58 and still a superfan. The guitar player in my high school band (I’m keyboards) turned me on to Pat at a show in 1981 in Asbury Park NJ. Saw Lyle on the boardwalk afterwards but was too awestruck to say anything to him. Been fortunate to attend several shows since ( NY,Red Bank,New Brunswick) and feel supremely grateful to have been in the presence of such genius.

Hi Emily, I’ve known Pat since 1976 when I attended Berklee. Unfortunately, Lyle (keyboards) has passed on. The original PMG was Pat, Lyle, Danny and Mark. Since then and up until Lyle’s passing it was primarily Pat & Lyle with Steve Rodby (bass) as their nucleus with a revolving door of amazing musicians. They are unique …

I have a funny story to share. It was the 80s when I was turned on to him. My brother told me about him and said he had a couple tickets and asked if I would like to join him to the event. I said sure having no idea who this guy was. I told my girl friend, she said who? Pat my thingy??? I laughed. So my brother and I went to the paramount in Seattle Washington where he was performing and went insid, got seated and this band came in from the rear where we come in before getting seated. They were playing this offbeated, off tune music, I'm like that's it I'm not listening to this shit for 3 hrs. And as they started approaching the stage their music turned into this beautiful tune. I wanted to cry. I have never missed him since when he comes to town. What a cool arrangement for the fusion jazz world to enjoy. THANK YOU PAT! FOREVER YOUR FAN.

Music is the key that can unlock one's inner feeling(s) that reside in some cases, dormant in our souls till that combination of melodic genius meets the refined precision of a master such as Lyle. Lyle and Pat have the ability to reach deep into our souls, and touch parts hitherto unknown. It's an awakening of spirit to be sure, what we choose to do with this gift of course is up to us. Appreciate, share, marvel at their use of time and space, how they shape the very essence of each thought, and can transfer their gift to everyone. Some of us are more fortunate than others, when we can connect on a different plain, where they bridge that gulf of time and space, it is a true connection, that we are powerless to control, we revel in every moment, the cadence, the tenor, the timbre of each note can take us to another dimension. My heart and soul become one during this embrace, and the feeling is one of pure delight. Thank you Lyle, when you gear up, there truly is a disturbance in the force, and it is heavenly, sublime. Rest In Peace in God's grace, Lyle....my friend, you are truly missed. And Pat please take care and you will remain in our hearts forever.
