its been so long since I thought about ginger ale being used as medicine its hysterical to think about, but it has its origins from when it was made with real ginger and ginger is good for stomach problems. They used to just boil ginger in water, strain it, condense it, add sugar, make it into a syrup, then add carbonated water. for people who like ginger ale for mixed drinks, it comes out really great when you make your own ginger syrup and then just add tonic water/seltzer and your alcohol of choice
