This is the first time I have come across this "In Australia/Down Under" of my favourite "Are you Being Served" I think this should be named/called/promoted as a different comedy show on its own merit even though my favourite actor Inman is included in it - to me personally there is only one "Are You Being Served" show with the original cast - not to say that the cast in this show is of less calibre - I believe each actor is very talented, however, I believe the inuendos, raised eyebrows and quick wit and even their down right appearance of the original cast cannot be copied/reproduced - my personal view point!

I believe this was a spin off once the British show was taken off air. It's a very blatant knockoff, and even by the theme song featuring Mr. Inman, a vehicle to try to grab the success of its prediscessor with as little work or originality as possible.

Would have been better to come up with original stories. However, I suspect they didn't pay for a writing staff, just maybe one writer to make a few changes to fit with Humphries in Australia. One example was in "The Junior" - the new junior was just temporary in the Aussie version.

The loss was $21.50. It was the same in the British copy - the numbers were off.

Sadly yes. What they left out was the pauses, wit, and delivery of the original. It’s been pretty difficult to watch.

this doesn't seem quite the same when the canteen manager called Mr Rumbold Jugears. The actor that plays Mr Randell does look like Rowan Atkinson though

Although I do quite like this Australian version, the theme music/song is awful. Why could they not keep the original theme music? Also the episode run time is shorter. The original UK series was made for the BBC to be shown without any commercial breaks and the episodes therefore have a full 30 minute length. The actress playing Mrs Crawford makes a very good imitation Mrs Slocombe.

The theme song was John Inman's own song he made. I suppose they weren't allowed to use the original theme song.
