks.

I would highly suggest getting a compressor with a tank. Don’t know where you are located. Here in the states I bought a California air tools air compressor: 1 hp 8 gallon tank with 70 decibels and no water in the line. Tankless air compressors get got pretty easy, which creates to much moisture that can lead to what you’re referring to. Maybe airbrush asylum can suggest something as well cheers.

Thanks for your kind words re : my channel and glad you are getting back into airbrushing. In regards to your compressor, not sure which iwata compressor you have but anything from an IS 875 upwards should be able to handle quite a few hours of painting without it beginning to overheat and create moisture within your line, if you are using a smaller one like the Ninja or silverjet then they are better suited to smaller applications ie .. miniatures and cake decorating. If you do have one of the larger models then you may want to get it looked at, as it sound as though the moisture trap is failing ? You may still have warranty ? The other option is to get a compressor with a tank so that you can paint for longer without it turning on all the time, this will save you lots of moisture issues, also keep in mind where you are airbrushing, a humid climate will always yield more issues when it comes to moisture, hope that helps. 🤞🏻😉

thanks for your kind words and glad you enjoy my vids, this book is from kmart here in Australia but you can also find them in $2 dollar shops scattered across Australia, I'm sure amazon or any stationary / art shop should have something similar, the one I use is A3 in size 👍🏻

Just focus on mastering your double action ie..keeping the trigger pressed down at all times and only pull back on the trigger when you require paint. 🤘🏻

Don Eddy would disagree with your generalization of the single-action airbrush. Look at his work and see what you can achieve.

@@altoidosgood it isn't an exception to the the rule. There are no rules. There are outcomes and the means to an end. The artist will determine the outcome based on his path through his process. The airbrush is a tool. The artist will determine whether or not it will get the results desired. For an artist to say that his way is the only way to get results precludes the fact there are other ways to achieve the same degree of finish by way of alternative applications. There are always alternatives.

Fair enough...I did say that the single action airbrush does have a place in airbrushing, but...to use it to create art (as impressive as that is what Don Eddy is doing) would make the whole process SO much more difficult hence why 99.9% of artists use double action airbrushes....Don Eddy's Art is astounding...and I have even more respect for him, that he has created that quality of work with a single action airbrush . 🤯
