Hello, great video! I have an additional question, how do you clean the fabric between the suede leather parts? Any tips for this?
@evumies7 ай бұрын
Hey friend! Thanks so much for watching. That's a great question. An answer I should have covered in the video. When it comes to the mesh, you can try to spot clean with a microfiber cloth. Make sure to put an absorbent towel underneath (inside the shoe) in order to catch the liquid so it doesn't bleed into the suede. Simply add some cleaner to the cloth and gently rub the soiled mesh area. Repeat as necessary and then finally with some fresh water to remove the cleaner. This is what I'd suggest! Hope that helps! Let me know how it turns out.

Ok, so how do you clean the mesh part of the sneaker without trying to wet the suede part?
@evumies6 ай бұрын
@@mprm247 Great question. I'd suggest putting an absorbent cloth inside the shoes to absorb any excess moisture and very gently use a small brush (like a toothbrush) to scrub the mesh. You can do it slowly and carefully. At the end of the day, don't fret too much about getting your suede wet, it's not the end of the world. Just note that you can potentially cause water spots on your leather. To fix water spots, you'll have to dampen the entire suede with water, just don't soak it. After it's dry, you can brush the suede back to the original texture. I hope this helps. All advice is at your own risk since I don't know your exact situation. All the best!

I read for stains that wont budge using white vinegar is ok? Is this true? And also for oil stains to use baking powder is this also true? Loved your video thank for helping!
@evumies3 ай бұрын
It's not that white vinegar can't get out stains sometimes, but it's not my suggestion for cleaning suede because of the pH balance. Suede leather typically has a pH level around 4.5 to 5.5, which is slightly acidic. This pH range helps maintain the leather's softness, flexibility, and overall integrity. White vinegar, on the other hand, has a much more acidic pH level of around 2.5. I'd suggest something like Leather Honey's new suede cleaning kit. It's very good. For oil stains, baking SODA, not baking powder can work really well. Simply create a paste using a little water and baking soda and apply it to the surface of the mark on your suede. Leave it for 24-48 hours on the suede and the brush off. Repeat as necessary. However, this may leave a water mark on your suede, so feel free to try just baking soda alone first in order to try to absorb the oil. All of this advice is at your own risk, because I don't know the exact situation, I can't be responsible for it, but this is what I'd do if it were me. Hope it helps!

@evumies18 күн бұрын
That's a great question! One thing you have to be careful about with suede erasers is that they are gritty. So if there is any soft or delicate parts of fabric, it may be rough on it and potentially ruin it. If you have a softer erasers, it may work well. It just depends what type of substance you're trying to clean from the tongue area. Theoretically, it can work as well. :)

I recently cleaned my suede shoes with a Jason mark cleaner and brush and now the suede is stiff..if I use the eraser will the softness come back or am I doomed ?
@evumies2 ай бұрын
Hey friend! You're not doomed! It looks like Jason Mark Cleaner's description notes that it is safe on suede, so what seems to have happened is that you may have used too much product or that you did not properly dry it. Either way, here's what I would do if it were me. Option 1: Did you use too much cleaner? In order to soften your suede again, make sure to remove all the cleaner from your suede, which may involve wiping down your suede with a damp cloth until all the suede seems like there's no cleaner left in it. Next, let fully dry. Once the suede is dry, brush it vigorously, but gently. Pushing too hard on your suede can ruin it. You may see some suede fibers breaking off, this is normal. Just wipe them away. Brush until suede's texture is soft again. From here, your suede should feel much better. If not, option 2: use a suede-specific eraser, which will have grittiness to liven back your suede and also remove anything that would keep it stiff. Use eraser thoroughly on all of the suede, don't push too hard. From there, wipe the eraser shavings off as you go until your suede feels soft again. Brush until soft. If it's still not soft and still stiff, you may consider using a mink oil suede spray which will soften the fibers of your suede. Use directions accordingly on the spray and then brush until suede is renewed. All of this is my suggestion at your own risk and I will not be held liable for any issues. All the best. Let me know how it turns out! I'd highly suggest using Leather Honey's new Suede kit: kit.co/evumies

@evumies2 күн бұрын
So sorry to hear that! That's a common issue with suede. If it's rain damage, I'd definitely suggest getting the Leather Honey Suede kit. kit.co/evumies Because the suede got wet, you'll want to re-wet and clean to entire suede. Don't leave any portion uncleaned otherwise it will be splotchy. One properly cleaning with the leather honey cleaner, you'll want to pat it dry with a lint free cloth. Let fully dry. From there, use the brush to re-nap the suede. If there's any hard portions, use the eraser to loosen up the suede, then brush. This should solve your issues if not make it better. Let me know how it turns out!

