Rewatching after yesterday's tea time- I cried the first time I watched it and I cried again now. Everyone who has been lucky enough to stumble across Flylady knows the feeling of relief when you start this process. How desperate you are before you find Flylady, how depressed you are and how frustrated you are with yourself. I remember how silly I felt cleaning my sink when there was so much else to do, but I decided to try it anyway as what I'd been doing hadn't been working! I cried as I scrubbed, ashamed of the stains and the piles of dishes. Once I was done, I stood back proud and amazed at how much better my kitchen looked. The next morning I woke up feeling ahead instead of behind ❤ that boosted my confidence and bit by bit I added more habits till I could have guests over! At that time I was a young mother living in a not very nice apartment in a really not nice area. I had such little confidence that the first time I went to a mum and baby group I walked past it 3 or 4 times before I had the courage to go inside. I made lovely friends there but I was still ashamed, what would they think of me and my home? With Flylady's I cleaned, fluttered and decluttered until I felt ready to have people over. My area and apartment block may not have been nice, but my home was a cosy haven I could be proud of. Through every up and down since then ( about 10 years ago) Flylady has been there to guide me back up when I'm falling 💜💜💜

@@MataH1 unfortunately she’s not great on the videos. But there are loads of other KZbinrs that do Fly lady system. They are the fly lady’s rules for the systems. Try A slob comes clean and Diana in Denmark. You should really give it a go. Very worthwhile. I wish someone would take this lady’s videos and advise her how to do them better. She would then have a million subscribers. It’s kinda like her followers can explain the system better than she does. I’m just not into the waiting and singing or the praying. I much prefer the doing. Even if it’s only a two minute video. But oh how it’s change my life this lockdown! Thank you flylady !😍

I am a fairly new fly baby. This video is very inspirational! My life is chaos my house is chaos. The other day I looked out the window and saw a very dear friend of mine WALKING UP THE DRIVEWAY! I literally started to cry. My house was disgusting. My kitchen a TOTAL mess. My bathroom DISGUSTING! This is a very DEAR friend who has a cleaning business. She knows my problem because we used to barter hair cuts/color for cleaning services. I am a hairdresser.. When she went thru my house I was watching. How does she do this? She had a SMILE on her face her rubber gloves on. We turned up the Yacht Rock radio station on Sirius XM 70s music. And as I helped tidy up we had a BLAST! She moved further away and dont see her as much but she was "in the neighborhood" and stopped by to "say hello". UGH I was SO ASHAMED! I've been like this my whole life. ADD/DEPRESSION which has gotten worse since I lost my 24yo son to addiction 3 years ago. I started seeing things piling up. There was a path for me to walk thru to get into a bed that was piled with stuff. I started to see a future hoarder in me! I found the Fly Lady. I started getting emails I watch your videos. You understand us! You speak with so much kindness. I'm starting to speak that way to myself. I deserve a house that can have people stop buy and that I CAN BE PROUD OF! Well my friend did indeed use my bathroom that day. Never so embarrassed in my life. But its improving. My morning dressed to shoes swish and swipe dishes routine is a big help. My timer is set for 15 minutes at a time. I am so sad that my sons (and ex husband) dealt with this. I knew they deserved a neat clean house, but never kept it all together! Thank you so much for your help! God bless you! ❤

Her message is one of hope. If you are down and depressed about the CHAOS in your home, this simple video can instill some hope and encouragement that number 1 you are not alone and number 2 you can accomplish anything a little bit at a time. Not to mention it gives a simple starting point when you don't know where to begin. I have issues with clutter, too much on my schedule and getting overwhelmed with wanting to get it all done at once but not having the time to do it all at once. I have returned again and again to my sink as a starting point when life has gotten overwhelming and I feel like I will drown in the mess of my home. Just doing this one simple task; cleaning my sink, gives me the clean focal point to encourage me to keep moving. But don't forget to take breaks too...I plan 15 minute breaks during every hour of housework. Sometimes it is just to sit down and read a book or go outside and walk on my porch and enjoy nature.

I'm starting, taking baby steps. I shined my sink and then decided it looked so good I would empty the dishwasher, load the dirty dishes into it, empty the dish rack and clean the counters. Maybe a little more than baby steps, lol. I really felt motivated. Thanks.

Cleaning your sink until it shines is doing something good for yourself and taking the small amount of time to enjoy something beautiful that you've created and maintained. I believe it does have to do with a person's spirituality or whatever you want to call that place inside that shines, too, when you know that your sink is shining back at you. When you have been living in depression and guilt and feel overwhelmed, the simple task of creating one clean and shining thing in your life is hope.

I TOTALLY ENJOYED this video! It was so encouraging and at times funny. I've been to her website and starting her program, it has given me much inspiration knowing I can do it with just baby steps. She started just like you and I, totally in chaos in need of help. I think we all need to support each other in our messes and be a cheerleader for each other. 5 min of cleaning or decluttering is better than nothing. Loved this video, I know exactly why she put it out there. And for anyone annoyed about the babies butts in the sink, lighten up. Brought back old days for me and my sisters because we had to bathe in the sinks being a young child and also sitting on the washing machine when we moved into a different house. If you dare to have an open mind find her website, she's quite helpful and motivating!! Have a beautiful day,

I've really made it a priority throughout my day to keep my sink empty by loading the dishwasher as I go thru my day. At the end of the day I start it and when I wake up while making coffee I u load it. It doesn't take long now as the dishwasher isn't stuffed to capacity trying to fit several days of dishes in. I love this system. I don't dread cooking anymore. A dirty kitchen no longer holds a raincloud over my day. It all started with putting my shoes on!😀

I have boxes on top of boxes, dirty dishes, dirty clean clothes, and I've been sick. We just won our case to keep our house... that's why we have so many boxes. My husband tore our carpet out two years ago and the dust and dirt is overwhelming. What do I do first!!!!????
@paulaw4187 жыл бұрын
Jeanette Grisham start with the smallest easiest room. Even if it's just the guest bathroom. As a recovering hoarder I can say that FINISHING one room gives you an immediate feeling of accomplishment that you want to keep on feeling. Then when doing a bigger room, when you get overwhelmed go back to that tiny but shiny sparkling room and sit in it for a few minutes. Just to get that feeling back. Instead of tackling your entire kitchen at once, start with cleaning the sink and then under the sink. Before moving onto the rest of the room. Good luck.

And once I have put the dishes on the floor and made my sink shine, what do I do with the dishes ? Keep them on the floor ? Put them back into the sink to make it dirty again ? before being able to shine the sink ; fill the dishwasher; start it; wait until it's finished; empty the dishwasher; fill it again; start it again ; it takes two or three hours, then it is time to prepare the next meal, and you need the sink to rince vegetables, to put into the knife and the bowl used (DW is running !)

@MsAvignon I always used the sink for bathing the kids when they were babies. A lot safer than the big tub, and saves your back as well. The little sprayer comes in handy, too. If you're a germaphobe, a little sprinkle of Comet and elbow grease after baby's bath does the job. :)

I'd suggest that you learn how to pack your DW very efficiently, you should NEVER need to start it twice after a meal, or a day unless it's an occasion. I often repack my DW after my partner is done with it, and I can rearrange and add twice as much stuff. If done right, we don't have to start it everyday. you'd feel less overwhelmed if it was a one time thing.
