In the first trailer they made The Boss hella ugly, she basically looked like a man, and so it came the fans backlash! Konami has heard it, and since Ubisoft and many others have in the recent and not so recent past suffered greatly for not listening to fans and shoehorning in some DEI nonsense just to fill a checklist from shady investors, Konami has decided to not screw around and actually fix her face, make her more feminine and make her look much more closer to the original. Remember, if you love something FIGHT for it! Say when you see something off, point out the mistakes, and preserve it for future generations. Man it feels surreal that a few years back we got those CGI cutscenes for an MGS3 Pachinko game and thought we'd never get those visuals for an actual Remake. And now we're actually getting it. I honestly wouldn't mind if they redid each entry of MGS with this level of production. How awesome would it be if this segued into a Peacewalker remake with all new cinematic cutscenes? I also wouldn't mind them redoing MGS1 with the Twin Snakes animations. I'd just leave things such as the MGS2 camera angles and first person mode out to retain the feel of MGS1.

2:44, in the original, snakes eyes adjust to the dark in real time. Leave the game running long enough and you can see everything in the cave perfectly fine without the torch or nvg

Snake eater was always my favorite in the franchise. Just hit different. Love they are keeping all the elements especially survival aspects. I wish they fleshed them out a bit more though and maybe expanded the areas but we will see. Either way, I am absolutely elated for this game and cannot wait to play through it another ten plus times.

@WhimsyPsyche Some ppl havent caught this but during a codec call with Eva on the original, evidence is given how Ocelot is actually the son of The Boss. “He is born on a battlefield bullets wissing passed him..his mother stitched up .. with a wound shaped like a snake” before the fight with the boss she unzips and you see the wound, after defeat the wound slithers away .. like a snake, basically BIg Boss is Ocelots Godfather.

Dunno if you knew but in the cave, after a while Snake's eyes adjust to the dark and we can see better than at the beginning of entering the cave. I think maybe they recorded that cave section well into being in the cave so the cave is seen better, hopefully that's what's going on.

The funny thing is that MGS3 was also on birds-eye-view, when it was released. Only the HD Remastered had the new "folowed" camera (don't know if it's called that way), which you used. Only the controlls where hard to do, because PS2 was the only Playstation, which had adaptive buttons, that's why the CQC controls where so hard to do on the remake. So it's definitely possible with MGS1 as well. I would be on fire for that! But there will be new controls on the new games for sure! Also funny: In MGS1, reflections weren't possible on that time, so Kojima built parts of the map up side down under the map. So everytime you look on a puddle, you do see the map under you - not reflections 😂😂 But it was the first game which had "reflections" 💪🏼

They made a MGS3 pachinko game in 2016 with modernized cutscenes and that was like a preview for what we're seeing from this game. It was Japan-only, but there are still compilations online. Everyone was so mad back then because they made that instead of a remake like this.

The thing is, a lot of people who are purists don't like Twin Snakes, the Gamecube remake of MGS1 because Kojima changed the voice acting, music, and added matrix-like action in the cutscenes so the changes bothered those people. I personally didn't mind the changes in the grand scheme of the game but I think that people in general will be happier with a more faithful remake.

The Remake is basically a graphic update. All the vocals and animations are taken from the original one. Only the gameplay animations are new. All the cimematics are 1:1

I love it. The only thing I would like is that they would remove the loading screens and actually make the areas seamlessly transition. It's TOO faithful in this regard, in my opinion.

They already said they decided pretty early on not to do it because it would have changed the gameplay too much as it would require a complete rebalance of the enemy AI and other gameplay systems.

I'm sorry but that's a false dilemma fallacy. Introducing seamless transitions wouldn't suddenly turn it into a remake like RE2 as it wouldn't affect things like story or character changes. It would only affect, as you said, AI and some environments, and I would personally embrace such changes.

But in general I prefer when remakes stay near the original storywise and only improve graphics and gameplay. Maybe even add new areas. So I think they are going in the right direction here.

It's a fun touch but if you compare them, the developers reworked Ocelot's facial shape a bit so his jawline and cheeks line up with his older MGS1,2, and 4 appearance.