There is suede erasers of course, but also suede liquid cleaners that are safe for suede. Let me know how it turns out! If you need any supplies, I'd suggest these: kit.co/evumies

Is there a difference between suede erasers and normal erasers? A couple weeks ago I used a regular eraser on white suede but it left a dark mark and now I'm not sure if I can fix it. Could a suede eraser fix it? Thanks!
@evumies11 ай бұрын
What a great question! Yes, there is a difference. Many normal erasers are colored and will rub off their color onto the suede. In essence, they do a similar function, but with suede erasers, they add grittiness that acts like micro sandpaper that allows the eraser to better remove marks and dirt from suede. However, you can get similar results depending on the issue. Just know that a normal eraser may actually rub in the dirt or mark more, whereas the specially formed suede eraser's goal is to remove it more thoroughly.

My shoes got splashed with some droplets of sauce from someone dropping one what’s a good way to remove the sticky dots? I teach maybe white vinegar?
@evumies5 ай бұрын
Hey Braeden. Glad you found this video. It really depends. What's the sauce made from? Like a tomato sauce? Red? Do this at your own risk. I'd first let the sauce dry, the take a knife or razor blade edge and scrape off as much of the excess sauce or debris off of the suede. From there, I'd first try using a suede eraser to see if you can remove more dried sauce from the suede. If that still doesn't work, I'd purchase a proper suede cleaner and follow the instructions. You may have to clean the entire panel of leather otherwise you may have moisture spots. If you need to clean the area more than once, go for it. After this dries, your suede will probably be stiff, so brush it off good with a suede brush. If it's still stiff, you may need to rinse it again to get any excess cleaner off. Let dry and then brush it again. If it's still not the same texture, you may want to spray it with some mink oil spray and then brush it again. All the best. Check out my suggestions from here: kit.co/evumies

I used a transparent spray to my suede Light camel color shoes and i got black spots on it unfortunately i will try this method hope it’s not too late
@evumiesАй бұрын
Hey friend! Thanks for watching. Black spots? or darkened spots? Did you clean your suede before you sprayed it? If you oversaturated your suede, it may have left "water marks" or areas where the liquid dried up and accumulated the dirt. Have you tried brushing the spray through your suede yet? If that doesn't work, you can try something to fix it at your own risk. In order to remove water marks, (if this is actually what the issue is), you'll want to try to spray the area again and brush it through. If that doesn't work, try to saturate the entire suede shoes in water. Do not soak. This may ruin your suede, but it is the best solution to get rid of water marks. Then pat dry and air dry. THen brush thoroughly to reset nap. You may need to use the spray once more at the end if it's a mink oil hydrator for suede. Let me know if this works. All the best.

To be honest, I've ruined suede before by using pink erasers on light suede and it has ruined it by coloring it pink. Can i still save my shoes if i washed them with water (i let the water soak in yesterday) if so what do i use?
@evumies4 ай бұрын
Ooo. That's tricky. First of all, it wasn't the best idea to soak them in water, but yeah, we already know that at this point. You still may be able to save your suede shoes. We need some more information to take the best route. #1, why did you soak them in water? Due to mark or stain? Did you get that out? #2, if you used any type of cleaner or soap, you need to make sure that you thoroughly rinse the leather as much as possible before drying. #3, once you take the shoes out of the water, you should use a towel to pat dry as much excess water from the suede, making sure that the leather doesn't remain wet. If it does, it may begin to decompose or mold. Do your best to get as MUCH water out as you can WITHOUT using any heat or hair dryer. #4, don't put them in direct sunlight to dry. I'd suggest using a fan (no heat whatsoever) or putting them outside in indirect light to air dry (again, after removing as much excess moisture as possible). #5, make sure to put either paper (no newspaper because ink can transfer onto the leather), or some rags or small towels that will absorb the water out of the shoes as it air dries. From there, you'll want to remove those rags or paper insert periodically so that you can continue to drain out the moisture. After it's fully dry, (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART), you need to rehydrate your leather. If it's suede, you should use a suede conditioner or conditioning spray like mink oil. You will then need to brush the suede nap back to it's texture with a suede brush. This is what I'd suggest. No guarantees, but it should help. I hope for the best! Let me know if it helps!

