Captain Wagstaff suffers a mild ailment which gets banded about the store after being uncovered in the fitting room. This leads to a well-supported fight which doesn't go quite to plan.

Am used to the British version of Are you being served? However this is amusing too. I quite like the tune for this version, as it’s catchy.

Can't hold a candle to the British original. Even John Inman himself couldn't save the Aus series.

Every episode but one was based on an episode from the UK series. It never had a chance to stand on its own with its own characters. And then, of course, the intro shows how heavily they leaned into making Humphries the big star.

I am afraid not. Of all the episodes that have been recovered, episode 3 of season 1 remains lost. Supposedly, its title was "Mrs. Crawford, Senior Person."

This one is only slightly funny. The British did a much better job. They don't have the same chemistry that the original crew did.

In the British copy, the guy who fought Humphries looked like he couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.

1) the British wasn't the copy, this one is. 2) the guy who fought mr. Humpfries was an actual professional wrestler named Jackie Pallo. He had to act his way through the fighting due to the BBC health and safety regulations.

@@Secret_Agent_Mark Nope. The British was the copy. That's why each character in the British is a copy of someone from the original Aussie. Captain Peacock is Captain Wagstaff, or example. Mr.Grace is a copy of Mr. Bone. Mrs. Slocomb is a copy of Mrs. Crawford right down to the pussy jokes. I won't go into all the rest.

@fjccommish then would you mind explaining to me why the British version ran from 1972 until 1985 (a total of 10 seasons and 66 episodes) and the Australian version only ran 2 seasons from 1980 until 1981?

The British version is miles better than this P.O.S episode this one watered down version seems rushed. Mrs. Slocomb is way better, ( actress playing her I mean.) It's just a way better version of the show. Idk which came first, I'm American and only came across these shows about 5 yrs ago so idk know that, but I do prefer the other one. These suck big time. Also why are they copying the same episode just with different actors and actresses. The only one that's the same is the gay man, Mr. Humphries. Also the movie they did had some one liner jokes from the show. One about Mrs slocomb being flung on her back from a land mine and the Germans were responsible was in the movie and show. Probably in this crappy version too, but not going to find out I'm not watching anymore of this. 🤢🤮😔😮‍💨
