Ha, I'm same age as Louis and I remember in the mid 80's, candys bar went over 50¢.. which means you could no longer get 2 'real' candy bars for the dollar your mom gave you.., you had to get something lame like those 3 packs of giant chewy sweet tarts, or some chik-o-stick's or some ring pops or some other garbage.. ..it did make me realize how cheap Pay-Days are.. butterfingers too.. The real money was at; Snickers, Whatchamacallit's, and Baby-Ruth's

Stayed in Utrecht in 2005. No money and met a local bloke who bought us beer all night and let its crash at his place for three nights. He paid for everything. I remember one thing he said, this was a time when people put lime/lemon slice in the mouth of a Corona bottle (the beer not the virus), he said in a very aggressive manner, "I do not mix fruit and beer, and anyone who does is no friend of mine." Never had lime/lemon in a Corona since.Though I did find the open heroin market near the train station pretty tough. Hundreds of strung out Dutch people looking shit. Nice trip though.