Does this work for mildew? My new balance have severe water damage
@evumies2 ай бұрын
Hey friend! Great question. So, mildew occurs when the suede leather is left wet for a period of time where bacteria can grow. This bacteria grows in and through the pores of the leather. What that means is that the leather is soaked through and through, which means that simply rubbing off the surface of the leather with an eraser is not going to clean the entirety of the suede, just the top surface. For this unique issue, I'd recommend using a suede cleaner + water to soak your leather footwear and scrub it down thoroughly. Once it's clean, rinse it thoroughly with water so that no dirt or soap is left over. Now for the most important part. Pat the shoes dry as much as possible and then fill it with something like towels or newspaper to absorb the water. This way, the shoes can dry properly to prevent bacteria build up. Do not dry in direct sunlight, keep at room temperature or in front of a fan but do not let the leather stay wet. Because I don't know the exact issue, this is my best suggestion. But all of this is at your own risk. I hope this helps, friend! Let me know how it turns out.

@evumies6 ай бұрын
Hey friend! This may have occurred because you pressed too hard. But don't worry! If there's some fading, all you need to do is condition your suede. Adding suede conditioner (oil) to the leather will bring back the natural pigment. Be careful. You can't use regular leather conditioner, you'll need to buy a mink oil spray and use suede only conditioners. You should be conditioning your suede anyways whether you have fading or not. This will make your leather last for years to come. Check out my kit.co/evumies for my suggestions on suede sprays. I'd suggest Angelus Mink Oil Spray. Once the detergent is out, you'll want to let it dry fully (not in direct sunlight). From here, I'd suggest purchasing suede conditioner (like mink oil spray, which will soften your suede again) as well as a suede brush (which will bring the suede nap back into the right texture). Get your dry suede, spray some suede conditioner (do not use leather conditioner, it must be suede specific), and then brush in the conditioner with your suede brush. Repeat as necessary through the entire suede and follow the instructions on the product of your choice. Feel free to check out my suggestions here: kit.co/evumies I hope this helps! Keep me in the loop!

Friend, we all make mistakes. It's whether or not we leave from them is what is important. So the question is, did you learn? 🤣

I already cleaned them with water and ruined them 😢

Hey friend! Thanks so much for watching. Sorry to hear about your suede! You might still be able to restore it with these quick steps for rejuvenation (not cleaning): Let it dry fully: If it’s still wet, give it time to dry completely. Use a suede brush: Gently brush the suede in one direction to lift the nap and smooth things out. Apply mink oil spray: Lightly spray mink oil to condition and revive the suede, but remember this is just for rejuvenation, not cleaning. I'd suggest angelus mink oil spray here: kit.co/evumies Brush again: Once dry, brush the suede to bring back its texture. These steps should help freshen up the look of your suede! Let me know if it helps.

it annoys me that shoes that are meant to be worn to get dirty need TOOLS to clean them. the shoes themselves were already expensive enough smh 😔
@evumiesАй бұрын
Totally get where you’re coming from! It can be frustrating to spend a lot on shoes and then feel like you need more tools just to take care of them. But I’ve found that a little maintenance goes a long way in keeping them looking great and lasting longer, which helps make the investment worth it. But yeah, I feel you on the added cost. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

A regular eraser bro, its the same
@evumies7 ай бұрын
Hey bro. I appreciate the comment. Though, unfortunately they're not the same. Many other "regular" erasers can actually ruin your suede. If you have a colored eraser, it can also completely discolor your leather by rubbing off onto it. Please be careful. Again, suede erasers are literally made from different materials and provide more sand-paper like qualities specifically for suede. Please take my advice, since I've ruined very nice suede in the past. All the best, bro.

Oh no! Definitely don't use bleach! That'll ruin your suede for sure, haha. Well, maybe it's too late, but definitely not recommended! I'd suggest leather-only specific products as they are formulated and tested for best results.

I this work on nuckbuck??
@evumies24 күн бұрын
That's a great question! Yes, it works similar, you may just have to be a little gentler. Nubuck is not as fibrous as suede, but rather more of a low pile sanded leather. The concept is still the same for cleaning. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes or if you run into any snags! :)

I recently cleaned my suede shoes with a Jason mark cleaner and brush and now the suede is stiff..if I use the eraser will the softness come back or am I doomed ?
@evumies2 ай бұрын
